Abstract

Before Subak farmers were familiar with tractors, land preparation was carried out using hoes or single-handed plows pulled by cattle. Land preparation with a tractor equipped with a complementary or rotary plow cannot be avoided in cases of overlap of processing results so that the processed soil results become inefficient. The overlapping results of the processing can be seen from the differences in the results of the processed soil. Based on these conditions, it is necessary to study the efficiency of tillage in Subak using single-axle tractors and rotary tractors in the first stage of tillage. Tractor work efficiency is measured based on a comparison between theoretical work and real work. Theoretical work is measured based on the width of the complement of the tiller, both short and rotary plows, and the average speed of the tractor's advance when cultivating the land. Real work is measured based on real work results in the field, namely the area ofland that has been successfully processed within a certain time span. Real work data was also confirmed based on the results of discussions with several tractor operators. From the results of the data analysis, it was obtained that the work efficiency of the short tractor was 77.3% and that of the rotary tractor was 55.2%.

Abstract

Coffee is a very potential raw material when utilized in the form of solid fuel. Coffee husk is classified as an agricultural waste and its processing is made into artificial solid fuel used to replace alternative energy s ources expressed as briquettes. Th e research objectives expected in this study are to get the effect of variations in the particle size of raw materials and the percentage that glues well to the characteristics of the briquettes created, and to get the tre atment that produces briquettes wi th the best characteristics according to SNI. The experimental design in this research uses factorial RAK through 2 factors consisting of particle size with 3 levels (S1: 30 mesh, S2: 40 mesh, S3: 60 mesh) and the second f actor is the percentage of adhesiv e with 3 levels (L1: 30%, L2: 35%, L3: 40%). The combined design of the research trial through 2 trials obtained 18 trial units. The parameters observed in this research are water content, ash content, compressive strength , mass density, volatile matter, b ound carbon and combustion speed. The results showed that the interaction between particle size and percentage of coffee skin briquette adhesive contributed significantly to the quality parameters of the briquettes created . T he treatment of briquettes with a particle size of 60 mesh and a percentage of adhesive of 40% (S3L3) was declared the treatment that created the best quality briquettes. The briquettes from the S3L3 treatment had a moisture content of 4.43% ( bb ) , ash co nte nt of 4.69%, compressive strength of 202.81 kgf/cm 2 , mass density of 0.64 g/cm 3 , volatile matter of 53.68%, bound carbon value of 51.01%, and burning rate of 0.032 g/min

Abstract

Land processing activities in Subak can reduce the develo pment of weeds, loosen the soil, and condition the biophysical properties of the soil. Subak in Bali is generally processed using hand tractors (either equipped with singkal plows or rotary plows). I f using a singkal plow, the stages of tillage include mak al (turning the soil), nyacahin (reducing the size of the chunks of soil), and then ngasahan (leveling). This research aims to determine the efficiency of land processing in the second stage of land processing in Subak using singkal tractors and rotary tra ctors. This research uses the observation method and measures the real (field) working capacity of the tractor used during land processing. Some of the assumptions used in this research are that the technical condition of the tractors used, the tractor acc essories used, and the operator's skills are assumed to be the same. The results showed that the performance efficiency of the rotary tractor in the nyacahin process (second stage of tillage) in Suba k was 41% and the performance efficiency of the singkal t ractor was 17.8%.

Abstract

Modification of a simple biocomposter basket was carried out because there were still shortcomings i.e. the support poles were not strong enough to support the net, the net used was not sturdy, the net hole was too large and there was no seat base. The purpose of this study was to modify the previously designed biocomposter basket, to test the performance of a simple household-scale biocomposter basket. The research was carried out in two stages, namely the stage of modifying the frame with the addition of support poles, the base of the seat at the bottom, then replacing the net. The second stage is a performance test with composting carried out for 60 days. Household organic waste and rice hull as raw materials were treated with: A1 (1: 0), A2 (1: 1), and 3 (1: 2). The frame construction is declared safe because it can support a compost load of 32 kg with tensile stress (σ) of the frame, which is 0.275 N/mm2 which is smaller than the allowable stress (σ) of the material, which is 48.1 N/mm2. The result of the modification is to strengthen the frame by adding 4 support poles, replacing the net with a size of 0.5 mm, and adding a seat base measuring 10 cm from the ground. Based on the results of the performance of the modified biocomposter basket, it shows that the 6 baskets have the same performance, for the best compost composition is produced at a ratio of A1 (household waste without mixture) because the raw materials for household waste have met the requirements of the C/N ratio from the beginning to the end of composting

