Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pemahaman dan pembinaan yang cocok dilaksanakan dalam norma sopan santun melalui pembelajaran PKn pada anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data menggunaan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Obyek penelitian ini adalah kegiatan pembinaan norma sopan santun dalam pembelajaran PKn melalui teknik bercerita. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh anak-anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan yang terdiri dari kelas III-VI. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah peneliti sendiri dengan bantuan pedoman observasi dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil yang diperoleh dari analisis data yang ditemukan bahwa anak-anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan kurang memahami konsep norma sopan santun serta penerapan nilai norma sopan santun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari melalui pembelajaran PKn yang telah mereka pelajari sebelumnya.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the TPACK framework by teachers in distance learning at junior high schools in Medan. Curriculum 2013 in Indonesia been applying for 5 years. However, an evaluation of how does the teacher deliver learning subjects (pedagogy knowledge), and the implementation of subject mastery (content knowledge) and technology mastery (technology knowledge) is strongly suggested. In this research also used a qualitative descriptive method by providing a google form questionnaire to 10 junior high school teachers in the city of Medan as samples drawn with simple random sampling. The data was obtained based on the answers to questions from 10 junior high school science teachers, where 7 teachers were public school educators and the other 3 teachers were educators in private schools from different schools. The process of collecting data through a questionnaire containing questions that must be filled in by the teacher about their agreement or disagreement with the questions given in the questionnaire (Likert scale). The questions made are invincible with TPACK aspect. Based on the instruments that have been developed, researchers have obtained that the teachers already know and apply TPACK in distance learning well through the understanding and abilities possessed by the junior high school science teachers in carrying out the learning process in the classroom, especially on the topic of temperature and heat.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' understanding of integral calculus. This qualitative study investigates students' responses and understanding of integral calculus, with a particular focus on indefinite integrals. The study employed cooperative learning and animated PowerPoint (PPT) media. Data were collected from 117 students across 37 educational institutions, representing various classes and majors. The study, conducted online, comprised nine questions addressing students' attitudes, perceptions, and behaviours towards learning integral calculus. The findings reveal that while a majority of students express interest in mathematics, 26.5% have a good understanding of integral calculus, 45.3% find it average, and 18.8% struggle. For indefinite integrals, 28.2% understand them well, 45.3% find them average, and 19.7% struggle. Regarding learning methodologies, 60.7% of students express a preference for learning models integrating various media over traditional teacher-centric approaches. Additionally, 59.8% find animated PPTs helpful in understanding Integral Calculus. Additionally, 51.3% prefer a combination of traditional teaching and animated PPTs. Furthermore, the study reveals a strong inclination towards group learning models over individual learning. Notably, the majority of students correctly solved the indefinite integral problems provided, indicating a satisfactory understanding of the subject matter. Students generally exhibit a positive attitude towards learning Integral Calculus, especially when utilizing cooperative learning methods and animated PPTs. These findings underscore the importance of incorporating diverse teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and comprehension in mathematics education. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai pemahaman siswa dan mahasiswa tentang kalkulus integral. Studi penelitian kualitatif ini menyelidiki respons dan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap Kalkulus Integral, dengan fokus khusus pada topik integral tak tentu, dengan menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif dan media PowerPoint animasi (PPT). Sebanyak 117 siswa dan mahasiswa dari 37 lembaga pendidikan di berbagai kelas dan jurusan berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner online yang terdiri dari sembilan pertanyaan, yang membahas sikap, persepsi, dan perilaku mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran Kalkulus Integral. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa (59,8%) menunjukkan minat dalam matematika. Namun, sementara 26,5% mengklaim pemahaman yang baik tentang kalkulus integral, 45,3% menganggapnya hanya biasa, dan 18,8% kesulitan memahami konsep tersebut dengan baik. Demikian pula, 28,2% memahami integral tak tentu dengan baik, sementara 45,3% menganggapnya biasa, dan 19,7% mengalami kesulitan dalam pemahaman. Mengenai metodologi pembelajaran, 60,7% mahasiswa menyatakan preferensi terhadap model pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan berbagai media dibanding pendekatan tradisional yang berpusat pada guru. Selain itu, 59,8% menganggap PPT animasi bermanfaat dalam memahami Kalkulus Integral. Namun, 51,3% lebih memilih kombinasi pengajaran tradisional dan PPT animasi. Selain itu, penelitian ini mengungkap kecenderungan kuat terhadap model pembelajaran kelompok (70,1%) dibanding pembelajaran individual (13,7%). Secara mencolok, mayoritas mahasiswa (74,4%) berhasil menyelesaikan masalah integral tak tentu dengan benar, menunjukkan pemahaman materi yang memuaskan. Secara umum, mahasiswa menunjukkan sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran Kalkulus Integral, terutama saat menggunakan metode pembelajaran kooperatif dan PPT animasi. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya menggabungkan beragam strategi pengajaran untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman mahasiswa dalam pendidikan matematika.

