Abstract

Henna leaves and clove flowers contain natural dyes that can be used as hair dye. Apart from that, it can also overcome dandruff problems because these plants contain antifungal activity. This study aims to determine the physical properties and antifungal activity of hair dyes gel extract from henna leaves and clove flowers. Research methods include preparing raw materials for henna leaves and clove flowers, making extracts of henna leaves and clove flowers, hair dyes gel formulation, physical properties testing, and antifungal activity testing. The hair dyes gel consists of 4 formulas, with a ratio of henna leaves and clove flowers in F0 without extract, F1 (10%: 2%), F2 (20%: 4%), and F3 (30%: 6%). Test parameters include physical properties tests which include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH tests, adhesion tests, coloring effectiveness tests, and antifungal activity tests against Candida albicans. The results of the physical properties test of the hair dyes gel showed that the combination of henna leaves extract and clove flowers can be used as a natural hair dye.  The results of the hair dyes gel inhibition test at F0 was 12.77 mm, F1 was 25.97 mm, F2 was 29.80 mm, and F3 was 32.68 mm. The gel formula that provides the best color was F3, which provides the most striking color, namely dark brown, and offers antifungal activity of 32.68 mm, with a very strong category.

Abstract

Salah satu unsur penting bagi pembangunan sumber daya manusia adalah derajat kesehatan. Pembangunan kesehatan pada hakikatnya adalah upaya yang dilaksanakan oleh semua komponen bangsa Indonesia yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran, kemauan, dan kemampuan hidup sehat bagi setiap orang agar terwujud derajat kesehatan masyarakat yang setinggi-tingginya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dilakukan Pendidikan Kesehatan dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat di Desa Tagung Bangsalan Boyolali, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dalam menerapkan pola hidup sehat. Metode kegiatan yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pendidikan kesehatan dan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Pendidikan kesehatan yang diberikan meliputi materi tentang bahan kimia obat, bahan tambahan pangan, demam berdarah, dan tanaman obat. Pemberdayaan masyarakat meliputi beberapa kegiatan yaitu menanam tanaman obat, pembagian obat jentik-jentik, minum jamu, senam dan kerja bakti. Hasil kegiatan ini, masyarakat di Desa Tagung Bangsalan Boyolali menjadi lebih paham akan pentingnya menerapkan pola hidup sehat sebagai upaya untuk mengurangi peningkatan penyakit. Dengan adanya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dapat digunakan untuk memotivasi masyarakat dalam membiasakan pola hidup sehat, sehingga dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat khususnya masyarakat di Desa Tagung Bangsalan Boyolali.

Abstract

Jajanan pasar merupakan sebutan untuk jajanan atau kue-kue yang dijual di pasar. Jajanan pasar sebagai makanan tradisional kini tak hanya diperoleh di pasar-pasar tradisional namun sudah merambah ke toko atau supermarket. Salah satu parameter yang digunakan dalam menentukan kelayakan dan keamanan bahan pangan adalah dengan mengukur kandungan mikrobiologis pada makanan. Bahaya biologi terutama mikroba pada pangan perlu mendapat perhatian karena jenis bahaya ini yang sering menjadi agen penyebab kasus keracunan pangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) pada pada Kue Jajanan Pasar. Penelitian diawali dengan isolasi mikroorganisme dari sampel Kue Jajanan Pasar, dilanjutkan perhitungan Angka Lempeng Total (ALT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) dari sampel kue jajanan pasar didapatkan, pada sampel kue lumpur adalah negatif (< 1x104), sampel kue putu ayu adalah negatif (< 1x104), sampel kue serabi adalah negatif (< 1x104), sampel kue talam sebanyak 3,9 x 104 koloni/g (>1x104), sampel dari kue carabikang sebanyak 0,17 x 104 koloni/g (< 1x104), sampel dari kue pancong sebanyak 66 x 104 koloni/g (>1x104). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) kue talam dan kue pancong melebihi standar dari SNI Nomor 7388 tahun 2009 yang sudah ditetapkan, yaitu ALT dengan batas maksimum 1×104 koloni/g.