Abstract

Waste segregation is important for improving the environment's health, and society also protects natural resources. The purpose of this study is to design an integrated and transparent trash bin to sort waste and test the feasibility and effectiveness of the design. The design of the trash bin is based on functional and structural design. Questionnaire data were obtained from testing the feasibility and effectiveness design. The black color is used in this trash bin because it is identic to hummus. The frame construction is declared safe because it can support a garbage load of 75 kg per unit with frame tensile stress (σ) of 57.119 N/mm2, smaller than the allowable stress (σ) of the 88.630 N/mm2. The integrated and transparent trash dimensions were 120x40x138 cm, with three acrylic units, namely organic, inorganic, and glass bottles and cans. Additional parts are the cover of the three transparent units, the roof, the wheels, and the plastic waste storage section. This trash bin was declared feasible because the test results stated that they agreed with the design results score of 74% - 91%. The results of testing the effectiveness of the integrated and transparent design of the trash bin, that is, most of the respondents were categorized as fast and appropriate in sorting waste

Abstract

Lettuce is a widely consumed vegetable in Indonesia. One method of cultivating lettuce is using hydroponics with a floating raft system, and further improvement can be achieved by applying an electromagnetic field. This study aims to determine the effect of electromagnetic field variations on lettuce growth, measured by the number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight. A solenoid was used as the source of the electromagnetic field, with three treatments: T0 without an electromagnetic field, T1 with 0.00027 Tesla, and T2 with 0.00047 Tesla. The research employed a completely randomized design with three treatments and five replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and LSD 5% test. The results showed that the application of an electromagnetic field significantly affected all observed variables, with the T2 treatment producing the best results: an average of 11.7 leaves, root length of 35.8 cm, fresh weight of 114.53 grams, and dry weight of 12.56 grams.

Abstract

Composting liquid organic fertilizer, composting efficiency may be gauged using the variation in material volume with headspace. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how the ratio of materials to headspace affects the rate of composting and the quality of the POC that results, as well as to identify the ratio of materials to headspace that yields the best POC quality in accordance with the minimal technical POC requirements based here on Decision of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. Composting uses an anaerobic system and the materials used are fruit and vegetable waste. The method used is a one-factor Completely Randomized Design. The factor used is the ratio of material and headspace, namely 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, and 5:1. The five treatment were repeated 3 times to obtain 15 experimental units. The research parameters include the initial content of the material, total microbial bioactivator, temperature, pH, material height shrinkage, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and C-organic content, C/N ratio, organic matter, EC, and total POC bacteria. Data obtained from observations were analyzed by ANOVA test and continued with Duncan's test. In general, the quality of the POC produced complies with the minimum technical requirements with POC temperature 29,3°C-29,8°C, POC pH 5,3-6,3, nitrogen content 2,01%-2,15%, phosphorus 2,02%-2,09%, potassium 2,03%-2,08%, C-organic 2,39%-3,69%, and total POC bacteria 5,31×107-3,12×109cfu/ml. The ratio of materials and headspace affect the rate of composting and the quality of the resulting POC. Treatment P2 (2:4) is the best treatment based on results of data analysis and parameters used.

Abstract

Disturbances in water distribution are also sometimes caused by the presence of rubbish and biasing factors (decreased discharge) also ignoring the flow of numbak (straight flow) and ngerirun (curved flow). With this understanding, farmers (krama subak) whose land is located downstream tend to get less water quota than they should. This research aims to determine the performance of irrigation water distribution management according to RPM values and criteria in traditional subak and semi-technical Subak. This research uses a descriptive quantitative method that explains events based on the RPM values of 30 buildings for (temuku) in Subak in Gianyar Regency. The research results showed that 30% had very poor irrigation water distribution performance, 30% had poor performance criteria, 13% had sufficient performance criteria, and 27% had good performance criteria. From these results, it is also possible to obtain a new dimension of the subak building using a proportional formula approach involving variables of the area of the subak provided with irrigation water, the area of the subak downstream, as well as a water flow disturbance coefficient of around 1.05 to 1.1.