Abstract

This research addresses the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic to education, particularly the limitations of online learning and the subsequent implementation of limited face-to-face learning. Recognizing the significant impact of these challenges on both teachers and students, the study aims to explore factors influencing the efficiency of classroom management during limited face-to-face learning. Focusing on 8th-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan, the research utilizes a quantitative approach, employing a Likert scale questionnaire distributed to 15 students via Google Form. The key findings reveal a deficiency in creating a conducive learning climate (32% - Not good), with challenges stemming from limited physical interaction, technological barriers, and difficulties in maintaining student engagement. However, organizing the study room received positive responses (67.5% - Good), indicating effective physical layout and orderliness contributing to a conducive learning atmosphere. On the other hand, managing the interaction of teaching and learning activities scored lower (30% - Not good), highlighting challenges related to varied teaching methods, learning media, and active student participation. In conclusion, the research underscores the necessity for improvements in the classroom management process within the limited face-to-face learning context. The findings provide valuable insights for enhancing teaching strategies, fostering a more conducive learning environment, and ultimately contributing to the successful attainment of learning objectives within the constraints of limited face-to-face interactions. The study's implications extend to educators, researchers, and policymakers seeking to optimize the learning experience in the unique circumstances brought about by the pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract The research was conducted on students’ low scientific literacy skills in Indonesia based on PISA, PUSMENDIK data and the lack of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-based teaching materials that measure students’ scientific literacy. Researcher develop teaching material in the form of interactive E-book that can be used on all devices with feasible based on scientific literacy skills on human digestive system material. The research method used is research and development (RD) with the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE) from Branch. Subjects in this study was 4 experts (1 expert in media, learning design, material, and linguist). The instruments used are tests that experts and non-tests have validated. Test instruments assessment was given to 4 experts (1 expert in media, learning design, material, and linguist). The results showed that resulting validation from a media expert with x̄ = 98.3%, a material expert with x̄ = 83.3%, a learning design expert with x̄ = 95.3%, and a linguist expert with x̄ = 85%, and practically x̄ = 97, then an STEM-based E-book was declared feasible, and practically.

Abstract

In the classroom, students have several barriers that affect learning outcomes and learning experiences. Generally, the obstacles that occur are the misconceptions experienced by students. Teachers' error causes many students to have misconceptions about the concept and lack practice questions related to the idea. This research was conducted to see and describe the students' misconceptions about understanding acids, bases and salts. This descriptive research uses test questions about acids, bases and salts and uses the CRI method to analyze data. The results show that students who lack understanding are 13.83%, good understanding 18.68%, and students with misconceptions 67.49%.

