Abstract

This study focuses on the phenomenon of the fandom subculture, namely the behavior of members of the Surabaya Army (a group of fans of the K-Pop BTS group based in Surabaya), especially regarding loyalty to their idol group. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, in which the researcher allows BTS fans to actively interpret their loyalty through their intersubjective, namely their experience of being a fan. The data collection technique was carried out through in-depth interviews to obtain the meaning of loyalty that was told by the Surabaya Army from their own point of view. The results of this study indicate that loyalty to an idol is interpreted as an obligation that must be done sincerely in return for the struggle of his idol. Information technology has also made the relationship between Army Surabaya and its idol transcend real life, which can be seen from the fact that the idol is considered a virtual lover or husband. They have developed a special bond or relationship with their idol group that only themselves can feel. The results also showed that the Surabaya Army loyalty to BTS had reached a stage called The Marriage.

Abstract

Seksualitas pada diri individu cenderung disembunyikan dan tidak dibagikan. Penelitian ini fokus pada pengalaman dan pemaknaan subjek akan seksualitas sehingga dapat melakukan pengungkapan diri (self-disclosure) pada media sosial Instagram. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, jenis penelitian deskriptif, serta metode penelitian fenomenologi dimana peneliti membiarkan subjek secara aktif membentuk makna melalui sisi intersubyektifnya yaitu pengalaman yang pernah terjadi terkait seksualitas. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam untuk memperoleh hasil dari sudut pandang orang pertama, yakni Sisil. Dalam penelitian ini berhasil ditemukan bahwa Sisil memandang seksualitas sebagai kesenangan dan kenikmatan, sehingga ia berani melakukan pengungkapan diri dengan menceritakan pengalaman seksualitasnya di media sosial. Sisil melakukan pengungkapan di media sosial Instagram sebagai bentuk ekspresi diri untuk memenuhi kepuasannya dalam berbagi pengalaman.

Abstract

The study examined the use of social media by public officials during the Covid-19 Pandemic, focusing on the Twitter accounts of the Java Province Governor. The accounts were studied as they were associated with four of Indonesia's governors with a high level of activity. The study employed a qualitative method. Data were collected from the given Twitter accounts, which contained pieces related to policies for the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic using the NCapture software. The results of the analysis showed that the four governors seemed to deliberately use social media and Covid-19 issues for various purposes ranging from the use of social media as an instrument of information and communication transparency, an instrument for internal government coordination to an instrument for political branding for 2021 Presidential Election. Based on the result of the analysis of the data obtained from Twitter accounts belonging to the governors of java Province Governor, Jakarta, a conclusion is drawn on account of the use of social media during the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract

This research focuses on the problematic meaning of opinion leaders' views on the Dolly Bangkit community development program initiated by the Surabaya City Government in response to the conflict following the closure of Dolly's prostitution site in Surabaya. The problems are described from the opinion leader's point of view. This research uses a qualitative approach and phenomenological methods. The aim is to describe the experience of opinion leaders in dealing with the Dolly Bangkit program, which in turn shapes the meaning of the program. The results indicate that there are problems with the experience as well as the meaning. On the one hand, this program is interpreted as a helpful program to change the negative image of the Dolly area. On the other hand, opinion leaders also interpret this program as an imaging event by the Surabaya City Government officials to show that they are responsible for the closure. They also saw that there was a neglect of several essential things in the community development program, such as the participation or involvement of the target community and training that facilitate the target community in finding solutions, as well as aspects of equality.

Abstract

Sexual violence in higher education is a sensitive topic as well as a topic that attracts the most media attention. For example, in early 2022, the Dean of one of the faculties at Riau University (UNRI) was suspected of harassing his students during the implementation of final project guidance. Since it was reported, this case has grabbed attention, appeared in the corners of social media discussions, and become a discourse in the mass media. Many media outlets, especially online media, have attempted to revisit the public's memory of sexual violence cases in Indonesia's higher education environment, and how these campuses have handled the issue of sexual violence. On the other hand, several universities in Indonesia have tried to show their 'concern' for cases of sexual violence that have occurred in Indonesian universities through campus "news" portals. The question that arises then is whether the media concern narrated in media portal news and campus concern in campus portal news are similar forms of concern. This research tries to answer this question by managing the news of media portals and campus portals in relation to the news of sexual violence in the campus environment using a qualitative approach with a narrative analysis method by utilizing a narrative model developed from the thoughts of Todorov (1977) to define the structure and plot of news narratives, and Propp (1968) to dissect the construction of meaning through characterization. By looking at the structure and characterization in news narratives, it is hoped that it can answer how the phenomenon of sexual violence is narrated by media portals and campus portals and what interests are behind the news narratives of sexual violence published by media portals and campus portals.

