Abstract

Abstract. Digital transformation has fundamentally changed how gifted students interact with knowledge, yet emotional alienation and inequitable access persist despite technological opportunities. To systematically understand the meaning and experience of digital learning for gifted students through qualitative synthesis of international literature. Systematic searches were conducted in Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, MDPI, Taylor & Francis, and Google Scholar from January 2020 to September 2025. Peer-reviewed articles in English or Indonesian, published 2020-2025, focusing on digital learning for gifted/talented students in education, psychology, or learning technology fields, with full-text accessibility. Gifted students (high cognitive ability, above-average intellectual potential) engaged in digital learning environments across various educational contexts. Two independent reviewers conducted screening and selection following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Quality assessment used the CASP Qualitative Checklist. From 312 identified articles, 10 studies met inclusion criteria after systematic review. Three major themes emerged: (1) cognitive autonomy coupled with emotional loneliness in digital environments; (2) teachers' evolving role as human mediators amid algorithmic learning; (3) paradoxical inclusivity—technology expands access but fails to guarantee social acceptance. These findings reveal digital gifted learning success depends not only on technological sophistication but also on educational systems' capacity to restore relational and empathetic dimensions. Literature predominantly represents global/Western contexts with limited representation from Indonesian or Islamic educational settings. Secondary data analysis restricts depth of affective experience understanding. Digital gifted learning requires "relational personalization"—combining technological personalization with human connection, empathy, and meaning-making. Policymakers should balance efficiency with psychosocial wellbeing; curriculum developers must design collaborative, reflective learning; educators need professional development in meaning mediation, not just platform literacy.

Abstract

Poor sleep quality negatively affects students' cognitive abilities. Meanwhile, improperly managed academic stress and anxiety exacerbates sleep disorders, potentially impeding academic performance. This study aimed to examine the relationship between academic stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders among students. The research employed a quantitative, correlational design, with 109 students from Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kerinci, Indonesia, as research participants. Data were collected using instruments such as the Sleep Quality Scale (Cronbach's alpha 0.969), Academic Anxiety Scale (Cronbach's alpha 0.956), and Academic Stress Scale (Cronbach's alpha 0.980). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, as well as simple and multiple regression tests. The results indicate a correlation between the level of academic stress and academic anxiety and the incidence of sleep disorders in college students. In summary, higher levels of academic stress and anxiety increase the likelihood of individuals experiencing sleep disorders. It is expected that future research will expand the sample population to allow for more generalizable results for the student population.

Abstract

This study investigates the potential influence of self-control and self-regulation on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among students. FoMO is characterized by an apprehension of being excluded from significant experiences or opportunities. Individuals with low self-control may struggle to prioritize positive behaviors, potentially leading to heightened FoMO. Similarly, a lack of self-regulation, the ability to manage thoughts and guide actions towards goals, might exacerbate FoMO. The current research employs a quantitative, descriptive correlational design. The study population comprised 2,245 students from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kerinci. A sample of 304 participants, representing 10 departments, was selected. Data collection utilized three validated scales: the Self-Control Scale, the Self-Regulation Questionnaire, and the Fear of Missing Out Scale. The hypothesis proposing a significant negative association between self-control/self-regulation and FoMO was supported (p < 0.05). This suggests that both self-control and self-regulation have a combined effect on FoMO. In simpler terms, individuals with greater self-control and self-regulation may experience lower levels of FoMO. Future research could explore specific factors contributing to FoMO development. Additionally, expanding the sample size might enhance the generalizability of findings.

Abstract

The pervasive use of social media has led to a growing concern regarding social media-induced anxiety among university students. This study aims to integrate Islamic-based Behavioral Activation with the concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs, defined as the purification of the soul or self-purification, as proposed by Buya Hamka, to reduce this anxiety among university students. The method employed is a Single-Subject Experimental Design involving three participants from IAIN Kerinci, all of whom exhibited the highest scores of social media anxiety. Data were collected using the Social Media Anxiety Scale (SMAS) and analyzed through visual data analysis. The results indicate that all three respondents showed a significant decrease in social media anxiety levels from the beginning to the end of the observation period. Specifically, visual analysis revealed a substantial reduction in SMAS scores, with participants' anxiety levels consistently dropping from high initial scores to significantly lower post-intervention scores. The intervention phase appeared to have a substantial positive impact, and the reduction in anxiety continued into the follow-up phase, albeit at varying levels. These findings suggest that the Islamic-based Behavioral Activation intervention, grounded in the Tazkiyatun Nafs concept, is effective in alleviating anxiety caused by social media use among students. The significant decrease in anxiety scores during both the intervention and follow-up phases confirms that the observed changes are not merely the result of natural fluctuations but rather the outcome of the implemented intervention. This research contributes important insights into the development of psychological intervention strategies based on Islamic values to address anxiety issues in the digital age, offering a valuable approach for practitioners and a foundation for future research on culturally sensitive mental health interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the dynamics of early childhood care in farming families in Koto Rendah Village, with an emphasis on parental communication patterns, Islamic parenting approaches, and the influence of digital device use on child development. Using a qualitative case study approach, this study involved several families as key participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, then analyzed using thematic techniques to identify patterns of meaning that emerged from the participants' experiences. The results of the study show that limited interaction between parents and children has an impact on weak digital supervision, especially in a limited socioeconomic context. However, Islamic parenting values such as role modeling, compassion, and trust-based communication can serve as a strong foundation for shaping children's character and preventing the negative impacts of technology. This study highlights the importance of improving digital parenting literacy integrated with Islamic values and the strategic role of Islamic education counselors in providing family spirituality-based guidance. Conceptually, this study enriches the study of Islamic education and family counseling in the digital age. Practically, these findings are relevant for the development of parent assistance programs, mosque-based interventions, and values-based child education policies. This study also opens up broader exploration to understand the challenges of digital parenting in different cultural and economic contexts.
