Abstract

Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) offers a potential solution to traffic congestion driven by urban growth, particularly in the area of public transportation. PT KAI and Perumnas have pursued TOD by developing mixed-use areas integrated with train stations to enhance access to surrounding neighborhoods. This study examines the implementation and development potential of TOD at three sites: Tanjung Barat, Pondok Cina, and Rawa Buntu stations. Using a comparative evaluative method, each site was assessed based on the eight TOD principles defined by the ITDP: walk, cycle, connect, transit, mix, densify, compact, and shift. The results show that none of the sites fully implement all eight principles, with scores only reaching the minimum threshold of the Standard Bronze category. Rawa Buntu Station failed to meet even this minimum standard, while the highest score was achieved by the TOD apartment area at Pondok Cina Station, followed by Tanjung Barat. Score differences were mainly influenced by the diversity and quality of surrounding functions, facilities, and infrastructure.

Abstract

Abstract

Mangrove forests play a crucial role in protecting coastlines from erosion, enhancing biodiversity, and providing resources for surrounding communities. This literature-based study highlights how mangrove forests serve as natural barriers against the threats of climate change and sea level rise by absorbing waves and preventing erosion. Additionally, mangrove forests also play a role in absorbing and storing carbon, aiding in climate change mitigation. On the other hand, the natural beauty and rich biodiversity in mangrove forests offer significant potential as ecotourism destinations. Ecotourism, if managed properly, can provide economic benefits to local communities while maintaining the sustainability of the ecosystem. Therefore, sustainable and inclusive management is necessary to ensure that the economic benefits of ecotourism can be enjoyed by the surrounding communities without damaging these vulnerable ecosystems

Abstract

Architecture exists because of the response to the needs of human social relationships. Space is one part of architecture that is very important for use in everyday human life, one of which is social interaction space. Urban kampongs are settlements in Jakarta that contain social interaction space for dwellers. This space is an important space and is often discussed in the scope of architecture, but there has been no special review of the aspects that form the social interaction space used by dwellers of urban kampongs in Jakarta. Therefore, it is important to conduct a special study that discusses the aspects that form the social interaction space in urban kampongs. This study is a literature study that uses a qualitative method with a narrative descriptive analysis approach. The basic literature used is an understanding of spaces from the perspective of sociology, anthropology, and geography. The results of the study show that the social interaction space of dwellers of urban kampongs in Jakarta is greatly influenced by non-physical aspects (socio-cultural) and physical aspects (location). This study is very useful for enriching the theory regarding the social interaction space of urban kampongs in particular and the theory of spatial design in general.

Abstract

Abstract - Indonesia has a variety of urban tourism village scattered in various regions. The tourism village has various themes according to the character of the are and the residents of the village. Such as Batik Village, Ceramic Village, Rainbow Village, etc. The presence of the concept of an urban tourism village doesn not only occur in Indonesia, but also occurs in various other countries such as Gamcheon Culture Village in Korea, Chefchaouen in Marocco, Marsaxlokk Village in Malta, etc. With the presence of the concept of tourism village, it provides novelty for both humans (tourist and villagers) as the users of space accompanied by their activities. Based on these problems the authors are interested in conducting this research. This research will discuss about what is meant by a tourist village, how tourism activities occur in the two study objects and how architecture as a physical element plays a role in the activities in it. The purpose of this study is to describe how far a village called a tourist village is feasible as a tourist place by introducing the tourism criteria, what are the criteria for a village to be called a tourist village. This research is a descriptive qualitative research, using Kampung Lawas Maspati and Kampung Pelangi Kenjeran as objects of study to be compared based on the tourism criteria itself, to further examine how the physical (architectural) element settings play a role in accommodating tourism activities in the village itself. So that how far the two objects of study meet the existing tourist criteria so that they are feasible as tourist attractions. With this research, it is hoped that it can provide an understanding of what is meant by a tourist village and the importance of the role of architecture in realizing the tourism village it deserves. The results of the research show that the physical elements in Kampung Lawas Maspati meet the three criteria that a tourism village needs to have and there are tourism activities organized by local village managers, while Kampung Pelangi Kenjeran has not fulfilled existing tourism criteria, the availability of physical elements in Kampung Pelangi Kenjeran is very minimal. This proves that the term "tourism" in Pelangi Kenjeran village is still not appropriate as it should be. Key Words: setting, physical elements, activity, urban tourim village

