Abstract

Increased levels of lipid which is characterized by increasedlevels of triglycerides until now has not found an effective and efficient. Some sources say there are9-oxo-ODA in tomatoes to cause triglyceride levels in the blood. Purpose : The aim of The Study todetermineeffect of tomatoe juice on blood serum Triglycerides level inmalewistarrat. This experimental study used male wistar rats, and the post test only control group design. Rats were divided into three groups, i.e. negative control group (K-), positif control group (K+), and treatment group (P). K-group was untreated by fresh tomato juice and fed with standart diet only. K+ group was fed with standart and peroral lipid. P group treated with fresh tomato juice and also fed with standart and lipid peroral.Fresh Tomato juice were treated by means of stomach sondation for 14 days. On day the 15th, rats were sacrified and intracardial blood were taken 3-5 ml for examination of lipid profile by enzimatic colorimetric method using an automatic test analizer. Data were analyzed by one way anova followed by LSD test. The conclusion of this study is the average triglyceride levels between the negative control group (K-) and positive control (K +) was not significantly different, and no changes in triglyceride levels in the control group (K +) and the treatmentgroup. Keywords: tomato juice, Triglycerides, 9-oxo-ODA

Abstract

Excessive and prolonged distress (chronic) can cause damage to periodontal tissues, specifically alveolar bone resorption. Alveolar bone resorption is caused by osteoclast cells activity. The purpose of the research is to determine effect of chronic distress duration to osteoclast cells activity in alveolar bone of male Sprague-Dawley rats attain the age of 3-4 months. The rats were given an electric shock stressor (Electrical Foot Shock) as distress chronic for 7, 14, and 28 days. Stressors were given for 30 minutes at 9 a.m every day during the treatment period. The amount of electrical current is 2-8 mA, 48 V voltages and 0.5 Hz frequency. Osteoclasts activity were observed histologically with 400x magnification using osteoclast Bone Interface (OBI) Index by dividing the length of howship's lacunae with osteoclasts. Result showed signifficant difference at 0.00 (p<0.05) beetwen the variable.Activity of osteoclasts in alveolar bone of Sprague-Dawley rats which were exposed to the stressor is increased when compared to the group that were not exposed to electrical shock stressor, but at day 14 decreased when compared to the other treatment groups. Keyword : chronic distress, osteoclast activity, alveolar bone

Abstract

Chronic distress is a psycho-physiological reaction of stimuli that disrupt homoestasis which cause damage to the body, one of kind is an electrical shock stressor. The distress can increase catecholamines level in considerable amounts and allegedy it produce pro-inflamatory cytokines. Cytokine will affect the Hypoyhalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis to produce cortisol and also act as negative control of cytokines. In this assumption, cytokines can increase bond of osteoclast formation key mediator which is RANKL with its receptor (RANK) to produce osteoclasts. This study was an experimental laboratories research using 8 weeks old Sprague dawley rats with body weight 200-250 gram as samples to observe increase of the number of osteoclasts in the alveolar bone. A total of 32 samples were divided into 4 groups: the rats group exposed with electrical shock stressor  for 0, 7, 14, and 28 days. Then samples were processed by tissue processing  until it’s ready to observe using an electron microscope with 400x magnification. The results showed  that there were significant differences (p <0.05) between groups. It is concluded that the number of osteoclasts alveolar bone osteoclast were increased in Sprague dawley rats that experienced chronic distress. Abstract

Orthodontic tooth movement occurs due to mechanical stimulation followed by alveolar bone and periodontal ligament remodeling. Bone remodeling is the process of bone resorption in areas of tension and bone formation in areas of tension. Various techniques and drugs are used to speed up orthodontic treatment. This study aims to analyze the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6 on orthodontic tooth movement after the administration of Robusta coffee extract. Twenty-four Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: C1 (2 weeks) and C2 (3 weeks) groups: rats were given orthodontic mechanical force (OMF) and T1 (2 weeks) and T2 (3 weeks) groups rats were given OMF and Robusta coffee extract. OMF in rats was performed by moving the maxillary right permanent molars mesially with a Niti closed coil spring. Observations were made on the 15th and 22nd day by immunohistochemical examination to determine the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6. Administration of Robusta coffee extract for 2 weeks and 3 weeks increased BMP2 and TRAP6 expression (p <0.05). Administration of Robusta coffee extract increased the expression of BMP2 and TRAP6 in the alveolar bone during orthodontic tooth movement.