Abstract

Reputasi perusahaan turun akibat adanya krisis kepercayaan. Krisis diatasi dengan penggunaan brand ambassador dari kalangan artis. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menemukan strategi komunikasi pemasaran e-WOM melalui interaksi para followers Tokopedia dalam sosial media khususnya Twitter. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan metode netnografi, peneliti ikut berperan menjadi bagian dari followers @tokopedia untuk terlibat dalam dinamika interaksi di akun tersebut. Peneliti mengoleksi data dari komentar yang mengindikasikan adanya interaksi e-WOM pada konten @tokopedia, menulis catatan lapangan, serta melakukan wawancara mendalam dengan informan yang menjadi followers K-Popers di akun tersebut. Data dianalisis dengan aplikasi NVivo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan strategi komunikasi pemasaran Tokopedia melalui komunikasi e-WOM yang didasari motif pemujaan idol, keberadaan selebriti Twitter di akun yang berperan sebagai opinion leader, dan bias fanbase. Berdasar hal tersebut, Tokopedia dimaknai sebagai korporat yang kreatif dan dekat dengan konsumen melalui konten K-Pop, serta mampu meyakinkan followers untuk tetap memiliki kepercayaan, mengikuti akun @tokopedia dan menggunakan aplikasinya. Riset ini berkontribusi dalam menemukan strategi komunikasi pemasaran e-WOM melalui interaksi para followers Tokopedia dalam sosial media khususnya Twitter.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the frame for reporting on the political events of the Sibolangit Party KLB that occurred in March 2021, starting with the assumption that news is not only an incident report but also a reality construction practice carried out by journalists with various contexts or interests that surround it. In the political context, the practice of mass media reporting in Indonesia is often connected with the struggle for political power. This issue is what we want to unravel from the news about the Democrat Party KLB published by the four online media with the highest traffic in Indonesia based on alexa.com, namely okezone.com, tribunnews.com, detik.com and kompas.com. This research wants to see what kind of news frame is developed by each media, and how it is connected with the political context that surrounds it. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach, and the method of framing analysis developed by Gamson & Modigliani. The results of the study indicate that there are differences in the frames that are packaged in each media. Detik.com and okezone.com seem to develop a frame that the political events of the Democratic Party KLB are the product of engineering and power intervention outside the party (Presidential Palace). On the other hand, kompas.com and tribunnews.com tend to develop a frame that the KLB of the Democratic Party is the product of an internal political struggle without government intervention.

Abstract

Naskah ini merupakan literature review yang mengelaborasi pikiran Pierre Bourdieu tentang jurnalisme yang dapat digunakan sebagai perspektif alternatif dalam memahami dinamika praktik jurnalistik. Ada dua hal yang membuat pikiran Bourdieu menarik dan penting untuk dikaji dalam konteks jurnalistik. Pertama, perspektif Bourdieu masih jarang digunakan untuk memahami, mengutai, atau menginvestigasi dinamika yang terjadi dalam praktik jurnalistik. Padahal, konsep-konsep kunci seperti arena, habitus, dan modal dapat digunakan untuk menyingkap berbagai dinamika yang terjadi di dalam praktik jurnalistik. Kedua, orientasi teoritik Bourdieu mampu membuka ruang untuk memahami praktik jurnalistik tanpa harus terjebak ke dalam dikotomi perspektif yang kaku di antara perspektif ekonomi politik/organisasional/budaya dan perspektif cultural studies. Konsep kunci Bourdieu dapat digunakan untuk mengungkap kompleksitas praktik jurnalistik yang diabaikan masing-masing perspektif. Konsep kunci Bourdieu juga dapat membuat peneliti terhindar dari bahaya mereduksi praktik jurnalistik menjadi hanya sekadar proses makro (seperti politik, ekonomi, atau budaya yang berbasis struktur sosial objektif), atau sebaliknya hanya sebatas proses mikro (yang berbasis kebebasan atau kreativitas subjek). Dengan kata lain, konsep kunci Bourdieu digunakan sebagai alat analisis yang mampu mengkoneksikan dinamika praktik jurnalistik dengan struktur politik, ekonomi, sosial, atau budaya yang melingkupinya

Abstract

Naskah ini merupakan literature review yang mengkaji fenomena clickbait, konteks historis kemunculannya, konseptualisasi hingga perangkat analisis yang bisa digunakan untuk mendeteksinya. Clickbait tekait dengan artikel dengan judul menyesatkan, melebih-lebihkan konten pada halaman arahan, eksploitasi celah keingintahuan pengguna dan memikat mereka untuk mengklik tautan yang sering kali mengecewakan mereka. Tujuannya menarik pengguna mengklik judul untuk memonetisasi halaman arahan. Sebagai perangkat analisis, peneliti bisa menggunakan enam variabel (incomplete information, appeals expressions, repetition and serialization, exaggeration, soft news, dan striking audiovisual elements) yang dibagi ke dalam dua kategori, yaitu presentation variables dan content variables.

Abstract

Kajian ini berfokus pada manajemen komunikasi pelaku praktik reklamasi ilegal di pesisir Surabaya. Praktik ini disebut “nggacar” dalam bahasa lokal dan lahan reklamasinya disebut tanah “gacaran”. Penelitian ini bertujuan memahami manajemen komunikasi pelaku yang memungkinkan praktik ini dilakukan sampai sekarang sebagai hal normal. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa pelaku reklamasi memaknai reklamasi sebagai praktik sah sekaligus menjadi hak sejarah warga asli Kenjeran. Warga Kenjeran menikmati potensi ekonomi tanah leluhur dan menjadikannya sebagai instrumen protes terhadap reklamasi yang dilakukan pengembang perumahan besar.
