Abstract

AbstractMany activities arround Sepinang Lake contributes the input of organic and anorganic matter that influence the water quality, especially nutrient concentration in the water. This research was conducted of March – April 2018 in the Sepinang Lake and aims to understand the concentration of chlorophyll-a in the lake. Chlorophyll-a samples were collected from 3 stastions. In each stations there were two sampling sites, in the surface and 2 secchidepth. Sampling was done three times, once a week. Result shown that the chlorophyll-a content ranged from 4.32 µg/L – 9.24 µg/L. Based on the chlorophyll-a concentration, the Sepinang Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic to eutrophic. Water quality parameters values were temperature  30.6 0C - 31.50C, transparency 49.3 cm – 62.8 cm, depth 211 cm – 223.6 cm, DO 4.22 – 5.58 mg/L, CO2 9.32 – 15.98 mg/L  nitrate 0.065 -  0.231 mg/L, phosphate 0.089 – 0.135 mg/L and pH 5.2 – 5.6.Keywords : mesotrophic, water quality, oxbow lake

Abstract

AbstractMany activities in the Perupuk Lake contribute the input of organic and anorganic mattet that affects the nutrient concentration and increasing thr growth of phytoplankton. A research about Thophic State of Perupuk Lake by Phytoplankton in Kampung Pinang Village Kampar District Riau Province has been conducted in June-July 2019. The location of the water samples to measure water quality defined 3 stations, namely in the inlet, the curve of the lake, and in the end of the lake. In each station, there were 2 sampling points, namely in the surface (0.15 m) and 2 Secchi depth (0.90 m). Samplings were conducted 3 times at intervals of a week. Water quality parameters measured in this research were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 38 species of phytoplankton that were belonged to 7 classes, namely Chlorophyceae (16 spesies), Bacillariophyceae (4 spesies), Cyanophyceae (5 spesies), Euglenophyceae (1 spesies), Trebouxiophyceae (4 spesies), Cryptophyceae (1 spesies) dan Zygnematophyceae (7 spesies). The phytoplankton abundance of the Perupuk Lake was 46.481-74.959  cells/L. The most common type of phytoplankton present was Monoraphodium griffithii. Results shown that the temperaturewas 28-30 0C, transparency was 40-54 cm, depth was 1-2 m, pH was 5, dissolved oxygen was 5.02-6.81 mg/L, CO2 was 5.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate was 0.0125-0.9646 mg/L and phosphate was 0.0553-0.2235mg/L and. Abstract

AbstractThe decaying rate is the quantity of organic matter that can be decomposed by bacteria per unit time. To determine the decaying rate or the load of organic matter in the Inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir, Batu Bersurat village, research was conducted on June-July 2019. There were three stations namely station 1(tourism area and arround of this station there were palm’s plantation), station 2 (there were restaurant and trees arround of station) and station 3 (floating cage). Each station was determined three sampling points, namely in the surface (15 cm), 2 Secchi depth (330 cm) and 4 Secchi depth (660 cm). Sampling was conducted 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameter measured were dissolved oxygen, BOD5, temperature, pH, transparancy and depth. Results shown that the value of K was 0.18/day – 0.50/day.Water quality parameter such as: dissolved oxygen was 5.42 mg/L – 7.53 mg/L, BOD5 was 4.03 mg/L – 8.90 mg/L, temperature was 28.7oC –30.7oC, pH  was 5 – 5.2, transparancy was 145 cm –187.5 cm and depth was 17.7 m – 29.7 m. In the inundation of PLTA Koto Panjang reservoir in Batu Bersurat village, the decaying rate was faster than the accumulation of organic matter, except in floating cage area. Keywords : Load of organic matter, accumulation, dissolved oxygen, BOD5, water quality

Abstract

Abstract The carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aimed to assess the aquatic carrying capacity for extensive fishing in the Tanjung Balam Lake, Buluh China Village, Kampar District, Riau. The carrying capacity was determined based on primary productivity using chlorophyll-a value. A research was conducted June, 2019. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of lake) and station 3 (tip of lake). In each stations, there were 2 sampling point, in the surface and depth of 2 Secchi (90 cm). Sampling was done three times, once a week. Water quality parameters measured were chlorophyll-a concentration, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphate and nitrate concentration. Results shown that chlorophyll-a: 6.87 – 25.28 µg/L, transparency: 49 – 54 cm, temperature: 28.5 – 29.8 0C, pH: 5, dissolved oxygen: 3.2 – 7.3 mg/L, CO2 3.9 – 15.9 mg/L, phosphate: 0.042 – 0.148 mg/L and nitrate: 0.0125 – 0.0437 mg/L. Carrying capacity assessment based on chlorophyll-a in the Tanjung Balam Lake was 0.46 tons/year.Keywords: Kampar River, Oxbow lake, Primary Productivity, Water quality

