Abstract

In line with the objectives of education in Indonesia, which seek Knowledge, among others, to form noble morals, there are currently immoral acts committed by students both during education and after graduation. This happens since the education process does not emphasize the aspects of tazkiyah and ta'lim, namely the purification of goodness when seeking Knowledge. Thus, this study aims to determine the relationship between Tazkiyah and Ta'lim for the effectiveness of seeking Knowledge. The researcher employed a descriptive method in explaining the interpretation of the mufassir, then analyzed it to explain the context of the verse. It also used a study of taqdim and takhir to explain the change in the context of the verse on the words al-Tazkiyah and at-Ta'lim. The researcher concluded that tazkiyah is prioritized over Salim because it aligns with the purpose of the Prophet's sending to cleanse or remove humanity from error. The prioritization of tazkiyah over ta'lim shows that before an individual receives Knowledge, the individual should purify by maintaining good intentions and actions before receiving Knowledge since Tazkiyah Nafs can give peace of mind so that it will make it easier to receive Knowledge. Therefore, it is appropriate for students of knowledge to purify their intentions and actions before acquiring knowledge.

Abstract

Too often, eco-theological readings of Qur’anic water verses outrun the text—because structural claims are made without a disciplined, transparent, and auditable method. This article examines whether Semitic Rhetorical Analysis (SRA) can serve as an audit-able tool for reading Qur’anic water passages in a way that disciplines ecological inference. Focusing on Q 23:18–19 and Q 25:48–49, it asks how rhetorical segmentation and parallelism clarify the internal logic of the verses beyond atomistic citation. Using qualitative library-based research, the study applies Meynet’s SRA procedure (segmenting the text, identifying correspondences, and mapping inter-unit relations) and then compares the resulting structure with thematic Qur’anic-ecological readings on water, balance (mīzān), and stewardship (khalīfah). The analysis shows that SRA makes visible a coherent argumentative sequence—sending down water, settling it, and directing its benefits—that frames water as an entrusted measure rather than a merely descriptive sign. It also constrains interpretive overreach by requiring each ecological claim to be traceable to a demonstrable textual relation, while still supporting an ethic of restraint and care. Overall, the article indicates that rhetorical-structural analysis can strengthen eco-tafsīr by providing a replicable pathway from textual structure to ethical inference.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the conceptualization of reading in the Qur’an, which is often reduced to mere technical literacy, while the sacred text offers a holistic-integrative paradigm. Departing from the problem of fragmentation in previous studies that are partial and have not touched the semantic integrity of key lexical networks (qara’a, tala, darasa, etc.), this research addresses the urgency of theoretical-practical needs to formulate a coherent Qur’anic epistemology of reading as a foundation for Islamic philosophy of science and education. Using a rigorous thematic ( maudhu’i ) tafsir method, an exhaustive thematic exploration of all related verses, semantic-contextual analysis, and synthesis of a conceptual model were conducted. The novelty of the research lies in three aspects: the application of rigorous maudhu’i procedures for complex themes, comparative-interconnective semantic analysis between lexicons, and the construction of a theory in the form of a Multilayered Epistemology of Qur’anic Reading Model (Technical-Procedural, Performative-Reflective, and Contemplative-Constructive Layers). The results indicate that reading in the Qur’an is an active, hierarchical epistemology with dual objects ( qauliyah and kauniyah verses), an ideal subject ( ulul albab ), and an integrative-dialogical methodology, aiming to produce beneficial knowledge ( ‘ilm nāfi’ ) and universal benefit ( rahmatan lil ‘ālamīn ). This model serves as an operational framework for revitalizing an integrated Islamic knowledge paradigm.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concept of moral education in Tafsir Madrasi by Oemar Bakry, focusing on Surah al-Baqarah verses 1-63 and 142-249. This study aims to uncover the moral values articulated by Bakry in the Qur'an and their relevance to the contemporary Islamic education paradigm. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with a thematic interpretation (maudu'i) approach, supported by an analysis of Islamic education theory. The findings indicate that Oemar Bakry views moral education as a holistic personality formation process that instills the values of faith (iman), trust (amanah), patience (ṣabr), justice ('adl), and piety (taqwa). These values serve as a conceptual foundation for curriculum design, humanistic teaching methods, and the development of moral leadership in modern education. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of an integrative Islamic education paradigm that combines spiritual, rational, and social dimensions, consistent with contemporary value-based education theory. Therefore, the Madrasi Interpretation is not just a classical Indonesian interpretation, but also a conceptual reference for the development of Islamic education that is value-oriented and civilized.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the talaqi method in Qur’anic memorization (tahfidz) learning and the strengthening of public speaking skills among third to fifth grade students at MIN 3 Ponorogo. Islamic elementary education plays a crucial role in shaping students’ religious character and communication abilities. Therefore, integrating the talaqi method with simple public speaking training provides a balanced approach that supports both spiritual development and social competence in students. This research employs a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation conducted during the community service program of KKN Tematik 38 Group 13 from the University of Darussalam Gontor. The findings indicate that the talaqi method improves students’ accuracy in Qur’anic recitation and memorization, while public speaking activities enhance their confidence and communication skills. The collaboration between university students and the madrasah also contributes to creating a more interactive and participatory learning environment.

