Abstract

ABSTRACT            Periphyton is a microorganism that lives attached to a submerged substrate. This research aims to determine the type and abundance of periphyton in TepianBatu Lake and was conducted in June-July 2019. There are three sampling station, namely S1 (Inlet water channel connecting Lake TepianBatu with Kampar Kanan River), S2 (located floating net cages), S3 (there are water plants and oil palm plantations around the lake). Each station there were2 sampling points, namely the surface (20 cm from the surface of the water) and 2 Secchi (124 cm). The substrate is a glass substrate (8x3 cm2). Substrate placement done 1 week before sampling.Sampling was carried out 3 times with an interval of 1 week. Periphyton samples were collected by spraying glass substrates with distilled water. The periphytonwere preserved with lugol 1% and then identified using an identification book by Prescott (1974), Belcher and Swale (1978), Yunfang (1995), Bigg and Kilroy (2000). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide, nitrate and phosphate. Periphyton types found were 24 types consisting of 4 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae class (10 types), Chlorophyceae (9 types), Cyanophyceae (4 types), and Eugelenophyceae (1 type). Total periphyton abundance found during the study ranged from 5022-13176 cells/cm2. The most common type is Melosirasp. Based on the type of periphyton, it was concluded that TepianBatu Lake can be catagorized as eutrophic waters. Keywords: Types, Abundance,Melosirasp, eutrophic

Abstract

The palm oil industry liquid waste is rich in organic materials and thus it can be used as media to grow Chlorella sp. This algae needs organic materials for growing, and it may decrease the organic material contents in the waste. To understand the best concentration of palm oil industry liquid waste to grow that algae, the chemical composition of the algae reared in different concentration of waste, and to understand the organic materials decrement in the waste, a study has been conducted in April – May  2019. There was a CRD applied. The waste was mixed with aquadest in   5 different concentration, namely    P1 (0%), P2 (15%), P3 (20%), P4 (25%), dan P5 (30%). Results shown that the best algae population was in the   P4 (4.64 x 106 cells/mL), the best biomass was in P3 (0.77 gr/L) in the 12nd day culture.  The P0 provide the best results on fat (12.5%) and carbohydrate (24%) but shown the lowest of protein (16%), DO (1.10 mg/L) and chlorophyll-a (0.140 mg/L) and provide the worst CO2 content (8.77 mg/l). P3 shown the highest content of protein (45%).   P4 shown the highest chlorophyll-a concentration (0.403 mg/L) and O2 concentration (9.94 mg/L) and the lowest CO2 (2.75 mg/l). The P4 also shown the best result in decreasing organic materials content. Nitrate reduced, from 14.3 mg/L into 3.1 mg/L, while Phosphate reduced, from    1.87 mg/L to 0.33 mg/L respectively. In all treatment, the water temperature ranged from 280C to 300C and the pH was   6.33 – 9.50.

Abstract

This research was conducted on April to November 2015 in the and continued until September 2016. This study aims to determine the purpose of this study is to obtain a picture of population dynamics and distribution of fish Terubuk (T. macrura) based on data and information about: population density, gender ratio, size and growth, spatial distribution / spatial distribution And ruaya / Migration Fish in the waters of Bengkalis Regency. This research uses survey method, where fish terubuk serve as the object of research while Fishing Fishing Terubuk in waters of Bengkalis Province Riau Province as a place of research. That includes three districts namely Bengkalis District, Bukit Batu and Siak Kecil. Acoustic data is processed using SONAR ver.4 software. Based on research results the potential value of fish stock (pias) and terubuk female (terebas) is 26.9 tons / year, with the stock density reaches 17.2 kg / km2. The spawning areas are in the vicinity of Lalang Strait and P.Padang Strait until encountered by Bengkalis Strait in the peak phase of the bright moon and the peak of the dark moon. Survey results indicate that migration or outrageous fish ruaya not only affect spawning factors but there are other important factors namely growth and sex transfer factors, where pale fish will always be in deep strait deepwater (Terubuk Fish Sanctuary Area / Zone 1 -6). Long-term distribution of long-term fish does not indicate a shift in the capital progression, such as long frequency data, but only fish (pias), female fish (transplant), and transitional sex fish; Where the 'Pias' group is 20 cm below; Category 'Terubuk' size 20 cm and above.
