Abstract

This research is a descriptive study that generally aims to analyze the results of chemistry learning in the acid-base subject of class XI 4 students at SMKN 4 Pontianak in terms of their learning styles. Students at SMKN 4 Pontianak have varied learning outcomes and different learning methods and styles. Learning styles are very important to know for both teachers and students of class XI APL SMKN 4 Pontianak. With knowledge of learning styles, we can identify and use learning methods that best suit each student's learning preferences. This can result in a better and more effective understanding of the material, as well as increasing satisfaction in the learning process. The instruments for this research are a learning style questionnaire, interview guide. Based on the results of data analysis, information was obtained that the tendency for student learning styles to be dominated by the kinesthetic learning style for unimodal learning styles was 56.25% and the K-V learning style for multimodal learning styles was 18.75%. The students' learning outcomes on the acid-base material taught by the teacher show the following daily average scores: acid-base titration 70.3, Mohr titration 73.9, and redox titration 76.4.

Abstract

The learning of chemistry requires practical activities to assist students in understanding chemical concepts deeply and also to connect scientific principles with everyday life. However, practical activities often face challenges such as inadequate equipment and materials in laboratories, posing a challenge for educators to conduct practical-based learning. This article proposes the development of natural pH indicators based on bacterial cellulose to enhance acid-base learning in schools. These natural pH indicators are formulated by combining plant-based natural indicators with (Biocellulose) and immersing them in buffer solutions ranging from pH 1 to 14. The color changes produced by these natural pH indicators based on bacterial cellulose indicate different pH levels, serving as a reference for each solution measurement.These indicators are used in classroom learning during acid-base topics in the 11th-grade science classes. Stimulates curiosity and interest among teachers and students, leading to more engaged observations during the experiments.Overall, teachers and students perceive these natural pH indicators based on bacterial cellulose as effective tools for conveying acid-base concepts and enhancing engagement in practical-based learning methods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning model on the development of students' critical thinking skills and environmental concern through meta-analysis research. Meta-analysis was carried out on 33 relevant national and international articles. Data collection was carried out through a systematic literature search on academic databases such as Sinta, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Eric Journal. Based on the results of the study, it showed an increase in the average pretest score of 67.09 to 80.98 on the posttest, as well as the size effect (ES) which ranged from 0.66 to 0.89. Data shows that the application of PBL is able to improve students' analytical thinking skills while fostering awareness of environmental issues. PBL, as an authentic problem-solving-based model, has a significant positive impact with consistent results at various levels of education, both secondary and tertiary. This study also identifies factors that support the success of PBL, such as learning design, the quality of interaction between students and teachers, and the relevance of the context of the problems presented. With an average error standard of ≈ 0.05, the results of this study have a high level of reliability. These results have important implications for the development of education policies to integrate the PBL model in the curriculum to improve students' critical thinking skills and environmental concerns. This study concludes that PBL is an effective learning strategy in shaping students who are not only intelligent, but also care about environmental sustainability.       Keywords: meta-analysis, problem-based learning, critical thinking, environmental awareness.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1480-1497

Abstract

Family is the smallest unit in society that significantly contributes to protecting family members, one of which is protecting and preventing sexual violence against children and adolescents. The family intervention model (FIM) is a family-based intervention model through efforts to change cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects. This model seeks to impart knowledge and change parents' behavior concerning the issue of sexual violence in children and adolescents through the application of the family intervention model. This research used a quasi-experimental mixed-method with both quantitative and qualitative approaches. This study found that the paired sample t-test statistically showed that family intervention model contributed to changes in parental behavior toward sexual violence (p-value = 0.000). The results of the regression analysis showed that the family intervention model helped bring bout changes in family behavior toward sexual violence in children and adolescents, by 64%. It is importance to improve the role of parents in increasing communication and assertiveness within the family as a preventive measure against sexual violence.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan 4C (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication) setelah menggunakan lembar aktivitas perhitungan laju pertumbuhan populasi mikroba berbasis proyek pada pembuatan Nata de Dragon dan kelayakan lembar aktivitas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan metode pre experimental dengan bentuk one grup pretest-posttest yaitu membandingkan keterampilan 4C siswa sebelum dan sesudah mendapatkan perlakuan. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa terdapat peningkatan keterampilan 4C siswa setelah diterapkannya lembar aktivitas perhitungan laju pertumbuhan populasi mikroba. Lembar aktivitas tersebut setelah divalidasi ahli dan diuji coba layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan 4C.

