Abstract

This study purpose to know the effect of LKPD to facilitate group investigation cooperatives in improving students' science process skills in learning science material for object motion in class VIII MTs Al Miftah Modung for the 2020/2021 academic year. This research is experimental research using a Quasi-Experimental research design. The sample used was all students of class VIII as many as 20 students. The analysis technique of hypothesis testing students' science process skills using Free sample t-test with SPSS version 20.00 program. The results of hypothesis testing students' science process skills were obtained score –ttable ≤ tcount ≥ ttable (-2.262 ️ ≤ 5.071 ≥️ 2,262) then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The average percentage of implementation is 90.25% with a very good category. the average student response questionnaire is 94% with a very good category. Based on the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is an influence of LKPD to facilitate group investigation in improving science process skills for students.

Abstract

One of the important benefits of implementing meaningful learning for students is improving better learning outcomes. But in general the ability to manage meaningful learning is still relatively low. This study aimed to describe the effectiveness of contextual-based physics learning through experimental method to increase learning outcomes in thermodynamics material. The effectiveness of contextual-based physics learning through experimental method was described based on the data of increasing students’ learning outcomes. This research employed an one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design. The results showed that the contextual-based physics learning through experimental method was able to increase learning outcomes of science education students in thermodynamics material with N-gain of 0.69 in medium category increase. Statistical Wilcoxon test also informed that the learning model can significantly improve learning outcomes of science education students in thermodynamics material. Based on the increase of learning outcomes, it can be concluded the contextual-based physics learning through experimental method was effective.

Abstract

This research aims to examine junior high school students' problem-solving abilities on the topic of temperature and heat. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, involving 20 seventh-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Ngoro during the 2024/2025 academic year. The instrument used was an essay test, with problem-solving indicators based on Polya’s stages: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and reviewing the solution. The findings revealed that students’ performance across these four stages remained relatively low. Most students tended to bypass crucial steps and proceeded directly to the solution without proper planning. Only a few were able to follow the entire process coherently and accurately. These results are consistent with previous studies, highlighting that students’ problem-solving skills vary significantly depending on their ability level. Therefore, more contextual, interactive, and student-centered learning strategies are necessary to enhance critical and scientific thinking skills in problem-solving.
