Abstract

Abstract. Pontianak City is the capital of West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. In contributing to one of its missions to be a city that supports the development of trade, services and tourism, Pontianak continues to make improvements through physical development and spatial arrangement to maintain the flow of goods and services. The purpose of this study was to analyze the existing urban networks (in this case infrastructure networks) in Pontianak in support of the city's development goals to become a leading trade, services, and tourism center in Kalimantan. Network analysis was applied by analyzing the infrastructure networks, explore the 'structural position' and then the tendency of the infrastructure network configuration in connecting the trade/market areas or tourist attractions was investigated. Based on the analysis, it was found that the central or important areas that link other areas within the infrastructure network configuration are still dominated by market or trading areas/functions, while for tourist attractions they are still limited. Increased centering or grouping in specific areas can be achieved by adding or reducing the degree of connectedness, by arranging the flow or connections (links) from one area (point) to another, directly or indirectly, with the infrastructure network as the intermediary. Keywords: urban, network, trade, tourism, PontianakAbstrak.

Abstract

Covid-19 is a disease that attacks the respiratory tract that began to be identified in Wuhan, China. WHO then announced the condition as a pandemic that quickly spread throughout the world. The rapid spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) also occurred in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. In a spatial-temporal perspective, the spread of infectious diseases can be happened by the interconnectivity or interaction between areas, populations, and transportation facilities that facilitate community mobility. This research aims to describe the interactions between regions in West Kalimantan and the relation to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used centrality measurement and cluster analysis, where the results of these calculations are then described in line with the distribution of the Covid-19 case in West Kalimantan. From the justification, areas with high centrality in the network configuration tend to have the most confirmed cases compared to other areas. The character of these areas tends to be the main entrance (air/port), the provincial capital, and the hub area in West Kalimantan, which is also included as the same cluster. Another interesting finding is that areas with low centrality, and included in the same cluster, have several people under surveillance which is quite large compared to the previous cluster. These areas tend to have a dense population and are directly related to the Provincial Capital and neighboring countries (border).

Abstract

To support the development of lagging areas (border areas), the Government of Indonesia has encouraged urban areas in the border to become strategic areas with certain development priorities. These specified areas could become a growth center for "transferring" the development outputs to the other areas. One of the border regency in West Kalimantan Province is Sambas Regency. There are two categories of "strategic areas" in this regency, that is Sambas District (the regency’s capital city) as a tourism strategic area, and border area (Temajuk and Aruk) as the National Strategic Activities Center. Expectedly, these two strategic areas could interact more balanced and equally in regional development. This research deals with preliminary exploration which aims to identify the tendency of regional interaction in the strategic areas. Interaction is considerably important for the lagging areas in the border to  distribute development outputs from other areas. This study applies the principle approach of network analysis by using different network types such as technical networks (infrastructure), transactional networks, and social networks. The results show that the interaction between developed and lagging areas has not been optimal yet. Sambas District is more attracted to the south closing to the provincial capital city while the border areas more attached to neighboring countries as well as other advanced (internal) areas next to the border.

Abstract

Designing configuration of buildings and streets in an urban area by maximizing air movement is an approach of the sustainable city. The existing buildings and streets of an urban area can affect the microclimate formed, including the airflow. The airflow can be used to create a comfortable city environment. Jalan Gajahmada is one of the economic strategic areas in Pontianak City which requires a comfortable condition to support activities there. The airflow that occurs in Gajahmada Street affects the conditions that occur now. This paper aims to provide an overview of airflow conditions on Gajahmada Street Area. The research method is through computer simulations using the Envi-Met simulation program. The data used local climate data and field data based on surveys. Through the analysis, it is known that the airflow is strongly influenced by the direction of the wind, the surface mass of the building and the ratio between the height of the building to the width of the streets that is formed from the distance between building masses (H / W).

