Abstract

Effect of infusion is the occurrence of phlebitis, which is characterized by swelling, redness, and pain along the veins. Today, the administration of intravenous therapy (antibiotic administration) is the primary treatment modality. However, it is suggested that the occurrence of phlebitis due to infused antibiotics is more and more increasing. The aimed to identify correlation between the administration infusion of betalactam antibiotics and the occurrence phlebitis at the ward, health care board Jombang. This study used cross-sectional design. The population was all patients receiving betalactam antibiotics infusion treated at ward, health care board Jombang. Samples were recruited using consecutive sampling, with sample size of 40 respondents. The mechanism of data collection, each respondent was observed for three days, on the first day of infusion was insertion and over the next two days were observed. All collected data were analyzed with Chi square correlation test with significance level of alpha <= 0.05. The administration of betalactam antibiotic infusion has no correlation with phlebitis. The result of statistic test showed that level of alpha was 0.000, so that correlation was not confirmed. The reason is not due to the patient's condition can phlebitis neither age nor illness is not severe, procedures using aseptic technique and the insertion with immobilization technique. Although the correlation is not found, the administration of betalactam antibiotic infusion should not overlook all factors that may lead to phlebitis. To obtain a more valid result, further studies are needed with larger sample and using random sampling to have a more generalized result.

Abstract

Background: In managing life with coronary artery disease, having self-efficacy is considered important. Self-efficacy reduces risk factors for coronary artery disease by encouraging the self-control process. The involvement of religiosity aspects can be a motivation to increase self-efficacy in maintaining an individual’s health status. Objective: This study aimed to examine the correlation between religiosity and self-efficacy in patients with coronary artery disease. Methods: This was a correlational study with a cross-sectional approach involving 112 respondents selected using an accidental sampling method in a hospital at Jember District, East Java, Indonesia. Data were collected from December 2019 to January 2020 using the Religiosity Scale and Cardiac Self-Efficacy (CSE). The Spearman’s rank test was used to analyze data. Results: The results showed that the respondents’ religiosity had a median value of 3.84 (min-max: 3.00-4.00), while the median value of self-efficacy was 3.60 (min-max: 2.90-4.00). There was a significant correlation between religiosity and self-efficacy (p = <0.001, r = 0.540, α = 0.05). Conclusion: The moderate positive correlation between religiosity and self-efficacy indicated that the higher value of religiosity leads to a higher value of self-efficacy. The religious value through rituals of prayer or meditation could increase the self-efficacy of patients with coronary artery disease. Nurses are recommended to maintain the religiosity of patients at a good level to improve their self-efficacy and maintain the optimal health status.

Abstract

One of the most postoperative problems is limited movement. The impact of limited movement affects a person's dependence on doing activities of daily living (ADL). The purpose of this study was to determine the Activity of Daily Living Description of postoperative patients. This study is a descriptive research design. Samples were obtained using a consecutive sampling technique with a total of 57 respondents who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The instrument used in this study was the CDS questionnaire. The results of this study showed most of the respondents have partially dependent ADL (56,1%); the ADL of great extent care dependent was 31,6% and 1.8% postoperative patients in the category of completely care dependent. The ADL of mind care dependent was 7% and almost independent was 3,5%. Success in fulfilling ADL needs that can be done by patients independently will accelerate the recovery period and improve the quality of life for postoperative patients. Therefore the role of nurses is very important in fostering the independence of postoperative patients so that postoperative patient ADL dependence is reduced or is able to do ADL independently.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the prevalence of breast cancer is quite high, from report data (Riskesdas, 2018) stating that breast cancer reaches 42.1% with an average death rate of around 17%. The type of treatment that is often used by breast cancer patients is a mastectomy. Masectomy raises physical and psychological impact. The current phenomenon is that many women experience some level of psychosocial pressure during their cancer journey, which can have an impact on issues of faith or religiosity, self-compassion, and quality of life (Hewit et al, 2019). The research design conducted by researchers is observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were breast cancer patients after mastectomy surgery at Dr. Soebandi Jember and the sample of this study were 38 respondents. The religiosity analysis in this study found that the religiosity study of patients who experienced breast cancer post-masectomy surgery obtained that the median value of the religiosity variable was 60.00 with the lowest value being 23 and the highest being 64. Meanwhile, the self-compassion analysis found that self-compassion research on patients who experienced breast cancer after mastectomy surgery found that the median value of the self-compassion variable was 94.50 with the lowest value being 65 and the highest being 98. Analysis using Pearson Product moment obtained a p-value of 0.000 less than 0.05 so that the Ha hypothesis is accepted or it can be said that there is a relationship between religiosity and self-compassion in post-massectomy breast cancer patients at Dr. Soebandi Jember.
