Abstract

Character education has become an important issue in the global education system, especially in the modern era characterized by rapid social, technological, and cultural changes. This study aims to explore the integration of moral values derived from the hadith of Prophet Muhammad in strengthening character education in the contemporary education system. A qualitative research method was used with a literature study approach and content analysis of hadiths related to character education, such as honesty, justice, empathy, responsibility, and humility. The results showed that hadith as the second source of Islamic teachings after the Qur'an, contains universal values that are relevant to forming noble individual characters. These values include honesty, compassion, justice, patience, and care for the environment, all of which can be integrated in the modern education curriculum. This research confirms that hadith-based character education is able to answer the challenges of moral degradation in the era of globalization, while offering practical solutions in building a young generation with integrity, social responsibility, and noble character. The implications of this research include the development of a hadith-based character education model, increasing the capacity of educators in teaching moral values, and collaboration between schools, families, and communities in strengthening character education. The integration of values from the hadith into the contemporary education system is a strategic step in creating a harmonious, just and civilized society.

Abstract

This study examines gender education in the perspective of hadith as an effort to develop equality in formal education. The study aims to analyze the understanding of the concept of gender in hadith and its implications for formal education in Indonesia. Using a qualitative method with a content analysis approach, the study explores hadith-reports on gender, including the creation of women, conjugal responsibilities, women’s leadership, and partnership between men and women. The results show that the traditions provide an understanding that men and women are equal, albeit with different roles and responsibilities. The main obstacles in gender-related formal education are gender bias in learning materials and stereotyping of gender roles in the school environment. Islamic education plays an important role in removing these biases through contextualized and fair interpretation of hadith. In conclusion, the integration of moral values and gender education in the formal education system can create a more just and harmonious society. The implication is that collaboration between educators, policymakers and communities is needed to ensure gender equality in formal education.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of digital jihad from a Qur’anic perspective as a normative, ethical, and strategic response to the complex challenges of cyberspace in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The research is motivated by the growing integration of digital technology in religious life, alongside the proliferation of disinformation, algorithmic manipulation, and AI-enabled simulations of religious authority. Employing a thematic interpretation approach (tafsīr mawḍū’ī), the study analyzes Qur’anic verses, particularly QS. al-Hajj [22]:78 and QS. al-Furqan [25]:52, which emphasize nonviolent jihad rooted in knowledge (‘ilm), argumentation (ḥujjah), and Qur’anic ethics. The findings indicate that digital jihad is a multidimensional effort encompassing educative da’wah, resistance to digital radicalism, counter-narratives against extremism, and the ethical deployment of AI. It also entails proactive engagement in fostering a digital Islamic civilization grounded in moderation (wasatiyyah), truth verification (tabayyun), and moral responsibility. The primary contribution of this study lies in conceptualizing digital jihad as a transformative, adaptive tool for da’wah that enables Muslims to ethically navigate and shape digital spaces within a value-based framework. This research thus expands the discourse on jihad beyond militaristic interpretations, offering a contemporary Qur’anic paradigm that is both intellectually rigorous and practically relevant to today’s socio-technological realities

Abstract

This study aims to generate an authentic interpretation of the hadith "You know better about your worldly affairs," analyzed from the aspects of sanad (chain of narration), matan (text), cause of revelation, and intertextuality with Quranic verses and other hadiths. The research method employs a qualitative approach with library research. Data is collected through in-depth study of authentic hadith and tafseer literature. Data analysis techniques apply an interactive content analysis model covering data reduction, data display, drawing and verifying conclusions. The findings reveal that human life is divided into two domains: the hereafter (faith and worship) which must be guided by Islamic texts, and the worldly domain (etiquette and transactions) which is further divided into matters that have been regulated in detail in the texts and matters that have not. The hadith about "you know better about your worldly affairs" belongs to the latter category which has no detailed regulations from the syariah. Although general ('aam) in meaning, this hadith only applies to areas without detailed rules from the syariah. Thus, the Prophet's ijtihad could be right or wrong in this domain. This does not contradict Surah al-Najm:3-4 since it pertains specifically to the Quran's truth, not all sayings of the Prophet. Therefore, an authentic interpretation is obtained in line with the research objectives.

Abstract

Suicide is a serious mental health issue that affects many adolescents around the world, including Muslims. Although Islamic teachings strictly prohibit suicide, the phenomenon persists, indicating a gap between religious teachings and the reality faced by adolescents. Various factors, such as academic pressure, identity conflict, and the influence of social media, contribute to the increased risk of suicide among adolescents. This study aims to explore the hadith perspective on suicide and develop a prevention model based on Islamic teachings, with a focus on adolescents. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach. Data were collected through a literature study that delved into hadith related to suicide, as well as literature that discussed psychological factors such as depression, anxiety, and stress. This approach allowed the researcher to provide a comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings and the factors that influence suicidal behavior. The results show that the traditions that discuss suicide are of authentic quality and provide strong moral guidance. They emphasize the prohibition of suicide and teach the importance of valuing life and finding solutions to difficulties. In addition, this study found that the integration of psychological and spiritual approaches in addressing the problem of suicide is still less than optimal. This study recommends the development of a suicide prevention model that integrates hadith values with psychological approaches. By creating a supportive environment, comprehensive religious education, and adequate psychological support, it is expected to reduce the suicide rate among Muslim adolescents. These efforts are essential to building better mental resilience and creating a healthier and more productive generation.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the concept of emotional intelligence from the perspective of the Prophet Muhammad’s saw. hadith and its implementation in education, particularly in character education at schools. Emotional intelligence includes the ability to recognize, regulate, and redirect emotions in a healthy and proportional manner. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods, drawing on authentic hadiths and relevant academic literature. The findings show that the Prophet saw. provided practical examples of recognizing and managing emotions through prayer, physical actions (such as remaining silent, sitting, lying down, and performing ablution), and offering new meaning to emotional situations. In educational practice, emotional intelligence can be instilled through teacher guidance, self-reflection routines, and spiritual approaches based on Islamic values. Therefore, the concept of emotional intelligence in hadith is highly relevant to strengthening holistic character education.

Abstract

Abstract The rapid growth of the global halal industry demands marketing strategies that are not only competitive but also grounded in Islamic ethical values. This study aims to examine the concept of innovation and creativity in halal product marketing through a thematic analysis of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ hadiths related to business ethics, honesty, trustworthiness, and the prohibition of deceit in trade. The research employs a qualitative approach using the thematic hadith (maudhu‘i) analysis method through a literature study of primary and secondary sources. The results indicate that the Prophet’s ﷺ hadiths encourage entrepreneurs to innovate and act creatively in economic activities, as long as these efforts do not violate the principles of halal, justice, and honesty. The application of hadith values in halal marketing encompasses three main dimensions: ethical (moral foundation), creative (value innovation), and spiritual (barakah-oriented). These three dimensions are interrelated in forming a model of halal marketing that not only enhances competitiveness but also promotes economic blessing (barakah) and social welfare. This study concludes that hadith-based halal marketing serves as both a form of Islamic economic da’wah and a tangible contribution to building a just and sustainable Islamic economy. Future research is recommended to conduct empirical studies to examine the implementation of hadith values in the practice of halal product marketing.
