Abstract

The ever-increasing population has accelerated the need for housing and supporting facilities. Further, this growing number of residences and life support facilities resulted in changes in land cover. For instance, the construction of the West Java International Airport and the increase in the population resulted in land cover changes in Majalengka Regency, Indonesia. This study aims to analyze changes in land cover during 2014, 2018, and 2022 in the Majalengka district using Landsat 8 satellite imagery. We used the pan-sharpening research method, while for the closure classification, we used machine-learning random forest algorithms on the google earth engine platform. The land cover classification classes adopted in this study were natural vegetation, cultivated vegetation, open land, built-up land, and bodies of water. The obtained land cover classification results suggested overall accuracy values of 0.96, 0.94, and 0.93 in 2014, 2018, and 2022 respectively, with kappa index values of 0.950, 0.925, and 0.91667. The results indicate a trend of changes in the land cover in the Majalengka district. From 2014-2022, the trend of increasing land cover area was observed in open land and built-up land, while the decreasing land cover area was found in natural vegetation and cultivated vegetation areas. Using both the pan-sharpening method and the machine learning random forest algorithm, we established images with a more detailed appearance with an outstanding kappa accuracy value (above 0.85). Therefore, the developed algorithm can be used in land cover change mapping analysis.

Abstract

Land cover will change due to population pressure, resource use, and human interest in space. Measuring the land area is important to determine how much-converted land is positive and negative. The vegetation on land was determined by how densely the plants were spread out. This study is conducted in Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi Regency. Aims to test and compare how accurate EVI and SAVI are at seeing vegetation density. The images used are from Landsat 8 in 2018 and 2022. Calibration is performed using high-resolution images, followed by field surveys with 98 points from polygon sampling. The average accuracy of the results from EVI is 49%, while the average accuracy of the results from SAVI is 45%. So, we can say that the EVI or SAVI based-input gives a similar result on observing the vegetation density in Palabuhanratu.

Abstract

This study discusses how people in Kuningan Regency divided into indigenous and immigrant communities interpret human relations with nature as well as changes in the context of the natural environment identified through the configuration of the components of the settlements. The observed natural environments include water, land, forest, and mountains, while the settlement components include houses, village halls, mosques, cemeteries, and rice fields. The data used in this study is qualitative data from various literature, maps, observations, and in-depth interviews. The method used in this study is the method of interpretation to reveal the meaning behind the spatial pattern of settlement as a unity of signs. The results reveal that the influence of water and land was more dominant in nature-depended traditional settlement and transition settlement. Meanwhile, forests and mountains did not have a major impact on the spatial patterns of all three categories of settlements.

Abstract

The limited space on land increases the important of spatial planning that is transparent, accountable and effective, which involves multi-stakeholders in its conception. Such planning is intended to create spatial arrangement that supports security, productivities and sustainability. In the attempt to secure food supply in the future, the government of Indonesia has initiated Food Estate program in 2020 which occupy some vast areas. By occupying large area, careful spatial planning and its proper implementation is highly important for a successful program. This study is a survey to the land use and land utilization in one of the planned areas for food estate project in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, and evaluate their suitability with the designated spatial planning. There is 39.598,95 Ha or 61,24 % of the total land use that suitable with the spatial planning and 25.064,75 Ha or 38,76 % that is not suitable. It is expected that as the food estate program is rolling, the suitability percentage will increase and lead to the successful production of food supplies.
