Abstract

This article describes the condition of applying zakah and tax calculation management in Indonesia. The enactment of tax regulation is to get the government to obtain the maximum national income to be utilized for social welfare. In fact, zakah as a potential economic instrument inincreasing the national income, has been paid less attention by the government rather than the issue of tax payment. Although the government has issued regulations on the integration of zakah and tax calculations, some weaknesses found especially related to the implementation of the zakah and tax calculation. This paper concludes that the governement is expected to implement and inclusive management based on principle of maqashid al syari‘ah in determining the amount of zakah and tax for better collection and distribution of zakah and tax. The principle of maqashid al syari‘ah means that Islamic law has a purpose to prosper the people. Similarly, zakat together with taxes essentially aims at alleviating poverty and improving the welfare of Muslims.

Abstract

Best practices of formal school education, particularly in the instructional management relates to teaching and learning. Education deals with all domains of human competency. In elementary school, unfortunately, there is still a discrepancy between aim and result. Teacher misconduct will affect students’ bad character. The incorrect education process may create failure in achieving defined educational goals. It is vital for any nation to have competent educational practitioners to ensure its success in developing its students’ skills as a human capital investment of a nation. School curriculum goal is derived from the national education aims which develop students’ potentials for becoming good people in hard skills and soft skills. Therefore, the ideal teachers should understand all students’ characteristics and potentials. This research is an attempt to highlight the function of instructional management of soft skills to the success of students’ performance. The study employs a qualitative research method with multiple case study design, in which a meaning-making activity is underlined as the first objective of interpretive research in understanding social phenomena of education activities. Such phenomena to be interpreted may be found in the practical realm, skilled know-how, and experiences. Based on findings, it is known substantively that students’ soft skills will not be developed if the instructional management focuses on academic. On the other hand, soft skills will enhance significantly students’ academic results, because soft skills will enable and improve students’ potentials to reach the best learning achievement. At last, the researcher offers soft skills formula from an Islamic perspective as a comprehensive concept for building student character to be a good man. In Islamic precepts soft skills are akhlak-adab, good character, positive behavior, spread kindness and bring many benefits to others and the environment. However, these soft skills must be placed under the guidance of Qur’an and Sunnah.

Abstract

This study examines the extent to which the concepts, theories, and practices of educational supervision can be developed in a pluralistic society, particularly in the context of Indonesian education. Educational supervision in this context refers to instructional supervision, which is more focused on supporting and facilitating teachers to enhance the quality of instruction in achieving specific goals according to the concept of educational supervision. In Indonesia, the theory and practice of educational supervision face various challenges, given that general education is also conducted by religious-based educational institutions, particularly Islam, which oversees numerous Islamic schools, madrasahs, and pesantren. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach that critiques the implementation of the concepts, theories, and practices of educational science, particularly related to instructional or teaching supervision. The findings indicate that educational supervision in Islamic educational institutions has not yet been effective and efficient, as there remains a gap between the ideal and the reality in the field. Educational theories and the legal aspects of education enshrined in education laws have not been fully implemented properly. The study concludes that the education system must first emphasize the implementation of educational processes such as improving and equalizing the quality of teachers, enhancing learning facilities, libraries, and laboratories. A paradigm shift is necessary, changing the focus from solely academic (hard skills) to also include soft skills and non-academic aspects. The teaching and learning process should be designed to be more engaging, focusing on the improvement of the affective (attitudes) and psychomotor (skills) domains, rather than being limited to the cognitive (knowledge) domain alone.

Abstract

Background. The National Examination (UN) policy in Indonesia, which applies to both public schools and Madrasahs, has been criticized for its limitations and lack of alignment with modern educational evaluation concepts. The National Examination is considered inadequate as it lacks multifunctionality and is not suited for evaluating all types of educational institutions. Particularly for Madrasahs, which focus on students' morals and Islamic character, the National Examination is seen as an inappropriate tool for assessment. Purpose. The researcher aims to explore the implications of the National Examination policy for Madrasahs, utilizing a literature review approach. The goal is to evaluate the policy from the perspective of contemporary learning evaluation concepts and determine its fairness, appropriateness, and theoretical grounding. Method. A literature review approach is employed to analyze the National Examination policy and its impact on Madrasahs. This approach involves examining various scholarly sources and theoretical frameworks related to learning evaluation. Results. The study reveals that the National Examination policy is unjust, inappropriate, and lacks a solid theoretical basis. It highlights that the policy, which relies predominantly on written tests (paper & pencil tests), fails to adequately assess the diverse aspects of student learning, particularly in the context of Madrasahs, which emphasize religious education. Conclusion. The findings indicate that the National Examination is not a suitable evaluation tool for Madrasahs and is misaligned with modern educational evaluation theories. The reliance on written tests does not fully capture the holistic nature of student learning, especially in institutions with a focus on religious values. The study calls for reconsideration of the evaluation methods used for Madrasahs to better align with their educational objectives and theoretical foundations.

Abstract

This research is motivated by concerns about the high level of violence, hate speech, bullying, and brawls between students in the educational environment, all of which are alarms that indicate character education in schools has not been maximized. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with an inductive approach to qualitative analysis methods. The data sources in this study are primary data, namely school principals, teachers, dormitory builders, branch administrators of the Wanasigra Ahmadiyya Congregation, and students, while secondary data are lesson plans and various videos on the YouTube channel of SMU Plus Al-Wahid related to the object under study. . Data obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were then analyzed qualitatively by using triangulation to ensure the validity of the data against the focus understudy—the results of this study: 1. Character education at SMU Plus Al-Wahid was born from four sources: the Indonesian nation's culture, the Pancasila state basis, Abab 21 demands, and the organizational motto 'Love For All Hatred For None. 2. Implement character education at SMU Plus Al-Wahid through learning, habituation, and example in four activity posts; extracurricular, extracurricular, dorm life, and social activities. 3. A more comprehensive evaluation of character education occurs in schools, dormitories, and community environments. 4. Implementation of character education from the perspective of the motto 'love for all hatred for none' was developed by the Muslim community of the Indonesian Ahmadiyya congregation to participate in strengthening the character of the nation's children on a communal basis, showing synergy with the community around the school. This study concludes that character education in a community-based school does not have to undermine the cultivation of national character education. Still, it can collaborate with character values ??from organizational wisdom.
