Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth examination on the concept of Buddhist economic based on the principles of the Buddha’s teachings in the Sutta Pitaka. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative with literature analysis, collecting data obtained from both primary and secondary sources. The primary source refers to the main Buddhist scripture, the Tipitaka, especially the Sutta Pitaka section. Secondary sources include books, journals, and articles relevant to the topic, which help to enrich the discussion on the concept of Buddhist economic. The research results show that the Buddhist economic is an approach that integrates the principles of Buddha’s teachings with the practice of wealth accumulation and management based on ethics and morality. Buddhism is a religion that emphasizes moral practice, so the right way to accumulate wealth is by not neglecting Buddhist morality. Human welfare should not be achieved by harming other beings or damaging the environment. Proper wealth management is the wisdom in using wealth to support the achievement of welfare. This study provides an important contribution to Buddhist knowledge about the correct strategies for wealth accumulation and management that support economic growth and welfare while prioritizing morality.

Abstract

This research examines the integration of learning analytics in Buddhist education using a literature review approach. The study is conducted through a conceptual synthesis framework consisting of three stages: preliminary synthesis, intermediate synthesis, and final synthesis. The primary focus of the research is how learning analytics, as a data-driven technological tool, can be utilized to support personalized and meaningful learning processes, without neglecting the core values of Buddhist teachings. In this context, learning analytics is positioned not merely as a technical instrument, but as a reflective medium capable of incorporating the principles of sīla (ethics), samādhi (concentration), and prajñā (wisdom) into students' learning experiences. The analysis is conducted by considering three main elements: text, which encompasses the content of Buddhist teachings and student learning data; context, namely the dynamics of digital transformation in the spiritual education system; and discourse, namely the reinterpretation of Buddhist learning that is holistic, contemplative, and relevant to the needs of the times. The study's findings demonstrate that integrating learning analytics into Buddhist education enables the creation of a learning process that is not only adaptive and evidence-based, but also deeply spiritual and ethical. When implemented appropriately, learning analytics has the potential to support inclusive, mindfulness-based, and sustainable education—where technology is used not to replace spiritual values, but to enhance them. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the development of a digital pedagogical model that balances technological sophistication with spiritual depth, and encourages the wise and ethical use of data in religious education. These findings can provide a starting point for curriculum designers, educators, and educational technology developers in designing Buddhist learning approaches relevant to the digital age.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characters that appear in the Kacchapa Jātaka (178), Kacchapa Jātaka (215), and Kacchapa Jātaka (273) in Buddhist education. This type of research is a type of library research or often referred to as literature study, which is based on the study and analysis of textbooks. The data related to this study were collected through literature study, the data analysis process began by first sorting out all the data obtained and developing it into a study. The data collected will be analyzed by reading the literature crisis related to the Kacchapa Jātaka (178); the Kacchapa Jātaka (215); and the Kacchapa Jātaka (273). The results of this study draw the following conclusions: one of the goals of education is to internalize values emphasized in spiritual ethics which are reflected in everyday attitudes. Kacchapa Jātaka as a learning medium can be an alternative means of character building for students. Students do not feel pressured by the process of instilling values which are usually indoctrinating about a particular teaching. Through Kacchapa Jātaka students feel comfortable because the process of cultivating character values is fun.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the Buddhist attitude towards loss and to examine the integration of Noble Eightfold Path as therapy for coping with loss. This research adopts library approach conducted using content analysis as the primary method for data interpretation. Following Miles and Huberman’s analytical model, the process consists of four stages: data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions. Data were collected from both primary sources, including the Pali Canon and its commentaries, and secondary sources, such as scholarly books and journal articles accessed via Google Scholar. The research findings revealed that: 1) Loss and separation from the loved one are inevitable experiences of human life, and Buddhism considers it as a kind of suffering (piyehi vippayogo dukkho); 2) The Buddha identified the path leading to cessation of this suffering is through Noble Eightfold Path, consisting right view (sammādiṭṭhi), right thought (sammāsaṅkappo), right speech (sammāvācā), right action (sammākammanto), right livelihood (sammāājīvo), right effort (sammāvāyāmo), right mindfulness (sammāsati) and right concentration (sammāsamādhi). The path is called as Middle Way (majjhimā paṭipadā), avoiding two extreme practices: self-mortification and sensual-indulgence. This teaching is effective in reducing the risk of self-indulgence and self-destructive behavior caused by emotional turmoil when facing loss. The Noble Eightfold Path (ariya atthaṅgika magga) can be used as a way for coping with loss, presenting the way to adopt the proper attitude when facing the loss and to manage the negative emotions.

Abstract

This study examines the concepts of upāsaka and upāsikā in Tipiṭaka in order to construct a comprehensive understanding of the identity and practice of Buddhist lay adherents. The research adopts a library-based methodology, drawing on primary sources from Tipiṭaka and its commentaries, as well as secondary sources comprising peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books, and academic publications relevant to the topic. Content analysis is employed to systematically identify, classify, and interpret the meanings and practices associated with upāsaka and upāsikā within Buddhist canonical texts, particularly the Dīgha Nikāya, Majjhima Nikāya, Saṃyutta Nikāya, Aṅguttara Nikāya, Dhammapada, and Sutta Nipāta. The analytical procedure follows the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings elucidate the definition of upāsaka and upāsikā, the formation process of lay Buddhist identity, the normative practices prescribed for lay adherents, and the conditions required for establishing an orthodox lay Buddhist identity.
