Abstract

Improving the students’ creative thinking skills using problem based worksheet on the topic of environmental pollution. Objectives: This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of problem based worksheet to improve students’ creative thinking skills on the topic of environmental pollution. Methods: Creative thinking skills were measured using four indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The research was designed using the matching only pretestpostest control group design. The data of creative thinking skills were collected from pretest and posttest and analyzed using statistical analysis such as normality, homogeneity, t-test, and Mann-Whitney test. Findings: Students’ elaboration skill showed the highest improvement related to the effect size (0.92) and n-gain value (0.73). Conclusion: The problem based worksheet is effective to improve students’ creative thinking skill. Keywords: Worksheet, problem based learning, creative thinking skill. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v8.i2.201814

Abstract

TheEffectiveness of Problem Based Learning’s Worksheet (LKPD)- Oriented forEnhancing Students Creative Thinking. This study aimed to describe the impact of the use of Worksheet Students (LKPD) oriented model of Problem Based Learning (PBL) on theScience topicsabout Sense of Hearing and Sonar Systems in Human Beings. The data collection is done with quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent pre-test post-test. A total of 74 students of a junior high school in the city of Bandar Lampung involved as research samples. Samples were divided into two groups: an experimental group where students acquire learning using LKPD-based treatment and control groups use traditional PBL LKPD in students’ books. The results showed that LKPD based on PBL effective in use for science topics of Sense of Hearing and Sonar Systems in Beings with high levels of effectiveness (N-Gain = 0.78). Keywords: LKPD, PBL, creative thinking skill, sense of hearing and sonar systems in human beings DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v6.i1.201601

Abstract

The Effects of Problem Based Learning on Critical Thinking Skills Students. This study aimed to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model in improving students’ critical thinking skills. Samples were VIIA and VIIC grade students of SMPN 22 Bandar Lampung selected by purposive sampling. The research design was pretest-posttest not equivalent. The quantitative data were in the form of students’ critical thinking skills measured by written test obtained from the pretest and posttest and analyzed using t test with significance level of 5%. Learning activity data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that N-gain of experimental class students (0.77) and differed significantly higher than the control group (0.57). Activities of students in the experimental class (83,25%) higher than the control class (66,04%). It can be concluded that Problem Based Learning model can improve critical thinking skills and student learning activities. Keywords: problem based learning, critical thinking skills, learning activity DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v6.i2.201601
