Abstract

The potential of reef limestone in Gorontalo Province is very large. The proof is in two research stations in Kelurhan Buli'ide and Tanjung Kramat Village. Research on the potential of reef limestone using two methods of analysis petrology and geochemistry of XRF. Based on the results of the research both stations have the name of the rock and the composition of the chemical compounds is different. The results of the study differ from previous studies. Differences are found in the composition of CaO compounds higher than 80%. The chemical composition of compounds in two research stations has the potential to be developed into industrial material. Use of reef limestone can be used as building stones, road stabilizers, agricultural lime, ceramic materials, water purification and the process of deposition of non-ferrous metal ores.

Abstract

Weathering is a natural process due to the work of exogenous forces both physically and chemically which results in the breakdown of rocks and constituent minerals into loose materials. Weathering can cause compact and resistant granite to move easily, causing rock fall in the Leato area, Gorontalo City. This study aims to assess the level of weathering of granite based on X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope Analysis (SEM) analysis. The research objectives will be achieved using two methods consisting of field surveys and laboratory analysis in the form of XRD and SEM analysis. Based on the results and discussion that granite rocks have undergone weathering. Evidence of weathering is clearly shown in SEM photos, namely weathering occurs at the edges of granite rocks.

Abstract

The potential of limestone in Gorontalo City is not only the use of industrial minerals but also its availability as a reservoir of groundwater reservoirs. The availability of groundwater is the main focus in preserving the environment. For this reason, this research focuses on the quality of limestone reservoirs by analyzing limestone porosity. The purpose of this study was to determine the average porosity percentage, porosity type and porosity quality both semi-quantitative and qualitative. In order to achieve these objectives, two methods are used namely the field survey method and petrographic analysis. The results showed the average percentage of porosity quality of limestone as a reservoir of groundwater in the excellent category with the type of porosity is fracturing and growing (vugular).

Abstract

Reservoir rocks are hollow rocks below the surface that are capable of storing and flowing groundwater that can be utilized by the community. The limestone facies is a good reservoir rock. The characteristics of the limestone facies in the Ombulo Region, Gorontalo Regency, which reach 3.42 km2, are very interesting to study. This study aims to analyze the porosity value of each limestone facies in the study area. The research method used consisted of field geological surveys and petrographic laboratory analysis. The results showed that the study area consisted of four limestone facies namely floatstone facies, mudstone facies, wackestone facies, and rudstone facies. The potential of limestone in the Ombulo area as reservoir rock is in the poor to very good category.

Abstract

The research location is located in Deme 1 Village, East Sumalata District, North Gorontalo Regency. The rock outcrops studied are sandstones which are part of the Dolokapa Formation which is spread in the northern part of the Tilamuta Sheet. This study aims to analyze the tectonic setting of the origin of the sandstones. The research method used to achieve the research objectives is using two methods consisting of field geological surveys and X-Ray Fluoresence (XRF) Geochemical laboratory analysis. Based on the results and discussion that the two sandstone samples are of the Fe-Shale and Fe-Sand types which originate from the ARC (oceanic island arc) tectonic setting.
