Abstract

This study aims to validate the psychometric properties of a video-based assessment rubric designed to evaluate the pedagogical and professional competencies of physics prospective teachers. The validation process employed the Rasch model to examine item reliability, person reliability, item fit, category functioning, and the separation index. Data were collected from 61 participants using a 25-item rubric that covered various aspects, including Pancasila values, instructional structure, student-centered learning, professional ethics, and evaluation of learning. The results showed that the item reliability was high (0.83), while person reliability was moderate (0.75), with a person separation index of 1.75. Some items exhibited misfit with the Rasch model, indicating the need for revision or refinement. Analysis of category functioning revealed overlapping probabilities between adjacent categories, suggesting that the response scale could benefit from more precise distinctions. Overall, the rubric demonstrated acceptable psychometric quality for assessing the competencies of physics prospective teachers, although several items and scale structures require improvement to enhance measurement precision

Abstract

The distinction between heat and temperature is fundamental in physics learning, yet it remains a persistent source of student misconceptions. Many learners interpret heat as a tangible substance stored within an object or assume that temperature is equivalent to the amount of heat possessed. Such misunderstandings hinder the development of deeper concepts in thermodynamics and energy transfer. This study aims to investigate senior high school students’ conceptual understanding of heat and temperature through a qualitative lens. The research involved 30 Grade XI students from a public high school in Indonesia. Data were collected using a conceptual diagnostic test followed by semi-structured interviews that probed students’ reasoning about everyday thermal phenomena. Thematic analysis was applied to categorize misconceptions and identify underlying reasoning models. Findings revealed four dominant patterns: (1) the substance model of heat, where students described heat as a material that flows from hot to cold bodies; (2) the equation model of temperature, in which temperature was mistakenly treated as the total amount of heat; (3) the cold transfer misconception, where students believed coldness itself moves from one body to another; and (4) the size–temperature confusion, where larger objects were assumed to always have higher temperature. These conceptions align with reports in international literature, indicating the universal nature of such difficulties. The study underscores the value of qualitative exploration for uncovering the reasoning behind misconceptions, not merely their frequency. Implications for teaching include the use of particle-level representations, predict–observe–explain activities, and simple calorimetry experiments to help students reconstruct scientifically accurate models of heat and temperature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of using the Soundcard oscilloscope application on the closed organ pipe material by comparing the physics learning outcomes of students between those who use the Soundcard oscilloscope application and those who use a conventional oscilloscope. The research design used is experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design. The experimental variable (X1) in this study is the class that is given group practicum treatment using a laptop soundcard-based oscilloscope as a practicum tool. Meanwhile, the control variable (X2) is the class that is given group practicum treatment using one conventional oscilloscope as a practicum tool alternately. The data collection method used is the provision of tests in the form of pre-tests and post-tests in the experimental and control classes. Based on the analysis of the independent sample test data that has been carried out, the results obtained are that the sig (2-tailed) results show a value smaller than 0,05, which means that there is a significant difference between student learning outcomes between those who use the soundcard oscilloscope application and those who use a conventional oscilloscope as a practicum tool. Based on paired sample t-test data analysis, it is proven that the use of practical tools, both soundcard oscilloscope and conventional oscilloscope, has a significant impact on increasing learning outcomes. Where with the soundcard oscilloscope, the average student learning outcomes increased by 20,44 while with the conventional oscilloscope it increased by 8,200.

Abstract

Recent changes in Indonesia’s education policy, particularly the removal of the National Examination and its replacement with the National Assessment, aim to improve the quality of learning. One of the key components of the National Assessment is the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM), which evaluates students’ literacy and numeracy skills. However, results from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) indicate that Indonesian students’ numeracy skills are still relatively low, including those at SMA Negeri 1 Bantarsari, where no significant improvement has been observed over the past two years. This study aims to develop a problem-based Student Worksheet (LKPD) designed to enhance students’ numeracy skills in managing household electricity consumption. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants were 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Bantarsari. The LKPD was validated by content and media experts, and its feasibility was assessed by both teachers and students. The results show that the LKPD received a validity score of 80 percent, indicating that it is highly suitable for use without the need for major revisions. Additionally, positive feedback from teachers and students suggests that the LKPD is effective for problem-based learning and can support the development of students’ numeracy skills. Therefore, the problem-based Student Worksheets is expected to serve as an innovative learning resource that enhances the quality of physics instruction and strengthens students’ numeracy literacy

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the development of academic hardiness or academic resilience through the transformation of the cognitive counseling model from 2015 to 2024 or the last 10 years using a bibliometric analysis method sourced from the Dimensions AI database accessed on January 22, 2025. The results of the study showed that the articles obtained at the beginning of the search were 10,917, of which only 161 articles remained after sorting according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reported Items for Systematics Review and Meta-Analysis) method. Academic resilience has a positive impact on student satisfaction through the quality of educational services at educational institutions. Monitoring and fulfillment of students' academic needs by educational institutions is important to ensure educational satisfaction. Stress management and academic anxiety management are also important for building good academic resilience, while the most active researcher in publishing works on academic hardiness and cognitive counseling is Сергій Олексійович Semerikov from Ukraine with 3 publications, while the most active journal publishing articles on this theme is the Bulletin of The L N Eurasia National University journal from Kazakhstan with 27 publications.
