Abstract

Ketandan Village is one of the oldest villages located right in the middle of the modernization of the city such as hotel buildings, office centers and trade on Embong Malang, Tunjungan, Praban and Genteng Kali roads. This area is often referred to as the golden quadrilateral of Surabaya's economic growth. In the context of spatial anthropology, the existence of the old village actually has a very strong sociocultural foundation, especially if it is then associated with the presence of the An-Nur Mosque building, the Tomb of Mbah Buyut Tondo and the Joglo Cak Markeso Cultural Hall in the middle of the village. The momentum to develop this cultural capital emerged in 2016 when the revitalization of Joglo Cak Markeso as a pilot project of the Global Public Space Programme (GPSP) and the issuance of the Mayor's Decree related to the status of Ketandan tourism village in 2020. Through the perspective of the political anthropology of space, the spatial aspect is not only measuring technical-material matters but also intertwined with the content of values, knowledge and ideology that affect the social life of the community. The problem is that the cultural construction that is formed is still artificial and procedural, which does not reach the anthropological aspects of space. Spatial practices are incidental and do not become social rituals that encompass daily life. This means that the historic building does not work in the political anthropology of space or move into the political economy of cultural capitalization. This anomaly is a sign that there is cultural disorientation due to weak sociocultural attachment to spatial practices and the determination of urban modernization.

Abstract

We already know that the 2019 presidential election contestation is a very harsh contestation between two pairs of presidential candidates, namely Jokowi and Prabowo. The severity of the contestation is feared to trigger horizontal conflicts and people divisions which causing at least 8 people to die in the election results protest on May 21-22, 2019 in Jakarta. The severity of the contestation is one of the things because the 2019 presidential election involves identity political practices. Therefore this research intends to analyze how much the role of agents and structures in influencing the independence of political choices of voters in each Identity. In the process of analysis this research uses Anthony Giddens' Theory of Structuralization. Departing from Anthony Giddens' theory of structure, this research seeks to explore how significant the influence of agents and structures in influencing the independence of political choices of voters. This research uses qualitative research methods with a critical empirical approach. In this study, it has been found that in influencing the independence of political choices, agent voters and structures are supported by two things, namely alocative and authoritative resources, but in this study there is a finding that to influence the nature of the independence of political choices, voters is not enough only with alocative and authoritative resources, but we find that there are logistical and historical resources that play a significant role in influencing the independence of the political choices of each voters.   Keyword: Identity Politics, Historical, Logistics.

Abstract

Lignocellulose is a natural material that is abundant and usually ends up getting discarded. Utilization of lignocellulose in mushroom growing media can also produce composites in addition to the production of mushroom fruit. In contrast to mushroom cultivation in general, the mycelial composite is an innovation that uses the mushroom roots (mycelia) as an adhesive glue to bind lignocellulosic materials into composites that are designed as packaging. This study investigates the characterization of packaging made from different types of lignocellulose (sawdust, straw, kapok) and types of oyster mushroom growing media (corn, sorghum, grain). The results obtained show that the type of lignocellulose has an effect on the character of the composite, which is due to the lignin content that it contains. Lignocellulosic sawdust (P1) has the best properties because it has tighter porosity (0.75µm), giving a strong composite. On the other hand, as shown by the percentage of moisture content and high water absorption, sawdust is also very sensitive to changes due to humidity and temperature changes. P1 has a moisture content of 10.84% and a water absorption of 265.39%. Mushroom mycelium composites from all treatments have a high water content compared to conventional packaging and also indicate that this packaging has the ability to decompose naturally.

