Abstract

A highly urbanization and private vehicle ownership has led to the development of cities becomes unmanageable as well as tends to be urban sprawl. Moreover, congestion, pollution and fossil fuels consumption are increased, along with the decreasing of the feasibility habitation as well. Therefore, we need to manage its growth by applying the right policies. One of them is green belt, which is rounding the existing city by green area. Furthemore, the developments of new settlement are directed outside the green belt and become satellite cities to the major cities.  The increasing of urbanization, make the demand in transportation will be increased as well; the requirements of accessibility and mobility have to be supported to keep them running well. Comparative analysis method is used in this research by determining policy transportation as a result of comparing transport policies from among these countries: China, Dutch, England, Malaysia and Indonesia. Transportation policies that are propossed including: restrictions on the amount of ownership of a vehicle, the construction of facilities ‘park and ride’ outside the green belt  and public transport facilities  towards the city center using railway or bus station in an integrated area services concept. Thus, it will allow the enhancement of accessibility and mobility of citizens.

Abstract

The using of Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (IHCM) for road capacity and traffic speed analysis need to be reconsidered, because of the old-fashioned basic data. There are increasing of elements like the quantity of motorbike and their compotition ini traffic and the increasing of national road length, bring to the condition that the Indonesia’s traffic characteristics is now changing. IHCM formed by the using of macroscopic traffic flow theory, this study uses microscopic side, implementing traffic simulation with helped of Vissim software on Menteri Supeno Road in Yogyakarta at 6.45 am to 7.45 am. The statistics analysis on the distribution of vehicle arrival headway and traffic speed, told that there is no significant difference between the survey and the Vissim’s result, the analysis continued, found that the capacity of the road is 4,193 vehicles.

Abstract

Traffic jam is one of the main problems nowadays in transportation network, especially in the intersection, because of the conflict of movements between vehicles which came from each of its arms. An intersection is the junction in transportation network where two or more roads either meeting or crossing. In this analysis, author used a traffic simulation with Vissim software to predict the queues. The results have been compared to actual result at the site. Primary data were collected by conducting a survey using traffic counting method on Wednesday afternoon peak hour. The results of both analysis and survey are, average queue length of Vissim is 62 m and average queue length of observation is 60 m. It is concluded that there is no significant different between the simulation and the actual results. However, there is a significant different in deviation of the results.

Abstract

Abstract Tachometer is an instrument capable of measuring the speed of rotation of an object that is not directly an indication of the safety of the engine rotation. Tachometer in this study is mounted on a fleet of Trans Jogja. The primary data collection, in the form of speed graph from tachometer data recording, was then conducted and secondary data were obtained from PT Denso Sales Indonesia. The results showed that the average speed of Trans Jogja fleet in the morning is 42.86 km/h, at noon 36.5 km/h, in the afternoon 35.2 km/h, and in the evening 37.39 km/h. The observed violation was a violation which occurs when the driver passes the speed limit of vehicles in the city, which is 50 km/h. This study shows that 27.45 % violation occurs in the morning, 12.6 % during the day, 13 % in the afternoon, and 17.46 % in the evening.