Abstract

Indoor air quality is a problem that needs attention because it will affect human health. A laboratory is a place for a group of people who carry out various kinds of activities, both practicum, research, observation, training, and scientific testing. In the laboratory room where there is microbial contamination that can cause disease and can be transmitted through equipment, materials used, laboratory and research samples, and laboratory visitors. This research was conducted to know the description of the quality of air microbiology at the Microbiology Laboratory Campus III Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta. The study began with the isolation of air microbes in the Microbiology Laboratory of Campus III Poltekkes Kemenkes Surakarta with PCA (Plate Count Agar) media, continued with colony counting and macroscopic observations of the colony characteristics found. Microbes were found in the air at a predetermined air intake point. There were 4 colonies of air in the instructor's workroom, 19 colonies of air in the laboratory, 1 colony of air in the laboratory equipment and materials storage room, 16 colonies of air outside the laboratory, 13 colonies of air near the laboratory bathroom. At the five sampling points, the number of microbial colonies still met the standard. However, the presence of microbes in the air needs attention, because indoor air quality can affect human health.

Abstract

Pukis cake is a traditional Indonesian cake. Pukis cakes are much liked by the public because pukis cakes have a savory and sweet taste so they become one of the attractions of the cake. Pukis cake has a lot of nutritional content. One of the parameters used in determining the feasibility and safety of food is to measure the microbiological content in food. Biological hazards, especially microbes in food, need attention because this type of hazard is often the causative agent of food poisoning cases. This research was conducted to know the Total Plate Count (TPC) in Pukis Cake. The study began with the isolation of microorganisms from Pukis Cake samples, followed by the calculation of the Total Plate Count (TPC). The results showed that the Total Plate Count (TPC) of the sample 1 was 1.19x104 colonies/g (>1x104), the sample 2 was 19.44x104 colonies/g (>1x104), samples 3 were 11.35x104 colonies/g (>1x104), samples 4 were 19.93x104 colonies/g (>1x104). These results show that the pukis Total Plate Count (TPC) exceeds the standard set by SNI Number 7388 of 2009, namely TPC with a maximum limit of 1×104 colonies/g.

Abstract

Sunlight does not always have a beneficial effect, the content of ultraviolet rays contained in it can harm the skin. Sunscreen is a substance that can protect the skin from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays. Carotenoids, provitamin A is one of the many natural antioxidants found in carrots. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical quality and SPF value of carrot extract sunscreen lotion (Daucus carota L), with the amount of carrot extract added as much as 10%. The research method used is quantitative experimental. The stages of the research included making Simplicia and making carrot extract, formulation and making carrot extract lotion, and testing the physical quality and SPF value of carrot extract lotion preparations. The results of the physical quality test for carrot extract lotion preparations, organoleptic, were yellow, smelled of oranges, and had a soft texture; pH of 7.59; spreadability of 5.5 cm; adhesiveness of 1.38; viscosity of 9990 cps; and an SPF value of 6.67. The conclusion from this study is that the physical quality of the carrot extract sunscreen lotion meets the standards, with the SPF value obtained classified as extra protection sunscreen.

Abstract

Pangan Fungsional adalah pangan yang karena kandungan komponen aktifnya dapat memberikan manfaat bagi kesehatan, diluar manfaat yang diberikan oleh zat-zat gizi yang terkandung di dalamnya. Olahan buah naga merah menjadi selai dapat memiliki nilai fungsi yang lebih tinggi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman kepada peserta pengabdian masyarakat dalam pengolahan buah naga merah menjadi selai. Sasaran kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah Ibu-Ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei serta ceramah langsung pendidikan kesehatan tentang pangan fungsional dan cara mengolah buah naga merah menjadi selai. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah ibu-ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan paham mengenai pangan fungsional, khususnya olahan buah naga merah. Adanya kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat kepada ibu-ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan serta dapat membuat dan menyediakan pangan fungsional secara mandiri, khususnya olahan buah naga.