Abstract

Shrimp shells are commonly used as animal feed, but they actually have a savory taste and crispy texture, making them a potential ingredient in food products for human consumption. Shrimp shells also have high nutritional value, comparable to shrimp meat itself. This study aims to evaluate the organoleptic acceptance levels (color, aroma, texture, and taste) of tempe steak formulated with the addition of shrimp shell flour at various concentrations. The variations in shrimp shell flour concentration used in the formulation were 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% of the total tempe weight. Each treatment was made into tempe and subjected to hedonic organoleptic test. The results showed that differences in shrimp shell flour concentration influenced panelist acceptance. The most preferred color of tempe steak made with the addition of shrimp shell flour was found at a concentration of 15%, while the best aroma, taste, and texture parameters were found at a concentration of 10%. However, the acceptance in same parameters was lower than that of no addition of shrimp shell flour, making it necessary for further research to find concentration with higher acceptance.

Abstract

Social media affords both deliberate selective exposure and algorithmic curation. This study examines which pathway better explains youth online political engagement around #IndonesiaGelap issue and whether perceived information credibility mediates these effects. Using PLS-Structural Equation Modelling based on the survey evidence, we find that engagement is driven chiefly by self- selected exposure. Meanwhile, the algorithmic personalization shows only a modest direct association, functioning mainly as a facilitator of visibility rather than a mobilizer. On the other side, credibility operates as a complementary mediator that amplifies the effect of selective exposure on engagement, while contributing little to the transmission of algorithmic effects. These results indicate that online political issue engagement is not simply an algorithmic by-product but arises from intentional information seeking coupled with credible content. Theoretically, the study sharpens the distinction between algorithmic curation and user agency and specifies credibility as a boundary mechanism that conditions especially when exposure translate into engagement. Findings also recommend communication strategies that foreground credible sources, increase information curation, and build media literacy to support deliberate, informed participation.

Abstract

This article discusses the development of the study of “political engineering” and the theoretical discourse used to formulate the continuity and novelty of future studies. It begins by identifying previous studies that serve as the theoretical foundation, and a literature review method is employed to identify the similarities and differences among existing studies, which are then used to formulate new conceptions. The findings indicate that the perspective of “political engineering” has a strong basis and foundation to be developed as a major field of study in Political Science. This is not only due to the variety and development of studies in recent decades, but also because the needs for political science to transform into applicable, practical knowledge capable of addressing contemporary challenges are increasingly urgent. The conception of “new political engineering” focuses on behavior engineering, using psychological mechanisms referred to as hope and fear, directly targeting actors (with or through institutions) and no longer making political institutions the main object of study. Instead, it extends to campaign messages, marketing management, system functions, political institutions, policy products, and policymakers to explain and direct voter behavior.

Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of split ticket voting in the 2019 Simultaneous Elections in West Sumatra. The method used is a quantitative approach with primary data sources in the form of a survey of people's socio-political preferences, as well as secondary data from academic literature. The dependent variables in this study were split ticket voting, while the independent variables included party-ID, candidate personalization, and identity politics polarization. The results of the analysis show that these three variables significantly affect the tendency of voters to divide their choices between legislative candidates and presidential candidates. The findings also show that high levels of ideological identification tend to lower the likelihood of split ticket voting, while weak ideological ties to political parties reinforce this phenomenon. Therefore, this research confirms the importance of parties maintaining their ideological foundations to strengthen voter loyalty and reduce fragmented electoral behavior.

Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri) is a tuber plant that contains a lot of glucomannan fiber. Glucomannan is a soluble fiber that can form a gel that mimics the characteristics of fat so that it has the potential to be used as a fat replacer in high-fat products such as cookies. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using fat replacer on the sensory acceptability and characteristics of cookies. The steps carried out in this study were to determine the concentration of porang flour in fat replacer (5 and 7.5%). Fat replacer with firmness that is closest to margarine at a concentration of 5%. Furthermore, cookies were made with fat replacer substitution (25, 50, and 75%). The cookies were then tested for their organoleptic properties using the hedonic method on the parameters of color, aroma, taste and texture. The best cookie formulation was obtained at 25% substitution, which was then compared with the control formulation by testing the parameters of proximate, crude fiber, texture, and oxalate content. The results showed that cookies with fat replacer had lower levels of ash, fat, protein, calories, and hardness than the control, although the difference in fiber and protein content was not significant.
