Abstract

Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) is an important that could improve plant growth. Actinomycetes is one group of bacteria that could produce IAA. The purpose of this study was to examines the potential of actinomycetes from Siak, Riau Peatland in producing IAA the effects to red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) germination. The result of this study was collected 21 isolates of actinomycetes which able only to produced IAA in SCB (Starch Casein Broth) medium with tryptophan addition. The produce highest IAA in L225 isolate with concentration 37,70 ± 1,00 µg/ml by medium SCB with typtophan addition. 14 isolates gave respons for length of sprouts parameters and 20 isolates gave effect to the root length parameters for red pepper seeds with incubation for 15 day.

Abstract

This study aims to isolate Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) from traditional fermented food of kapiek fish (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) from Pangkalan Serai Village, Kampar Kiri Hulu, Riau which has antibacterial activity and is a candidate for biopreservative agent. The methods used in this study were isolation, partial characterization, antibacterial activity test, and biopreservative test. The results showed that the initial isolation and characterization of pakasam obtained 2 isolates (isolate P1 and isolate P2) known as the genus Enterococcus spp. and 3 isolates (isolate P3, isolate P4 and isolate P5) from the genus Lactobacillus spp. Isolate P5 has the potential as a candidate for probiotic agent because it can grow at pH 3, extreme salt content, and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Isolate P5 has the potential as a candidate activity against Escherichia coli ATCC 35128 of 8.5 ± 0.8 mm and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213 of 6.6 ± 0.1 mm after the cell-free supernatant was heated for 15 minutes at 100ºC. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the types and detect the content of secondary metabolites of macroscopic fungi that are predominantly found in the Sultan Syarif Hasyim Forest Park. The method used in this study was an exploratory method in logged-over areas. The macroscopic fungi found were identified, and the dominant fungi were tested for chemical compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, and saponins. The morphological characteristics observed were referenced in identification books, applications such as Mushroom Identifier, and websites: champignouf.com and inaturalist.org. Based on the results of the identification of macroscopic fungi in the Sultan Syarif Hasyim Grand Forest Park in Riau Province, there are 10 families with 18 types of macroscopic fungi, namely Fomes fomentarius, Lentinus sp., Microporus affinis, Microporus xanthopus, Pycnoporus sanguineus, Trametes pubescens, Trametes ochracea, Trametes villosa, Auricularia mesenterica, Crepidotus sp., Baeospora myosura, Ganoderma lobatum, Galerina sp., Gymnopilus sp., Fomes fomentarius, Mycena galericulata, Oudemansiella furfuracea, Nigroporus vinosus, Suillus bovinus, and chemical compound testing was conducted on 6 types of fungi, namely Fomes fomentarius, Microporus xanthopus, Microporus affinis, Pycnoporus sanguineus, Ganoderma lobatum, and Trametes ochracea. All dominant fungal species showed positive saponin results. Fomes fomentarius and Ganoderma lobatum showed positive terpenoid results. In conclusion, this study found macroscopic fungi that have potential as medicine. Keywords: Basidiomycota, Exploration, Macroscopic fungi, Sultan Syarif Hasyim Forest Park, and Chemical Compound Testing
