Abstract

The teacher’s ability to identify students’ sensory motor skills is very important. Sensory motor skills are the foundation for children’s handwriting skills. However, there is no instrument to measure teachers’ abilities in this regard. This study aims to test the validity and reliability of the instrument measuring teachers’ pedagogical knowledge in identifying students’ sensory-motor abilities. The data was collected using a questionnaire. A total of 552 teachers responded to the survey. The data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The study results have developed a questionnaire with four construct components with 39 items. All four constructs have a high-reliability index. The EFA analysis indicated that all items were accepted with high agreement. The results prove that the instrument is highly valid and reliable. Based on the test results, this instrument is recommended for measuring pedagogical knowledge teachers in identifying sensory-motor abilities for elementary school students’ handwriting readiness. The measurement results can be used to determine appropriate training for teachers in developing the sensory-motor abilities of elementary school students. The innovation of this research is the development and validation of an instrument that can measure teachers’ pedagogical knowledge in identifying the sensorimotor abilities of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is prompted by the prevalence of child delinquency cases, encompassing issues such as bullying, lack of manners, and early-age smoking.  Concerns arise regarding the potential implications of these juvenile delinquencies on subsequent behaviors in adolescence.  The primary objective of this study is to delve deeper into the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Islamic values education model based on Muhammadiyah school culture at the Muhammadiyah Flagship Elementary School.  The focus is on understanding the role of schools in instilling character values and exploring the benefits of the Rahmatan Lil Alamin Islamic values education model within the context of Muhammadiyah school culture, particularly in strengthening character values at the Lemahdadi Muhammadiyah Leading Primary School. This research employs a qualitative methodology with a descriptive analysis approach.  Data collection, analysis, and description occur simultaneously to address the formulated problem.  The research findings reveal that programs rooted in Muhammadiyah school culture,  including strengthening students' daily worship, Hizbul Wathan training, sacred footprint training, leadership training, market day, Tahfidz Qur'an, and language strengthening in foreign and regional languages, effectively instill the Islamic values of Rahmatan Lil Alamin in students. Teachers play a crucial role in this process through integration into school culture and internalization in religious activities. The various models of Rahmatan Lil Alamin Islamic values education, grounded in Muhammadiyah school culture, significantly contribute to the transformation of students' character and behavioral values. The outcomes indicate a positive shift towards humanist, tolerant, friendly, and democratic attributes among students.

Abstract

This study aims to map the development, thematic structure, and emerging research trends related to the integration of digital technology in STEAM learning at the primary school level through a bibliometric approach. Data were collected from Scopus-indexed publications published between 2016 and 2025 and analyzed using Bibliometrix R-Package and VOSviewer. The analysis examined publication growth, subject area distribution, patterns of authorship and international collaboration, and keyword co-occurrence to identify thematic clusters and research dynamics. The findings indicate a steady growth of publications with a strong interdisciplinary orientation, primarily involving social sciences, computer science, and engineering. Thematic mapping reveals a noticeable shift from the use of digital technology as a supportive learning tool toward its role as a pedagogical component in developing computational thinking, interactive digital learning environments, and 21st-century competencies within primary STEAM education. Emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, game-based learning, robotics, and teacher-related pedagogical design have gained increasing attention in recent years, although their conceptual integration within a holistic STEAM framework remains limited. Overall, this study provides a comprehensive overview of the current research landscape and highlights evolving directions in digital technology–integrated STEAM education at the primary level.

Abstract

Purpose — In the context of the dominance of secular paradigms, this study reconstructs the Adversity Quotient (AQ) by integrating Islamic spiritual anchors Sabar, Tawakkal, and Ukhuwah as a spiritual foundation shaping students’ responses to adversity. Using a phenomenological perspective, the research examines how faith-based values are experienced and interpreted in Muhammadiyah secondary schools in relation to bullying. Design/methods/approach — This research used a qualitative approach by synergizing Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) with the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (MHS) framework. IPA was used because of its idiographic depth to capture the double hermeneutic of students’ spiritual resilience, while the MHS framework upheld procedural sharpness through data condensation and systematic pattern verification. Data were collected from nine purposive informants at SMA Muhammadiyah Imogiri, Yogyakarta, through in-depth interviews and observations, ensuring a balanced synthesis between individual life experiences and structured thematic findings. Findings — The findings indicate that the internalization of Islamic character values and adversity quotient functions as an existential anchor, enabling students to reinterpret challenges as opportunities for spiritual growth. This meaning-making process strengthens students’ AQ and supports restrained responses to bullying by framing conflict as spiritual testing (ibadah). However, students with disabilities continued to experience vulnerabilities in school social relations, reflecting differing horizons of meaning among student groups. Research implications/limitations – By foregrounding subjective meaning and lived experience, this study contributes to Islamic education discourse through a value-oriented interpretive framework. The findings are limited to Islamic school contexts and do not fully represent experiences in general schools or those of students with disabilities. Originality/value – This study bridges Islamic spiritual values with AQ dimensions, positioning faith-based practices as interpretive resources supporting students’ resilience in responding to bullying.
