Abstract

Kehadiran jajanan dengan warna yang menarik dan cita rasa yang membangkitkan selera membuat para siswa lebih memilih jajan di sekolah dibandingkan membawa bekal dari rumah. Sedangkan jajanan dengan warna yang mencolok dan rasa yang lezat berpotensi mengandung zat aditif yang memiliki dampak buruk bagi kesehatan, apalagi jika dikonsumsi secara berlebihan. Oleh karena itu, edukasi tentang zat aditif sangat penting untuk dilakukan agar para siswa lebih selektif saat membeli jajanan. Kegiatan edukasi ini dilaksanakan kepada siswa SMK se-Kabupaten Bantaeng, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan dengan metode ceramah dan diskusi menggunakan media powerpoint dengan memasukkan berbagai contoh jajanan yang biasa mereka temukan sehari-hari. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa secara umum siswa belum mengetahui pengertian, jenis dan dampak negatif zat aditif yang sering ditambahkan pada jajanan. Para siswa cenderung membeli makanan hanya berdasarkan warna yang menarik dan rasa yang nikmat tanpa memikirkan dampak buruk dari jajanan tersebut. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini adalah siswa mampu memahami dan mengidentifikasi zat aditif apa yang digunakan pada jajanan yang biasa mereka konsumsi berdasarkan materi yang telah dipaparkan sebelumnya. Selain itu, para siswa telah sadar bahwa kebiasaan membawa bekal dari rumah sangat baik untuk menjaga kesehatan.

Abstract

Salah satu hal penting yang selalu dibutuhkan adalah kebutuhan air minum yang dapat diperoleh di depot air minum. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan informasi dan edukasi kepada pengusaha air minum isi ulang dan masyarakat tentang kualitas air minum yang layak dan tepat untuk dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat berdasarka Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI No.:492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010. Metode yang digunakan adalah Service Learning dengan memberikan materi sosialisasi secara langsung. Hasil pengabdian memperlihatkan berjamurnya usaha depot air minum isi ulang di Kabupaten Bantaeng, maka kualitas air minum isi ulang sulit dikontrol dan mengakibatkan masyarakat sebagai konsumen tidak mendapatkan jaminan atas air minum yang layak konsumsi. Oleh karena itu, implikasinya sangat penting dalam meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat agar dapat memilih depot air minum isi ulang yang sesuai standar kesehatan untuk dikonsumsi sehari-hari.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the total phenolic content of extracts of water, methanol, and ethyl acetate of Siamese weed leaves and to test their bioactivity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This research includes testing of active compound groups and determination of total phenolic and bioactivity tests. The total phenolic content was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the analysis showed that the extracts of water, methanol, and ethyl acetate were 54.0647; 44.9289; and 9.2005 mg GAE/g extract. The results of the bioactivity test of aqueous extracts were greater than that of methanol and ethyl acetate extracts where the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of aqueous extracts against E. coli bacteria was at a concentration of 0.1%, while against S. aureus bacteria the bioactivity of methanol extracts was greater than that of aqueous extracts and ethyl acetate concentrations. minimum inhibitory (MIC) 0.5%. Abstract

The 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2 catalyst was synthesized from the ZrO2 precursor with 0.7 M H2SO4 through the wet impregnation method, then examined the effect of calcination temperature (400 and 500 oC) on the catalyst through characterization using XRD, FT-IR, SEM-EDX, and acidity test using ammonia as the adsorbate base. The 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-400 catalyst had two types of crystalline phases namely monoclinic and a small peak of metastable tetragonal, while the crystalline phase of 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-500 was only monoclinic. The results of FT-IR analysis showed that the four typical bands of sulfate ions that were perfectly coordinated with zirconium cations were found both at 400 and 500 oC calcination temperatures with almost the same band intensity. However, the acidity test results showed that the 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-400 catalyst had a total acidity that was slightly greater than 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-500 which was 5.74 and 5.59 mmol g-1 respectively. The results of SEM-EDX analysis also showed that the surface of the 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-400 catalyst was also brighter than 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-500 which indicated that more sulfate ions were impregnated on the surface of zirconia with the SO3 species mass was 5.75% while the SO3 species mass of 0.7 M SO4/ZrO2-500 was only 4.62%.