Abstract

Dandruff can be caused by microorganisms such as fungi, one of which is Candida albicans. Candida albicans fungus can be inhibited with flavonoids, saponins, and alkaloids. One of the plants that contain this compound is cucumber (Cucumis sativus). Cucumbers are also able to stimulate hair growth and nourish hair loss. This research aims to determine the physical quality to determine quality and antifungal activity of cucumber fruit extract shampoo. The method used in this research was quantitative experimental with four formulas for varying the concentration of active substances from cucumber: F1 (0%), F2 (0.06%), F3 (0.08%), and F4 (0.1%). Cucumber extraction was done using the soxhletation method using 70% ethanol solvent.   The organoleptic test results showed that F0, F1, F2, and F3 had a clear yellow color, a typical herbal odor, thick texture; and homogeneous. The pH of F0, F1, F2, and F3 respectively is 8.52; 8.76; 8.62 and 8.86. The viscosities of F0, F1, F2, and F3 are 1352 mPas, 1441 mPas, 1631 mPas, dan 1690 mPas, respectively. The height of the foam F0, F1, F2, and F3 respectively is 8.3 cm; 8.6cm; 8.6cm; and 8 cm. Antifungal activity has an inhibition zone of F0, F1, F2, and F3 respectively, namely 21.22 mm; 22.47mm; 22.82mm; 24.35mm. The results obtained show that the cucumber extract shampoo meets the physical qualities and has very strong antifungal activity.

Abstract

Aterosklerosis merupakan masalah yang kronis dan progresif akibat respons inflamasi dan stres oksidatif yang menjadi dasar terjadinya penyakit kardiovaskular. Antioksidan yang sangat kuat dalam mengendalikan radikal bebas memiliki manfaat untuk mencegah penyakit kardiovaskular. Bahan alam asli Indonesia dapat digunakan sebagai sumber antioksidan. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dilakukan pendidikan kesehatan tentang suplemen bahan alam sebagai pencegah penyakit kardiovaskular di Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan, dengan tujuan memberikan pengetahuan kepada peserta pengabdian masyarakat tentang suplemen bahan alam sebagai pencegah penyakit kardiovaskular. Sasaran kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah Ibu-Ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah langsung dan demontrasi pembuatan ginger shot. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah ibu-ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan bertambah pengetahuannya mengenai suplemen bahan alam sebagai pencegah penyakit kardiovaskular. Kegiatan ini memberikan ibu-ibu PKK Desa Tegalyoso Klaten Selatan pengetahuan mengenai bahan alam sumber antioksidan dan ketrampilan pembuatan ginger shot.

Abstract

Background: Foot odor is a problem that often occurs, one of the causes being the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which contaminates sweaty feet and dirty shoes. Foot spray can be used to reduce foot odor. Telang flowers (butterfly pea) and coffee grounds can be formulated in foot spray to reduce foot odor because they have a distinctive aroma and contain flavonoid compounds as antibacterials. Purpose: This research aims to determine the antibacterial activity of foot spray using telang flower extract and coffee grounds against Staphylococcus aureus. Method: The research was conducted using the disc diffusion method. Foot spray was made in three formulas with varying concentrations of telang flowers and coffee grounds, namely I (0.5 : 0.125), II (1 : 0.25), and III (2 : 0.50). Result: The test results of three formulas showed yellow, orange and brownish purple colors, a distinctive odor of menthol, pH 4.54 - 4.56, viscosity 4.00 – 6.00 Cp and dry time 1 minute 1 second – 1 minute 53 seconds. The antibacterial activity test showed that foot spray had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with the diameter of the inhibition zone in Formulas I and II in the medium category, while in III it was in the strong category. This shows that the higher the concentration of telang flowers and coffee grounds, the greater the antibacterial activity. Conclusion: Foot spray made from telang flower extract and coffee grounds could reduce foot odor by inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