Abstract

Abstract - Cireundeu Traditional Village is one of the traditional villages that still exist today. Located in Leuwigajah Village, South Cimahi District, Cireundeu Traditional Village has Sunda Wiwitan as the root of indigenous identity. Like a traditional village, there are many traditions, cultures, ancestral values, and rules handed down by previous elders. However, the rapid flow of globalization that is currently happening can have an impact on the meaning of customary values in the Cireundeu Traditional Village. “Miindung ka time, mibapa ka era” – is one of the established principles which means that humans must grow and develop by following the progress of the times while still preserving the inherited culture. The existence of this principle makes the indigenous people of the Cireundeu Traditional Village open to the development of the times. This openness can affect the meaning of existing customary values, especially regarding village arrangements and patterns of spatial arrangement in buildings. The purpose of this study was to examine the consistency of the arrangement, as well as the customary values of buildings with a residential scale in the indigenous people of the Cireundeu Traditional Village. The research was conducted with the hope of exploring what is behind the arrangement of the Cireundeu Traditional Village and how the consistency of indigenous peoples is in following the arrangement. The research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out by direct observation in the field, conducting interviews with figures who were considered to understand the history of the Cireundeu Traditional Village, and searching for secondary data using literature studies from previous research so that previous documentation about the Cireundeu Traditional Village could be obtained. Based on the collected data, it is concluded that the arrangement of the Cireundeu Traditional Village is based on the applicable rules and regulations regarding the placement of the main door and side door. Based on virtual documentation that was traced in 2006, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2019, and 2022, not much has changed. Although the form of housing is not in the form of a house on stilts, the indigenous people of the Cireundeu Traditional Village still interpret traditional values through the application of the Pancawara concept. Thus, it is concluded that although the indigenous peoples are open to rapid development, the indigenous people of the Cireundeu Traditional Village are still consistent in maintaining traditional values. The application of these traditional values of course undergoes several adjustments with the progress of the times. However, it can still be expressed through physical and spatial arrangements both at the village scale and at the residential scale. Abstract

Abstract - Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Tangerang City Government has temporarilyclosed City Parks 1 and 2. With the closure of city parks, people are looking for alternative public open spaceson a smaller scale, namely neighborhood parks. The focus of the research will be on neighborhood parks in theBSD City, Taman Perdamaian dan Taman Kesehatan. Both objects of this study have the same position as anactive neighborhood park. Currently the condition of Taman Perdamaian has decreased in physical quality.Meanwhile, the condition of Taman Kesehatan looks deserted by visitors even though the facilities are very wellmaintained. This study wants to identify more deeply the quality of the two public open spaces in terms ofphysical elements and their activities to find out what factors influence the success of the two neighborhoodparks as public open spaces in urban settlements. This research is descriptive qualitative. Information wascollected by field observations related to physical elements and their use in the two study objects. Furthermore, questionnaires and interviews were distributed to users, to obtain perception data as a basis for identifying thequality of the two public open spaces. Based on the analysis, it is known that the Taman Perdamaian hasmanifested three qualities that contribute to the overall structure of a place, namely permeability, variety, andphysical legibility. With the realization of these three qualities, the park's success can be seen in attracting moreusers. Meanwhile, in Taman Kesehatan of the three qualities that stand out, only permeability and the moredominant manifestation of visual suitability and richness that are more focused on spatial details. This answerswhy Taman Kesehatan is underutilized, namely because of the lack of embodiment of the quality of diversity andquality of legibility. Keywords: public open space in settlements, neighborhood park, quality of public open space
