Abstract

Ranolewo, located in the Toraget Village, North Langowan District, North Sulawesi, is recognized for its geothermal manifestation in the form of hot springs, indicating the area's geothermal potential. The aim of this study is to characterize the fluid type of the hot spring manifestation in Ranolewo using geochemical methods. The findings reveal a temperature of 52°C at the manifestation site, with a pH level of 5.6, indicating acidic properties. The fluid type identified in the Ranolewo hot spring area is sulfate water. This is attributed to chemical analysis results showing sulfate as the dominant element, along with the presence of SO4 gas. Sulfate water typically forms at shallow depths due to the condensation of geothermal gases nearing the surface. Geothermal gases, comprising air and carbon, are generally dissolved within fluid content in deeper zones but separated from chloride water. Sulfate water is commonly found at the boundary area, not far from the main upflow zone.

Abstract

The stability of the atmosphere can affect the weather conditions in an area. This study aims to compare atmospheric stability carried out in Lake Linow which has two surfaces, namely the surface of geothermal manifestation and the surface without geothermal manifestation. In determining the stability of the atmosphere, researchers use the Richardson number method. To determine atmospheric stability using the Richardson number, data on wind speed and temperature at each altitude are needed. The measured height is 2 meters and 4 meters from the surface. The results of this study show that on the surface geothermal manifestations have unstable atmospheric stability with Richardson numbers -1.4729 to -0.1420, while on the surface without geothermal manifestations have 3 states of atmospheric stability, namely: stable, neutral, and unstable, with Richardson numbers -1.1316 to 0.9808. Therefore, it can be concluded that the state of the atmosphere on the surface of geothermal manifestations is more unstable, compared to surfaces without geothermal manifestations.

Abstract

Geothermal is a source of heat energy contained in hot water, rocks, water vapor as well as gases and minerals and others that cannot be genetically separated from a geothermal system. Geothermal energy is a renewable natural resource with high potential. The source of this energy comes from heating magma against water rocks together with elements contained in the earth's crust. North Sulawesi has the potential to become a geothermal development area, both directly and indirectly. The existence of hot springs shows that the research location in Sawangan Village has geothermal potential. This research aims to determine the fluid type and molecular functional groups of hot springs in Sawangan Village, North Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. Using geochemical methods using Cl-SO2-HCO3 and FTIR diagrams, it is known that the type of hot spring fluid in Sawangan Village is Bicarbonate (HCO3) and the molecular functional group is C=O, where the parent chain C binds HCO3 (Bicarbonate) which corresponds to fluid type results.

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement KIDOS (Knowledge Information Domain System) as an innovative solution within the educational management system in North Sulawesi Province. KIDOS is an advancement of the Education Management Information System (EMIS), utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and text mining technologies. Specifically, the system is designed to manage qualitative knowledge from school principals through analysis of best practice essays, mapped against the 14 Principles of Educational Management. KIDOS provides a digital platform for principals to document and share best practices and delivers automated feedback, sentiment analysis, and actionable managerial recommendations. The research methods included system design, functional testing, and evaluation using the IS Success Model and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The results indicate that KIDOS operates effectively, is well-accepted by users, and provides strategic insights for educational policy-making. The system is expected to strengthen data- and knowledge-based management practices and serve as a model for AI-based EMIS development in other regions. KIDOS demonstrates the importance of adaptive and contextual digital transformation in improving the quality of education services.

Abstract

The study is motivated by the importance of paying attention to democratic interaction among students in order to prepare them with the 21st-century competencies they need to possess. This research aims to understand the democratic interactions across different levels of students through Thematic-Explorative-Democratic Learning in physics at Tumimperas Waterfall. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with the subjects of the study being two groups of students from the Physics Department at Manado State University. Data were collected through observation and peer assessment based on eight indicators of democratic interaction. Data were analyzed through data collecting, reduction, display, and classification. The results showed that students from various levels were able to interact democratically with scores ranging from good to very good. This democratic interaction aids in the development of critical thinking skills, collaboration, effective communication, and social responsibility. Thus, Thematic-Explorative-Democratic Learning at Tumimperas Waterfall can be considered an effective learning activity in developing 21st-century competencies in students

Abstract

Indonesia is an area that is prone to natural disasters, one of which is earthquakes. Several strong earthquakes have occurred in North Sulawesi, causing extensive structural damage. This study aims to determine the seismicity parameter values a-value and b-value or to determine the level of fragility and seismicity in North Sulawesi. The earthquake data used is secondary data for the period 2019-2023 obtained from the Manado Geophysical Station, BMKG, North Sulawesi. The data obtained includes the date, time of occurrence, latitude, longitude, magnitude and depth of the earthquake. This study uses the Guttenberg-Richter method which is processed using Zmap software. From the distribution of earthquake data, it is known that a major earthquake occurred in 2019 with a magnitude of 7.1. The results of this study show that in 2019 it had a high a-value, namely 8.13. This shows that in 2019 in the North Sulawesi area there were relatively more earthquakes. The b-value results in this study show that in 2022 it has a high b-value, which is 1.32. This is influenced by elastic rocks that experience stress so that there is a change in shape or deformation called rock fragility. Seismicity vulnerability in the North Sulawesi region for the period 2019-2023 ranges from 6.16 to 8.13 with a rock fragility level range from 0.91 to 1.32

Abstract

This research aims to create or design an interactive physics learning media application using MIT App Inventor on GLB and GLBB topics. This research applies the MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Circle) method by Luther-Sutopo in the application creation process. The following stages in MDLC are concept, design, material collecting, assembly, testing, and distribution. The Android application created was tested using two stages in MDLC, namely the alpha validator and beta validator, where the alpha validator consisted of material experts and media experts. In contrast, the beta validator comprised 14 students majoring in first-semester physics education. The analytical approach used is a qualitative method and a quantitative method to assess how appropriate the learning media created is. The research shows the results, namely a) Creation of interactive physics learning media based on Android applications using MIT App Inventor on GLB and GLBB topics, b) The level of feasibility of interactive physics learning applications based on Android applications based on media experts, namely 91% or very feasible, and based on material experts. Namely 90.6% or very feasible, and c) Based on the implementation and results of trials with students, the level of feasibility of the Android-based physics interactive learning application is 84.46% or worthy of being an alternative reference source for physics learning on GLB and GLBB topics.