Abstract

Inovasi dalam meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat dan sosialisasi pencegahan Covid-19 sangat diperlukan, khususnya ekosistem pasar tradisional. Pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengembangan ekonomi entitas pasar tradisional sekaligus melakukan sosialisasi pemutusan mata rantai penyebaran virus korona. Lokasi pengabdian berada di Pasar Pakalu, Kabupaten Maros. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan metode Participation Action Research (PAR) dengan bekerjasama dengan toko kopi Abdul Kadir sebagai mitra. Pengabdian yang berlangsung selama satu bulan ini membuahkan beberapa hasil, yaitu antusiasme dan kesadaran pengunjung pasar untuk menggunakan masker dan mencuci tangan meningkat seiring dengan hadirnya flyer dan banner informasi pencegahan Covid-19 di toko mitra, dimana pengunjung pasar mendengarkan sosialisasi yang diberikan. Selanjutnya, pemasukan hasil penjualan kopi mitra juga meningkat sebesar 30%, dimana sebelumnya mitra mengeluhkan penurunan pemasukan sejak masa pandemi. Hasil evaluasi memperlihatkan bahwa promosi langsung tim pengabdi bersama mitra meningkatkan daya tarik toko mitra yang berbeda dengan pedagang lain, sehingga pengunjung yang awalnya tidak berniat membeli kopi, berubah pikiran dan membeli dagangan mitra. Secara garis besar, pengabdian ini telah berhasil meningkatkan ekonomi pedagang sekaligus mengedukasi warga lokal pasar tradisional tentang cara mencegah penularan Covid-19.

Abstract

Biodiesel is one of the alternative fuels to replace diesel fuel derived from petroleum. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of LGCPO (low-grade crude palm oil) as biodiesel. Biodiesel preparation is carried out by esterification of 7% H2SO4 catalyst and methanol 1:30 (w/w) at 60 oC for 2 hours. Transesterification was carried out at 60 oC for 1 hour with 1.5% KOH catalyst (w/w) and 35% methanol (w/w). Before synthesizing, the water content obtained was 0.40% and the ALB was 7.46%. Furthermore, specification testing was carried out on biodiesel based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 7182-2015 that has been set, which shows an acid number of 0.4 mg NaOH/gg, density of 860.4 kg/mm3 (simplo) and 866.1 kg/m3 (duplo), and a kinematic viscosity of 2.93 mm2/s at 40 oC.Characterization was carried out by FTIR spectrophotometer analysis, which showed the presence of ester functional groups that are characteristic of synthesized biodiesel: the presence of C-O groups from esters at wavenumbers 1244.13 cm1 and 1170.83 cm1, and the presence of C=O groups from esters at wavenumbers 1743.71 cm1. In addition, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis was also carried out, which showed the presence of six methyl ester (biodiesel) compounds, namely methyl myristate, methyl palmitate, methyl stearate, methyl oleate, methyl linoleate, and methyl arachidate.

Abstract

Almost all traditional seaweed farmers in Bulukumba Regency only sell seaweed in raw condition to collectors with uncertain market prices. In order to develop the quality of community life, there is a need for innovation in managing coastal assets, such as seaweed. This community service (PkM) uses the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method with partners, namely the Jaya Fishermen Joint Business Group. The method of data collection was to conduct training (workshop) to seaweed farmers focusing on how to process and package seaweed into products of economic value, such as seaweed crackers / chips, then conduct in-depth interviews. The results showed that 83% of respondents were enthusiastic about the prospect of processing and packaging seaweed into crackers and chips. They also felt that the existence of processed seaweed that is attractively packaged will provide more benefits and regional attractiveness, especially Bulukumba Regency. The service team recommends that the trademark and logo of the partner as a pioneer of processing and packaging seaweed into crackers / seaweed chips with economic value be recorded legally. This can be in the form of registering trademark rights to the local government, obtaining a halal label, and registering the nutritional index to the local health and trade office by obtaining a P-IRT number.

