Abstract

Teaching materials are part of all forms of written materials used to help the teachers in carrying out learning activities. A professional teacher is also required to produce teaching materials. Based on the observation, the teachers only utilize teaching materials in the form of a worksheet (LKS). LKS used for teaching is not in accordance with the curriculum needed and many images are not clearly visible. Thus, it has been developed teaching material in form of Student Worksheet (LKS) on Living Organizational System topic that has done validity test with validation result is 85.27% (criterion is very valid). For next, research to test the practicality which is a continued of the development stage. This research is a research development (Research and Development) with four D models. Data obtained are analyzed by descriptive analysis. From the result of the research, the value of practicality from teachers is 94,94% (very practical) and from a student is 87,01% (very practical). Then it can be concluded LKS based on learning cycle 5-e approach on Living Organization System topic developed is very practical.

Abstract

Diarrhea is the second biggest cause of infant death in Indonesia.  Diarrhea can caused by several factors, one of them is bacteria.  The most common bacteria which cause diarrhea are Escherichia coli and Salmonella sp.  The common treatment for the diarrhea victim uses synthetic antibiotic.  Unfortunately, it gives side effect such as; fever, allergic, headache and resistance to strain microbe.  Therefore the alternative treatment which does not cause side effect to the diarrhea victim is using antibiotic from plant need to be found immediately.  One of them is using the extract from leave of morinda (Morinda citrifolia L.). Thus this research had been conducted in order to find out morinda leave extract in restricting  the growth of E. coli and Salmonella sp.  This research was conducted on Desember 2010 in Biology Laboratory of Biology department of STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. Experiment design is randomized completely design with six treatment and four replication.  Treatment A used Amoxicilin and treatment B used morinda leave extract with level of concentration15 %, C 20 %, D 25 %, E 30 % and F 35 %. The method paper diffusion used to determine the diameter of inhibition area of morinda leave extract. The data was analyzed with ANOVA and continued with least significant different test with p<0.05.  The result showed that mengkudu leave extract can decrease the growth of E. coli and Salmonella sp bacteria where Salmonella sp is more sensitive than E. coli.Key words: diarrhea, escherichia  coli, salmonella sp, morinda leave extract, amoxicilin

Abstract

The not yet maximally the application of mushroom cultivation techniques by the community has been an influence on the results of cultivation. The use of ineffective techniques can prolong working time and high damage to the oyster mushroom block, as experienced by MycoAgro businessman. This activity aims to improve mushroom cultivation techniques in order to increase the production of mushroom businesses owned by the community. This activity was carried out in the Panyalaian Nagari District X Koto, Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra. The method used is in the form of community assistance through counselling and training of partners in improving cultivation facilities, strengthening cultivation techniques that have been and have not been mastered by partners. Making operational standards for cultivation tools and work safety procedures and providing entrepreneurial motivation counselling to partners. The results of the activity showed that there had been an increase in understanding of cultivation techniques controlled by partners. Partners have been able to complete 2000 mushroom blocks with a faster time than before. There has been a division of labour with cultivation locations and work safety procedures. During the process of cultivating bag locks which were damaged only 15%, this number was far smaller than before. The average production of oyster mushrooms is 30.7 kg/week. Partners have produced their own seeds, know the technique of consuming mushroom cultivation besides oyster mushrooms and are able to use growing media other than wood husks. Based on the activities carried out it can be concluded that there has been an increase in the cultivation of oyster mushrooms owned by the community.