Abstract

Recent day, tourism has become one of the important (experience) industries, which has ability to promoted financial sector growth, steering physical development, and self-promotion event. In sum, tourism has many perspective fields of studies, and some of them are city-regional studies, built environment and architecture. The aim of this paper is to provide a perspective on the“design structure” and also the integration in multi-disciplinary level in a perspective of physical environmental design (built environment). The construction of ideas was done through deepening and searching of related literatures and then complemented by practices side reviewed. In the realm of physical environmental design, theoretically, there are some multi-disciplinary considerations; emotional-personal to the adaptation of physical design process. And, some of the approaches may be formed by “frame” of: architectural design, zoning and division, routes and circulation, natural condition, as well as technology utilization.

Abstract

In step with economic growth, Pontianak City continues developing its physical development. From an environmental perspective, physical development that does not pay attention to the environment may make air temperature rise and create inconvenience to human. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the tendency in the built/physical environmental aspects that have the possibility of influencing the microclimate in the urban center, regarding the trade area in Pontianak City. Built environmental aspects such as building density, building height, materials, etc. are described and then simulated towards the existing climate elements such as temperature, humidity, solar radiation, cloud cover, and others. The simulations used three-dimensional software ENVI_MET version 4. From findings, it can be seen that the built environment characteristics can affect the microclimate condition. From the simulations, the dominant temperature differences may occur in such built environment conditions such as density, dimensions, location, material, and vegetation closure.

Abstract

The research of the thermal environment of the school building is useful for determining the design strategy of a thermally comfortable school building. This research method is based on field measurements. A total of 8 classrooms from 4 public school buildings in Pontianak City with different characteristics of opening directions, orientations, and floor locations were selected in this study. The results showed that the air temperature and humidity in the classroom ranged between 26.9oC-33.5oC and 74.5%-84.2%. The average air velocity in the classroom is 0.24m/s. The globe temperature is higher than the air temperature with an average difference of 7.7oC. Protection against solar radiation and increased air velocity can be potential design strategies to achieve thermal comfort in classrooms.

Abstract

The traditions inherent in the Sambas community make this area thick with customs in people's lives. The development of human civilization is created over time, as is the case with the people in Sambas. Preservation of culture has started in the past and has been preserved until now. Art and Culture that continues to be maintained over time begins to change even more, worse, many are forgotten. This sustainability has an impact on the values of the community, which is reflected in their daily life. Art and Culture is the identity of the community, it is important that efforts are made to maintain it. As an area that upholds the values of traditional arts and culture in the social life of the city of Sambas, it does not yet have a centralized place to accommodate the traditional activities of the Sambas area. There are no supporting facilities to carry out activities and introduce Arts, Culture and Traditions to the community specifically for present and future generations. Concentration of place to continue to preserve this tradition is needed. Therefore, the existence of the Cultural Park aims to accommodate the cultural activities of the Sambas people. The design of the Cultural Park will not only make it a place for the arts but will become a hierarchy of identity for the Cultural and Arts buildings that exist in this city and aims to reintroduce traditions that have begun to be abandoned by the times. Integrating the content contained in Art, Culture and Tradition preserved with Architectural values, in responding to problems, thinking about conformity to the environment. Through the application of Neovernacular Architecture, it is hoped that it can bring back the Art and Cultural Traditions of the Sambas community.

Abstract

Bukit Kelam is the largest monolith rock in the world beating Ayers Rock in Uluru, Australia. Bukit Kelam is located in Kelam Permai District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. Bukit Kelam is can attract tourists with its uniqueness. This hill is also an iconic tourist attraction. This potential has not been accompanied by the accommodation in the fulfillment of the needs of visitors. Based on existing observations and data, lodging accommodation is not yet available in this area. Facilities are needed that can be a place of retreat for tourists in the form of a Resort hotel. There are also issues sourced from the official website of the Sintang Regency Investment Departement (DPMPTSP) regarding investment development in the form of hotel construction in Kelam Permai District. Resort Hotels are not only a lodge but can also be a medium for visitors to enjoy the natural potential in the Bukit Kelam area. The application of the design theme "Back to nature" in Resort hotels is to uniting nature and the environment around the Bukit Kelam area with the buildings and activities. The concepts of this design theme are to make visitors enjoy the unspoiled potential of nature. With the Resort hotel, it can complement the accommodation in supporting the potential of the Bukit Kelam.
