Abstract

Limited access to health services, such as minimal prenatal class programs, often increases health risks due to lack of adequate monitoring. In addition, low support from health workers can cause various problems, both physical and psychological, for pregnant women. Poor physical health and high levels of anxiety can have a negative impact on the health of the mother and fetus, even risking the baby being neglected and lacking breast milk. Therefore, when health worker resources are limited, empowering pregnant women becomes very important. The study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of education and assistance in increasing pregnant women's knowledge about self-care in pregnancy. This study used a quasi-experiment with a pre-posttest two group design. The population was pregnant women and the sampling technique was a purposive sampling technique. The number of samples was 60 people divided into two groups. Education and assistance were carried out for approximately 30 minutes, twice with a time span of one week. The media used was a Module. The pre-test was conducted to determine knowledge using a questionnaire. The post-test was conducted in the same way, after intervention was given to both the treatment and control groups. To see the effect of education and assistance, an independent T test was used. The results of the study showed that education and assistance were effective in increasing pregnant women's knowledge about self-care during pregnancy with a p-value of 0.000. The conclusion is that education and assistance are effective in increasing knowledge about self-care during pregnancy.

Abstract

Amidst the rapid growth of digital literacy, subsistence UMKM are a low-income group, particularly female heads of households who are the backbone of their families, facing the dual challenges of limited access to resources and digital literacy gaps. The government plays an active role in community empowerment programs through training in general business development. Therefore, community empowerment through digital-based entrepreneurship education addresses these challenges by opening mindsets, connecting ideas, skills, and market access through digital technology, and promoting cross-sector collaboration in a mutually reinforcing ecosystem. This study aims to determine the role of digital-based entrepreneurship education in the success of such community empowerment programs. This research collaborates with the Women's Empowerment Agency (DP2PA) in collaboration with the Indonesian Creative Women's Community and academics from the UMKM Entrepreneurship Institute of Widya Gama Mahakam University in Samarinda in an empowerment program through non-formal entrepreneurship education at women's business schools. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, with data obtained through interviews and observations, using instruments in the form of interview guides and observation guides. There were 15 participants consisting of organizers, mentors, facilitators, and business school participants. The data analysis process was applied inductively by referring to Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes five stages, namely data collection, data presentation, data reduction, conclusion drawing, and verification. The results of the study show that the success of the empowerment program requires the role of entrepreneurship education in encouraging an entrepreneurial attitude, the ability to identify and create business opportunities, and the ability to integrate digital technical skills and strengthen the entrepreneurial mindset. In practical terms, this study concludes that amid digital disruption, digital-based entrepreneurship education, mentoring, and community become the main catalysts for the transition of subsistence UMKM to sustainable businesses

Abstract

Background – Financial literacy is an increasingly important adult capability because household decisions now combine budgeting, saving, borrowing, investment, and digitally mediated financial services. In Indonesia, these decisions are shaped by uneven access to financial services, differences in digital competence, and the financial management needs of households and micro, small, and medium enterprises. Research Urgency – Recent Indonesian studies are distributed across financial inclusion, fintech adoption, MSME finance, digital literacy, and community education. The evidence is less often synthesized from an adult-learning perspective that asks how relevance, experience, participation, cultural context, mentoring, and evaluation shape financial learning. Research Objectives – This review synthesizes recent evidence on adult financial literacy in Indonesia, identifies andragogical principles that are visible in effective educational practice, examines digital and cultural conditions that affect participation, and proposes implications for nonformal and community-based financial education. Research Method – An integrative review was conducted using 54 peer-reviewed and DOI-traceable publications from 2022–2026. Indonesian studies were prioritized for contextual evidence, while recent international studies were used to interpret financial literacy, digital financial capability, and adult-learning design. Findings were organized through thematic comparison rather than meta-analysis. Research Findings – Five recurring design requirements were identified: problem-centered learning tied to immediate financial decisions; use of learners’ prior experience; guided practice and reflection; support for digital financial capability and risk awareness; and contextualization through community, livelihood, and, where appropriate, Islamic financial values. Evidence also indicates that one-off knowledge transfer is insufficient when programs lack mentoring, accessibility, and follow-up evaluation. Research Conclusion – Andragogy is most useful as a design framework for financial education rather than as a stand-alone explanation of financial behavior. Adult financial literacy programs are more defensible when practical learning, digital inclusion, culturally responsive facilitation, and sustained support are connected to observable financial practices. Research Novelty/Contribution – This review develops a community-based andragogical framework for adult financial literacy education in Indonesia. The framework integrates problem-centered learning, prior experience, guided practice, digital financial capability, culturally responsive facilitation, mentoring, and outcome-based evaluation. It extends existing financial-literacy research by positioning community learning infrastructure as a mechanism that connects financial knowledge with observable financial practices.

Abstract

Background – Organic waste management remains a major environmental challenge in Indonesia, requiring not only technological solutions but also educational approaches that promote environmental awareness and sustainable behavior. Black Soldier Fly (BSF) cultivation offers a practical approach that integrates organic waste management with environmental education and circular economy principles. Research Urgency – Despite growing interest in BSF cultivation for waste management, limited studies have explored its role as a learning medium for eco-literacy development and circular economy education, particularly in nonformal education settings. Research Objectives – This study aims to explore, through an exploratory mixed-methods case study, how BSF cultivation functioned as a learning strategy and experiential learning medium for eco-literacy development and circular economy education through the Maggotpreneur Program at PKBM Bhina Swakarya. Research Method – This study used an embedded mixed-methods case study design with a one-group pretest–posttest component, conducted over three weeks. Of 53 Package B and Package C learners initially assessed for experience and interest, 34 joined the training program, and the 14 who joined the BSF cultivation learning group (ages 14–45) and completed both pretest and posttest assessments formed the main analytic sample. Quantitative data (a 15-item knowledge test) were analyzed using paired-samples statistics and N-Gain scores; qualitative data from field observations and participant reflections were analyzed through iterative coding, categorization, and interpretation. Given the one-group design without a comparison group and the small sample, this study is exploratory in nature. Research Findings – Knowledge scores increased significantly from pretest to posttest, t(13) = 4.41, p < .001, with a mean N-Gain of 0.59 (moderate) and a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.18), indicating a learning improvement in participants' understanding of organic waste management and circular economy concepts. Qualitative observations suggested increased environmental awareness and a shift in some participants' perceptions of organic waste, from viewing it as a disposal problem toward recognizing it as a resource with environmental and economic value. Research Conclusion – As an exploratory case study, this research provides preliminary evidence that BSF cultivation can serve as an experiential and contextual learning medium for promoting eco-literacy and circular economy education in nonformal education settings; confirmatory studies with comparison groups are needed to establish effectiveness. Research Novelty/Contribution – This study contributes by positioning BSF cultivation not only as an organic waste management practice but also as an experiential learning medium for eco-literacy development and circular economy education within a nonformal education context, specifically through the Maggotpreneur Program at a community learning center (PKBM) in Indonesia.
