Abstract

The prevalence of poor sleep quality in the productive age population in Indonesia is quite high. This study aims to analyze factors that influence the sleep quality level of the productive age population in Indonesia by an ordinal logistic regression model based on the Fifth Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS5). In this study, the response variable used is sleep quality with an ordinal scale of 5 categories and 12 predictor variables with 1 continuous predictor variable that is age and 11 categorical predictors including education, job status, smoking habit, health, gender, marital status, physical activity, religious, depression level, life satisfaction, and economic level with data of 28.743 respondents. The results of this study indicated that the ordinal logistic regression model with proportional odds model was more suitable to be used to analyze the sleep quality level of productive age population in Indonesia than non-proportional odds model. Based on the analysis result, it was found that among 12 predictor variables, variables that had a significant effect on sleep quality level were education, job status, smoking habit, health, age, depression level, life satisfaction, and economic. Keywords: IFLS, sleep quality, ordinal regression, productive age population

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of daily test items and non-test instruments (questionnaires) on Two-Variable Linear Equation Systems in junior high school, in terms of validity, reliability, discrimination power, and difficulty level. The method used was descriptive analysis with 64 eighth-grade students (academic year 2024/2025) as subjects. The findings show that all instruments are valid (essays are very high, multiple-choice questions and questionnaires are high), but the reliability of exam questions (essays and multiple-choice questions) is still in the moderate category. Further analysis of multiple-choice questions shows a predominance of easy difficulty levels (92%) and a number of items (25%) with poor discrimination power, indicating the need for item revision.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in improving students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in Statistics across Polya’s problem-solving stages. A quantitative pre-experimental approach with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design was employed involving 31 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a mathematical problem-solving test and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normalized gain (N-Gain), and Paired Sample t-test. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ mathematical problem-solving ability after the implementation of PBL (p < 0.05). The average N-Gain score was 0.59, indicating a moderate level of improvement, while classical mastery increased from 9.68% to 83.87%. Across Polya’s stages, the greatest improvement was observed in planning and carrying out solution strategies, whereas the reviewing stage remained the least developed. These findings indicate that PBL is effective in enhancing students’ mathematical problem-solving ability and suggest the need for explicit metacognitive support to strengthen reflective thinking during problem-solving activities.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the initial feasibility of a culturally grounded STEM instructional model that incorporates the Tamansiswa educational philosophy, encompassing Tri N (Niteni, Nirokke, and Nambahi) and Tri Ko (Cooperative, Consultative, and Corrective), to scaffold project-based learning while fostering students’ mathematical connection and collaboration skills. Employing an Educational Design Research (EDR) approach, the study collected data through expert validation sheets, implementation observation sheets, response questionnaires, mathematical connection tests, and collaboration observation sheets. Expert validation was analyzed using Aiken’s V and feasibility percentages, while implementation fidelity was assessed using Interjudge Agreement (IJA). Effectiveness was evaluated using Normalized Gain (N-Gain) and, following Shapiro–Wilk normality testing, either the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with rank-biserial r or the paired-samples t-test with Cohen’s dz, as appropriate. The study comprised analysis, design, and evaluation phases, including validation by five experts and a small-scale pilot involving 30 eighth-grade students from two junior high schools in Yogyakarta. The model demonstrated very high validity (95.42%; Aiken’s V = 0.86–0.96) and good implementation fidelity (mean IJA = 89.49%). Statistically significant improvements were observed in students’ mathematical connection skills (Wilcoxon Z = 4.78, p < .001; rank-biserial r = 0.87; N-Gain = 0.44, moderate) and collaboration skills (t(29) = 14.62, p < .001; Cohen’s dz = 2.67; N-Gain = 0.41, moderate). These findings provide empirical evidence that indigenous educational philosophy can function as a coherent pedagogical foundation, rather than merely as supplementary cultural content, for integrated project-based STEM learning. The study also offers practical implications for curriculum developers seeking to design culturally responsive instructional frameworks.