Abstract

Purpose This study aimed to analyze the concept of Qur’anic dhikr in Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzi’s Tafsir Mafātīḥ al-Ghayb and to examine its relevance as a complementary approach to addressing the phenomenon of anxiety among Generation Alpha.                       Method This qualitative, literature-based study used thematic-critical analysis. Primary data from al-Rāzī's dhikr verse interpretations was evaluated using reduction, categorization, and interpretation stages. This study combined classical exegesis with modern psychology ideas including emotion management, cognitive reappraisal, and neurophysiological responses. Triangulation and a review of the current literature guaranteed data authenticity. Results/findings The study revealed Al-Rāzi believed that dhikr goes beyond linguistic engagement, as evidenced by research findings. According to research, al-Rāzī defines dhikr as a spiritual awareness process that impacts psychological stability, not just a linguistic exercise. Dhikr has cognitive, emotional, and neurophysiological elements. Generation Alpha anxiety is affected by digital exposure, social interaction, and cognitive development. Dhikr may complement modern psychology as a spiritual coping method.            Conclusion                   Qur’anic dhikr can serve as an approach that integrates Islamic spirituality and modern psychology in addressing the anxiety of Generation Alpha. However, dhikr functions as a complementary therapy, not a substitute for clinical interventions. Further research is needed to determine its mental health benefits in the digital age.

Abstract

Research on scientific signs can provide a deeper understanding of the scientific content of the Quran, but the lack of integration between Quranic scholarly studies and modern scientific studies has led to a gap in the understanding of Muslims regarding the Quran. Based on this issue, the researcher aims to uncover the scientific signs behind Surah Ash-Shams verses 1-5, such as the sun, moon, day, night, and the sky. This research refers to the commentary of Zaghloul An-Najjar due to his expertise in the field of earth sciences, making the study more effective in revealing the truth of the Quran. The research method used is qualitative with a scientific-themed maudhui commentary approach. This study is a literature review using descriptive analysis methods. The results obtained from this research are: Firstly, the immense benefits and materials of sunlight cannot be replaced by human-made alternatives. Secondly, the natural phenomena called solar and lunar eclipses. Thirdly, sunlight influences the production of serotonin hormone during the day, while the increasing darkness of the night helps the production of melatonin hormone. Fourthly, behind the visible sunlight, there is a daytime layer surrounding the earth above the Earth's atmospheric layer, allowing solar energy to reach the Earth. Finally, the vastness of the sky in outer space is discussed, leading to various galaxies and clusters of galaxies.

Abstract

Islam is a religion that glorifies women, by looking the importance of women's role in life. Islam is also a universal religion so that it does not only regulate the relationship of a servant with his God but also with fellow human beings. The command to wear the hijab is not limited to the obedience of a servant, but by wearing the hijab, she protects herself and those around her from the bad things that might happen. By wearing the hijab, someone is indirectly encouraged to pay attention to and improve their behavior, because the hijab serves as their identity as a Muslim woman and is a form of obedience to Allah's commands, so that their behavior will be noticed by others, maybe even emulated. However, there is a problem where many Muslim women who already wear the hijab do not understand the meaning, the purpose and the wisdom behind the mandatory on the hijab so that the hijab is worn only because it is requirement, or even a trend. Then those who reject the hijab use the excuse that what is more important is improving morals, not covering the aurat with the hijab. So this study aims to provide an explanation of the hijab, its meaning, its purpose and its wisdom behind its stipulations, as well as provide solutions so that Muslim women can slowly improve themselves after committing to wearing the hijab. The method used in this study is qualitative, with a descriptive-analytical presentation. After studying the verses that make it mandatory to wear the hijab, it can be seen that the hijab has a meaning “to cover”, and aims to protect Muslim women from disturbances, and encourage Muslim women to maintain their behavior because hijab is also an Islamic identity and the obedience of a Muslim woman. So there should be no conflict between the noble character and obedience to cover the aurat.

Abstract

In contrast to the previous centuries of the XX century, the century of young people with the spirit of coming out of stagnant thinking has indirectly stimulated the attention of scholars in studying interpretations and compiling works of interpretation with various methods, patterns and styles. Tafsir al-Azhar is one of the largest interpretations compiled by Hamka, Hajj Muhammad Karim Amrullah. This article attempts to critically examine whether there is an influence of time and place in the preparation of the Tafsir al-Azhar. For this reason, historical methods and critical analysis will be used to show the figure of Hamka and his interaction with the socio-culture of the Minang people in particular and Indonesia in general. At the same time, it is used to analyze the Tafsir al-Azhar with regard to the influence of the time and place in the work. The result is that Hamka in explaining the verses of the Qur'an sometimes takes wisdom from the customs of a society that signify the place and explain also from the period of development of political turmoil after Indonesian independence and the renewal of the thoughts of Islamic figures that signify time, furthermore, the place and time have exerted influence in compiling the Indonesian interpretation work "Tafsir al-Azhar."