Abstract

Abstract There were many activites in kolong of tin post mining in Baran Timur Village, Karimun Regency, Kepulauan Riau Province, contributed organic and inorganic materials that influenced concentration of nutrient (N and P) in the water and affect phytoplankton abundance and finally trophic state of waters. This research aims to know the trophic state waters of kolong tin post mining in Baran Timur Village Karimun Regency Kepulauan Riau Province based on phytoplankton abundance. A research was conducted during July 2019.  There were three stations namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (in middle of kolong) and Station 3 (outlet area).  There were 3 vertical sampling points, in the surface, in 2 Secchi depth and in 4 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 3 times, once/week. Result shown the abundance of phytoplankton was 23,918–179,758 sel/L, concentration of nitrate 0.043-0.061 mg/L, phosphate 0.085-0.135 mg/L, pH 5, dissolved oxygen 4.10-6.91 mg/L, free carbondioxide 3.32-7.32 mg/L, temperature 30.3-310C, transparency 73.3-78 cm and depth4-7 m. Based on phytoplankton abundance, the trophic state waters of kolong tin post mining in Baran Timur Village Karimun Regency Kepulauan Riau Province was mesotrophic. Keyword: Trophic State, Phytoplankton, Kolong Tin Post Mining

Abstract

AbstractThe research of phytoplankton abundance dynamics conducted in July-August 2019 at Lake Putus Pangkalan Baru village. A study aims to know the dynamics of phytoplankton abundance by spatial and temporal. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (in the end of the lake). In each stations, there were 2 sampling point, in the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate. Result shown that temperature 29-30 oC, transparency 59-65 cm, pH 5, DO 3.72-5.74 mg/L, CO2 5.99-10.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.020-0.046 mg/L, phosphate 0.028-0.053 mg/L. Phytoplankton abundance at the surface range 124,432-239,976 cell/L, and 2 Secchi depth range 73,326-124,431 cell/L. Temporal and spatial dynamics of phytoplankton abudance was influenced water quality such as transparency, nitrate and phosphate concentration. Keywords: Temporal, Spatial, Water Quality, Depth

Abstract

Abstract            Periphyton is a microorganism that attached to submerged substrate. This research aims to determine the trophic state of the Bakuok Lake in Aur Sati Village based on periphton abundance. This reseacrh has been conducted in July-August 2019. There were 3 stations, namely Station 1 (around the plantation area), Station 2 (settlements area) and Station 3 (around the net cages area). In each station there were two sampling points, namely in the surface (15 cm depth) and 2 Secchi depths (174 cm depth). The substrate used is a pipe substrate (10x11 cm2). Substrate placement done 1 week before sampling. Sampling were conducted 3 time, once/week. The periphyton samples were obtained by spraying the pipe surface with aquadest using a plastic sprayer. . The periphyton were preserved with lugol 1% was then identified using an identification book Prescott (1974), Belcher and Swale (1978), Yunfang (1995), Biggs and Killroy (2000). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide, nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4). Result shown  that there were 29 types of periphyton, belongs to 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (14 species), Chlorophyceae (6 species), Cyanophyceae (4 species), Euglenophyceae (2 species), and  Zygnematophyceae (3 species). Periphyton abudance found during the study ranged from 10 cells/cm2-1749 cells/cm2. The most commom periphyton type was Nitzschia acicularis. Based on the type of periphyton, it was concluded that the Bakuok Lake can be catagorized as oligotrophic.  Keyword: Trophic State, Water Quality, Nitzschia acicularis

Abstract

AbstractTrophic State Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. The TSI used physical, chemical and biological approaches to determine the trophic state and the result will be more representative for analyzing the trophical state of waters. To understand the trophic state of the Sungai PakuReservoir, a research has been conducted in May - June 2019. There were three sampling stations, namely station 1 (riverin zone), station 2 (transition zone) and station 3 (lakustrin zone). In each sampling station there were 3 sampling point of depth, in the surface, in 2 Secchi depth, and in 4 Secchi depth. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once week. Water quality parameter measured were total phosphorus, chlorophyll-a, transparency, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and Nitrate. Trophic status was calculated based on Carlson Trophic State Index (TSI). The water quality parameter values were as follows: transparency: 69.2 - 80.8 cm, total phosphorus: 0.056 - 0.176 mg/L, chlorophyll-a: 1.753 - 3.372µg/L, depth: 69.2 - 80.8 cm, temperature: 28 - 30oC, pH: 5, dissolved oxygen: 2.08 - 5.74 mg/L and nitrate: 0.08 -0.11 mg/L. Trophic State Index value of the Sungai PakuReservoir was 54.49 - 59.57, it can be categorie as light eutrophic .Keywords: Water Quality, Reservoir, Light Eutrophic

Abstract

In each station there were two sampling points, namely in the surface (15 cm depth) and 2 Secchi depths (174 cm depth). The substrate used is a bamboo substrate (10x11 cm2). Substrate placement done 1 week before sampling. Sampling were conducted 3 time, once/week. The periphyton samples were obtained by spraying the bamboo surface with aquadest using a plastic sprayer. The periphyton were preserved with lugol 1% was then identified and the abundance of periphyton (APHA, 2012) was calculated. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, depth, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide, nitrate and phosphate. Results shown that there were 25 types of periphyton, belongs to 5 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (16 types), Chlorophyceae (4 types), Cyanophyceae (2 types), Zygnematophyceae (2 types), and Eugelenophyceae (1 type). Periphyton abundance found during the study ranged from 1,928-8,558 cells/cm2. The most common periphyton type was Melosira granulata. Based on the type of periphyton, it was concluded that the area in Bakuok Lake, Aur Sati Village can be catagorized as eutrophic.  Keywords: Types, abundance, Melosira granulata, eutrophic