Abstract

This study underscores the significance of E-books centered on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for junior high school students, highlighting the value of interactive and multidirectional learning resources to foster sustainability awareness. The research objectives are to (1) find out the necessity of ESD-based E-books for enhancing sustainability awareness among students, 2) to prove the advantages and disadvantages of ESD-based learning compared to traditional learning, and (3) compare ESD-based learning with traditional methods. Using interviews, and literature study, the study finds traditional printed science textbooks insufficient in engaging students, often reducing their enthusiasm for learning. Interviews reveal that conventional textbooks are the primary learning medium, but students find them uninspiring. E-books, however, show promise in boosting student engagement through features like accessibility, searchability, and interactivity. Challenges exist in integrating ESD into the curriculum, primarily due to educators' limited understanding of sustainability concepts. Nonetheless, ESD-based E-books are seen as effective tools for developing a sustainable culture and enhancing students' awareness of sustainability issues. The literature study indicates a clear need for ESD-based E-books for students, emphasizing their role in preparing the next generation for sustainable development. The study recommends rigorous testing and comparative analysis of STEM-ESD E-books versus traditional resources to evaluate their effectiveness in raising sustainability awareness among junior high school students. The ultimate aim is to promote self-directed learning and greater awareness of sustainability.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the understanding and guidance that is suitable to be implemented in the norms of courtesy through Civics learning in Sunday school children at GBI Sukma Medan. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative method, data collection techniques using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The object of this research is the activity of fostering norms of courtesy in Civics learning through storytelling techniques. The study population was all children of the Sunday school at GBI Sukma Medan, which consisted of class III-VI. The data collection instrument is the researcher himself with the help of observation guidelines and interview guidelines. The results obtained from the data analysis found that Sunday school children at GBI Sukma Medan did not understand the concept of the norms of courtesy and the application of the norm values of courtesy in daily life through Civics learning that they had previously learned. ------------- AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman dan pembinaan yang cocok dilaksanakan dalam norma sopan santun melalui pembelajaran PPKn pada setiap anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah kegiatan pembinaan terhadap norma sopan santun dalam pembelajaran PPKn dengan teknik bercerita. Adapun populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh anak-anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan yang dimana terdiri dari kelas III-VI. Instrumen dalam pengumpulan data dengan cara peneliti sendiri dengan bantuan pedoman observasi serta pedoman wawancara. Adapun hasil yang diperoleh dari analisis data yang ditemukan, menyatakan bahwa anak-anak sekolah minggu GBI Sukma Medan kurang memahami mengenai konsep norma sopan santun serta dalam penerapan nilai norma sopan santun dalam kehidupan sehari-hari melalui pembelajaran PPKn yang telah mereka pelajari sebelumnya.

Abstract

This study examines how problem-solving patterns in science among 9th-grade students correlate with different personality types based on Keirsey's classification: Idealist, Artisan, Guardian, and Rational. It employs the Investigation of Lived Experience methodology in Cognitive Psychology to delve into the internal experiences of 36 students from SMP Negeri 5 Bandung. The research explores gender distribution, school representation, and the prevalence of each personality type among the participants. Data collection methods include adapted questionnaires, written tests on earth and space science concepts, and follow-up interviews. These instruments are analyzed using the fixed comparison method to identify and understand distinct problem-solving tendencies associated with each personality type. Specifically, Idealists are found to prioritize understanding, Artisans employ intuitive-analogical approaches, Guardians rely on intuitive hypotheses, and rationalists utilize analogical reasoning. Overall, this study provides detailed insights into how personality types influence problem-solving strategies in science education. It suggests implications for personalized educational approaches tailored to individual student preferences and tendencies, aiming to enhance learning outcomes in 9th-grade science classrooms.

Abstract

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an integral part of achieving the three pillars of human development: social development, economic growth, and environmental preservation. ESD is a global initiative that encompasses broader issues than those addressed solely by the Indonesian Government a collective responsibility to foster ESD as a fundamental value for current and future generations. This study employed a descriptive research method, using a sustainability awareness questionnaire adapted from Hassan et al. The study aimed to comprehensively assess sustainability awareness among 53 ninth-grade students at SMPN 17 Medan. The primary objective was to outline and categorize the profile of sustainability awareness, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and practical dimensions, while also examining gender differences. Data were systematically analyzed using a Likert scale and validated instruments, aligned with sustainability awareness indicators. The results indicated a high level of sustainability awareness, with emotional awarenessat 89.6%, followed by behavioral and attitude awareness at 82.1%. However, practical awareness was at 66.4%, indicating a potential area for improvement. Female students demonstrated higher awareness (85.7%) compared to male students (73.0%). These findings highlight the need for targeted educational interventions to enhance practical sustainability awareness and ensure equitable participation among all students.
