Abstract

This study aims to explore family communication in the self- disclosure of students living away from home in Yogyakarta. The theory used in this study is the Self-Disclosure theory. The research method used is a qualitative. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation, and various sources of literature. The results of the study show that open and empathetic communication between parents and children are crucial for building trust and emotional support. The openness in sharing experiences and feelings helps students feel more connected to their families, which, in turn, enhances their ability to adapt to new environments. This research underscores the importance of creating a supportive communication environment for students living away from home to thrive optimally.

Abstract

Self-acceptance is the ability to acknowledge and embrace both strengths and weaknesses without self-judgment. This study analyzes the process and effects of self-acceptance portrayed in Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance using a literary psychology approach with a qualitative descriptive method. The analysis applies Kübler-Ross’s (1973) five stages of grief to explain the self-acceptance process of the main character and Najwa Zebian’s (2016) concept to examine its effects. Data were collected through documentation of film dialogues representing self-acceptance. The findings show that the process follows the stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The effects are reflected in internal peace and happiness, improved mental health, career, and relations. The film emphasizes the importance of authenticity and critiques social pressures and beauty standards that compel individuals, especially women, to sacrifice their true selves to meet idealized appearances, encouraging the courage to remain authentic despite societal demands.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penanganan sampah merupakan persoalan global yang terus meningkat seiring pertumbuhan populasi dan aktivitas manusia. Indonesia sendiri menghasilkan sekitar 69,9 juta ton sampah pada tahun 2023, dengan mayoritas belum terkelola secara optimal. Kondisi serupa juga terjadi di Kota Batam, khususnya di wilayah pesisir Rempang Cate, yang menghadapi rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat dan siswa sekolah dasar dalam membuang sampah pada tempatnya. Permasalahan utama yang ditemukan di SDN 009 Galang adalah kurangnya pemahaman siswa mengenai perbedaan sampah organik dan anorganik, serta dampak jangka panjang dari sampah anorganik. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, dilakukan program edukasi lingkungan melalui sosialisasi dan pemasangan plang edukasi lama terurai sampah dengan pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD). Kegiatan ini melibatkan siswa, guru, dan masyarakat sekitar, dengan tahapan discovery, dream, design, define, dan destiny. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa dalam membedakan jenis sampah serta kesadaran akan dampak lingkungan dari sampah anorganik. Selain itu, sikap siswa mengalami perubahan positif dengan meningkatnya motivasi membuang sampah pada tempatnya. Keberadaan plang edukasi juga berfungsi sebagai media visual berkelanjutan yang tidak hanya bermanfaat bagi siswa, tetapi juga masyarakat sekitar. Dengan demikian, program ini terbukti efektif dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran lingkungan sejak dini sekaligus memperkuat keterlibatan kolektif dalam menjaga kebersihan sekolah dan lingkungan pesisir.
