Although the rate of population growth has slowed in recent decades, the large population still influences various development sectors, including education, health, and employment. East Banjarmasin District, migration, birth and death rates are the main factors causing high population growth. Rapid population growth in large cities requires planning and management to ensure urban sustainability. This research aims to determine the factors that influence population growth in East Banjarmasin District using a statistical descriptive approach with multiple linear regression analysis methods using secondary data on population growth in East Banjarmasin District from 2018 to 2022. The research method used in the research namely statistics and document study. This research uses secondary data, obtained through related agencies such as the Banjarmasin City Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Banjarmasin City Population Service, and Banjarmasin City Health Service so there is no population and sample. Data processing techniques in this research were carried out using data editing, data transformation (coding), data tabulation, multiple linear regression, T test, and F test. Research results The research results show that the crude birth rate, crude death rate and incoming migration has a strong influence on population growth in East Banjarmasin District. Partially, the influence of the crude birth rate is the most significant main factor influencing population growth in East Banjarmasin DistrictKeywords: Birth Rate, Death Rate, Migration AbstrakMasalah utama kependudukan di Indonesia adalah pertumbuhan penduduk yang cepat. Abstract

Every day waste production is increasing along with the increase in the number of products and people's consumption patterns. What must be done to overcome the increase in waste volume is to reduce the volume of waste from the source through waste management from the community itself. The problem in community participation regarding waste management using the 3R method in Mampari Village, Balangan Regency is what form of community participation in waste management and the level of participation in community waste management. Research on waste reduction using the 3R method in Mampari Village aims to: (1) describe the forms of community participation in Mampari Village. (2) describe the level of participation of the Mampari Village community, data collection includes interviews, observation and documentation, while data analysis uses quantitative descriptive techniques. Based on the research results, one form of community participation in efforts to reduce waste using the 3R method is by providing contributions in the form of energy, goods and money as well as community service and participating in waste management. Apart from that, they also hold community meetings once a month, which are attended by several residents. The level of community participation that occurs in Mampari Village according to the category is low, the only community members who participate are village mobilizers consisting of 10-15 people so that the implementation of waste management is very lacking and still not optimal

Abstract

Forest and land fires affected Indonesia from January to August 2023, burning a total of 267,935.59 hectares across 38 provinces. In South Kalimantan Province, the fires ranked 4th in severity, with a total of 24,588 hectares burned. The El Niño phenomenon in 2023 contributed to the occurrence of these forest and land fires, while human activities, such as land clearing, also played a role. In South Kalimantan Province, forest and land fires occurred in 13 districts/cities, including Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, Banjar, Tapin, South Hulu Sungai, Central Hulu Sungai, North Hulu Sungai, Balangan, Tabalong, Barito Kuala, Tanah Laut, Tanah Bumbu, and Kotabaru. The province has four districts/cities classified as high-risk areas for forest and land fires: Banjarbaru City, Tanah Laut Regency, Banjar Regency, and Barito Kuala Regency. A particularly vital area in this region is Syamsudin Noor Airport, located in Syamsudin Noor Subdistrict, Landasan Ulin District. According to the South Kalimantan BPBD Operations Control Center, the highest number of forest fire incidents occurred in Banjarbaru City. The total burned area reached 1,015.03 hectares between March and November 2023, with incidents recorded as follows Landasan Ulin District 206 incidents (452.53 hectares), Liang Anggang District: 98 incidents (238.02 hectares), Cempaka District: 115 incidents (278.69 hectares), North Banjarbaru District: 17 incidents (29.32 hectares), South Banjarbaru District: 22 incidents (16.48 hectares). The objective of this research is to analyze the level of public participation in forest and land fire prevention in Landasan Ulin District. The study examines factors such as controlled burning practices, removal of flammable materials, and timing of land clearing activities. This study employs a descriptive quantitative method, using percentage calculations and average questionnaire values to process and interpret the collected data. The findings indicate that public participation in forest and land fire prevention in Landasan Ulin District falls into the "Moderate" category, suggesting a sufficient level of involvement in fire prevention efforts.

Abstract

Indonesia's coastal areas, where land and sea meet, are rich in natural resources that provide economic benefits such as fisheries and tourism, and support ecosystem balance. Community dependence on these resources can lead to environmental damage if not appropriately managed. This article analyzes the behavior of the Tambakrejo community at CMC Tiga Warna Beach in terms of environmental preservation through tourism and conservation. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method, incorporating interviews and observations. Results show significant community impacts on ecosystems, such as waste pollution and land clearing, threatening biodiversity. Ecotourism at CMC Tiga Warna Beach encourages active community roles in conservation, including visitor limits and mangrove planting. The interaction between community behavior, ecosystems, and local culture plays a role in environmental preservation. Community participation and local policies have been shown to support coastal sustainability. This emphasizes the need for community-based approaches to minimize negative impacts and enhance the benefits of ecotourism.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the availability of public green open spaces (GOS) in North Tapin District and to calculate the required GOS based on current population size, land area, and projected demographic growth up to the year 2044. Employing a quantitative descriptive methodology, the research utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) spatial analysis complemented by field observations and ground truthing to ensure data accuracy. The study area includes all public green open spaces within the district boundaries. Results reveal that the total public GOS area is approximately 35.82 hectares, representing 5.48% of the district’s total land area—substantially below the minimum regulatory standard of 20%. Population projections indicate a future GOS demand of 72.16 hectares by 2044, highlighting a significant shortfall in current provision. These findings demonstrate that North Tapin District’s existing green open spaces are insufficient to meet both present and anticipated needs, underscoring the urgent requirement for strategic urban planning interventions to expand and optimize green space allocation.

Abstract

SMP Negeri 10 Banjarmasin has seen a growing demand for the implementation of the Adiwiyata program, which is aimed at achieving environmental preservation through harmony, beauty, and comfort. Educators faced a challenge in raising students' awareness about environmental care, but a research study was conducted to address this through eco-brick activities. The study involved a closed questionnaire and the average score calculation resulted in 51.58, indicating that waste management through the Eco-brick program has a positive impact on reducing, reusing, and recycling attitudes among students. The results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the Eco-brick program in increasing students' awareness and understanding of the importance of maintaining environmental sustainability. It is evident that the Adiwiyata program is crucial for the future of our planet, and initiatives like eco-brick activities can certainly contribute to achieving this goal.
