Abstract

Natural environment should be cared and sustained. It is a place for human to live and develop their social and economical world. Moreover, it is also a site for many biodiversity to live together in a balanced ecosystem. Recently, global awareness is directed to the alarming destruction of environment and its’ potential threats for human and other living things, as the impacts of human social-economical activities. Many efforts are executed to avoid or minimize future environmental damage. One of those endeavours is environmental education for young generation. Growing children’s environmental knowledge, protection skills and management as well as caring and responsible character can be an endurant solution. This study aims to examine some learning aspects in environmental education through green school development in MI Walisongo, Desa Sawohan, Sidoarjo. The study is based on a qualitative inquiry conducted by using direct participant observation as its’ data collection method. The study finds that environmental education requires a wide range of learning experiences, relating to emotion, direct practice and cognition development. In Green School MI Walisongo Desa Sawohan, those experiences are manifested into several learning processes: participative learning, modeling, character building, green site building, learning through game and peer team working.

Abstract

Teknologi sebagai karya manusia telah menghasilkan kemudahan, kenyamanan, efektivitas dan hasil optimal dalam berbagai pekerjaan, namun di samping menghasilkan hal-hal yang positif ternyata juga membawa dampak negatif. Teknologi dan industrialisasi telah menyingkirkan fungsi manusia sebagai salah satu faktor produksi yang dominan. Teknologi yang seharusnya menjadi alat bagi manusia untuk melepaskan diri dari perbudakan kerja, justru berubah menjadi suatu mekanisme yang menyingkirkan manusia sendiri, di sinilah fenomena dehumanisasi menjadi nyata. Dengan demikian permasalahan penting yang menjadi titik tolak kajian ini adalah bagaimana strategi menumbuhkan aspek-aspek human dignity kembali menguat di tengah arus perkembangan teknologi maju dan industrialisasi? Dari kajian yang telah dilakukan maka ditemukan hasil bahwa pada hakikatnya manusia disamping memiliki aspek ragawi juga memiliki potensi jiwa yang universal. Dalam jiwa ini manusia memiliki spiritualitas. Oleh karena itu, untuk menangkal fenomena dehumanisasi akibat teknologi maju dan industrialisasi adalah dengan penguatan kembali potensi spiritualitas manusia secara universal agar manusia dapat memanusiakan manusia, dan mengembalikan manusia kepada martabatnya yang luhur.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of social capital in community development in disaster prone areas. The study was conducted in a disaster-prone area of Mount Kelud, Sempu Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency after the eruption in 2014. The study used a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The results showed that after the eruption in 2014, social capital in the community became a source of strength in community development in the Mount Kelud disaster-prone areas, especially in the process of restoring the social and economic life of the Sempu village community. Social ties, trusts, social networks that are strongly intertwined are the elements of social capital that are still strong which are found in the study area. The results of the study also found a responsive, innovative and transparent leadership pattern developed by the Village Head helped accelerate the recovery process of the socio-economic life of the Sempu village community. The results of the study also revealed that the social capital owned by the local community was tested for strength when dealing with external forces such as the presence of institutions and volunteers involved in the recovery process. This situation triggered tensions between residents and the apparatus assigned to distribute aid.