Abstract

Sabun merupakan produk yang wajib ada di rumah yang berpotensi untuk dikembangkan guna kenyamanan konsumen. Pembuatan sabun cuci cair menggunakan surfaktan sebagai bahan utama dengan berbagai bahan tambahan berguna meningkatkan kinerjanya. Dalam penelitian ini enam formulasi dibuat untuk menguji kinerja sabun cair cuci piring dengan menambahkan gliserin pada berbagai konsentrasi dengan bahan utama SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate) menggunakan metode dingin. Dengan memasukkan gliserin, SLES, dan bahan ramah lingkungan lainnya dalam formulasi sabun, dimungkinkan untuk menciptakan sabun berkualitas tinggi yang tidak hanya membersihkan secara efektif tetapi juga memberikan nutrisi dan hidrasi pada kulit, memenuhi permintaan yang terus meningkat akan produk yang berkelanjutan dan ramah kulit di industri kosmetik. Keenam variasi yang dihasilkan diukur sifat organoleptik fisik dan kimianya. Kinerja deterjen terbaik dalam hal kelembaban dan tinggi busa ditunjukkan pada formulasi F3 dengan bau yang tidak menyengat berwarna transparan, nilai FFA sebesar 0,09+0,00 dan pH 5,77+0,01 dengan kecenderungan viskositas dan kelembaban yang proporsional satu sama lain dengan campuran gliserin seiring dengan bertambahnya gliserin pada batas tertentu. Secara umum kinerja sabun yang dibuat pada enam formulasi untuk semua parameter tidak terpengaruh dengan penambahan gliserin. Dimana warna  sabun yang dihasilkan transparan, bau yang agak menyengat, kesat, pH diantara 5,85 – 5,91 dan Free Fatty Acid (FFA) sebesar 0.09 %.

Abstract

Cancer is a group of deadly diseases that attack human organs with an increasing number of cases and an increasing number of deaths from year to year. Free radicals as unstable molecules are one of the triggers for the emergence of cancer. Katang-katang or I. pes-caprae L. is a plant that could be found on almost all tropical coasts. So it has the potential to be developed as herbal medicine. This study used Flowers of I. pes-caprae L. as the research sample. This study aimed to identify the anticancer and antioxidant potential of the flower extract of I. pes-caprae L extracted with water as a solvent. This research included the phytochemical test of secondary metabolites, identification of anticancer potential based on the toxicity test using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT), and the antioxidant activity test using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that the flower extract of I. pes-caprae L. from water solvent contained active compounds including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids. The extract also has the potential as an anticancer with an LC50 value of 170.8441 ppm and strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 71.7895 ppm.

Abstract

Chitosan-PVA composite with the addition of binahong extract is a bioplastic that is being developed aims to make eco-friendly product and contain antibacterial agents. This bioplastic is useful as packaging to maintain the freshness quality of food. The purpose of this research is to study and develop smart packaging with the addition of binahong leaf extract as an antibacterial agent. The manufacture of plastic in this study was carried out by varying the addition of binahong leaf extract ranging from 60-100%. The characteristics of the chitosan-PVA plastic were tested through FTIR, water uptake, and antibacterial tests. Chitosan-PVA plastic with the addition of 100% concentration of binahong extract had a good bacterial inhibition of 12 mm. The resulting chitosan-PVA plastic with binahong extract showed the presence of chemical bonds between the chitosan, PVA and flavonoid groups. The bioplastics produced have quite a large water uptake compared to non-biodegradable commercial packaging, reaching 491.52% with the addition of 90% binahong extract with the best antibacterial capabilities in the packaging with the addition of 100% binahong extract.