Abstract

The problems that arise in class X MIA SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Ambawang related to the learning process have not carried out practicum activities due to limited facilities and infrastructure at school. This study aims to develop Electrolyte Box media on electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solution materials that are valid, practical and effective. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) ADDIE model. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 27 students of SMA Negeri 2 Sungai Ambawang. Validity is measured from the validator's assessment using the validation sheet, practicality is measured from the learner response questionnaire, then effectiveness is measured based on the pretest and posttest results of students. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistics. The results of the validity of the material and media aspects of the Electorlyte Box are 0.83 (very valid) and 0.79 (valid), respectively. The practicality test results in the initial and main field trials obtained very practical criteria with a value of 98.43% and 96.30% respectively. The effectiveness aspect in the initial and main field trials was 0.73 and 0.71 with high criteria. Therefore, the learning media in high school that has been developed is suitable for use as learning media.

Abstract

The teaching media that a teacher uses can have an impact on the comprehension and memory of the students. Chemical bonding material is one of the learning resources that educators are encouraged to employ to assist and promote more creative, engaging, and enjoyable learning experiences. Chemistry Edutainment media is one type of educational resource that can be employed. This study attempts to characterize student learning retention following chemistry lessons using chemistry edutainment on chemical bond material for class X MAN 3 Pontianak, as well as to ascertain the validity, practicality, and efficacy of chemistry edutainment media. The methods of measurement, observation, and interviewing are employed in the data collection process. Student learning outcomes assessments, observation sheets, and interview sheets were the instruments utilized to collect the data. The study employs the ADDIE method, yielding validation rates of 93.3% for the material aspect and 90.6% for the media aspect. These percentages denote a high level of validity. The practicality percentages, derived from the initial and main field trial questionnaire responses, are 87.17% and 94.03%, respectively, indicating a high degree of practicality. Moreover, the effectiveness analysis, based on the learning outcomes following the use of Chemistry Edutainment media, resulted in N-Gain scores of 0.92 and 0.71 for the initial and main field trials, respectively, meeting the high effectiveness criteria. The retention percentages obtained in the initial and main field trials are 75% and 89.97%, respectively, which meet the high retention criteria.

Abstract

The conventional printed modules used in schools have not been able to make students active and understand chemical concepts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an interactive multimedia-based e-module grounded in Project Based Learning (PjBL), equipped with videos, images, and interactions to engage students and facilitate easier comprehension of chemical materials. The iam of this study is to improve the learning outcomes of class XI Science Muhammadiyah 1 High School Pontianak. The method used in this research is development (research and development) employing the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The research findings indicate very high criteria with an average validity coefficient of 0.93 for each aspect of media, materials, and language. The practicality analysis, based on the response questionnaires from the small group trial and the main field trial, showed practicality values of 71% and 74%, respectively, both with practical criteria. It can be concluded that the project based learning e-module developed is feasible to be used as an effective and practical learning tool for XI Science students and chemistry teachers in high schools.

Abstract

Analisis soal memiliki peranan penting dalam mendapatkan kualitas butir soal yang baik untuk dijadikan sebagai alat evaluasi. Namun, fenomena yang terjadi banyak guru yang belum menganalisis kualitas soal. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kualitas soal UAS Biologi kelas X dan XI MIA SMA Negeri 1 Terusan Nunyai berdasarkan analisis teoritis dan empiris. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasilnya kualitas soal kelas X berdasarkan analisis teoritis 32% baik, 20% sangat baik, 12% sedang, 28% kurang baik, dan 8% tidak baik. Sedangkan kelas XI 52% sangat baik, 36% baik, 4% kurang baik, dan 8% tidak baik. Kualitas butir soal kelas X berdasarkan analisis empiris 48% sedang, 20% kurang baik, 16% tidak baik, dan 16% baik. Pada kelas XI 32% baik, 24% kurang baik, 20% sedang,12% sangat baik, dan 12% tidak baik. Level kognitif yang digunakan kelas X C1 dan C2, serta kelas XI C1,C2,C3,dan C4. Mayoritas kualitas soal kelas X secara teoritis merupakan soal yang baik dan secara empiris sedang, serta mayoritas kualitas soal kelas XI secara teoritis sangat baik dan secara empiris baik.
