Abstract

The processing and marketing group (Poklahsar) Swakarya Bersama is one of the women's MSMEs located in Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency. Poklahsar Swakarya Bersama is an MSME that drives regional superior products, namely processed seaweed. One of the superior products is seaweed tortilla chips which have been produced since 2019. The most important part in the production process of seaweed tortilla chips is drying. The drying process influences product quality, namely crispness, durability (shelf life) and aroma. The drying carried out by Poklahsar Swakarya Bersama still uses direct drying by the sun. The aim of the activities carried out is to implement a simple drying house which can improve product quality and shorten production time. The advantage of the simple designed drying house is that the heat produced comes from sunlight and does not require additional heat generating equipment. The equipment test results show that a simple drying house produces a faster drying rate compared to traditional drying. The drying rate of tortilla chip dough using a greenhouse effect dryer was 63.33 grams/hour. A simple drying house can also protect products from exposure to unfavorable environments so that the resulting products are cleaner and of better quality.

Abstract

Perumahan Pondok Asri merupakan salah satu perumahan di wilayah pesisir Kota Balikpapan. Pada perumahan ini diidentifikasi membutuhkan beberapa penguatan dan pengembangan sumber daya diantaranya adalah edukasi bagi anak-anak terutama terkait kemaritiman. Adapun lingkup bagian dari pengenalan kemaritiman ini meliputi bidang Teknik Kelautan dan Teknik Perkapalan. Kegiatan edukasi ini dilakukan dalam beberapa modul dan pertemuan. Hal ini dilakukan untuk memudahkan peserta dalam memahami materi yang diberikan. Tidak hanya itu, untuk mengukur pemahaman peserta, kegiatan ini juga diberikan tes sebelum dan sesudah kegiatan. Peserta diberikan tes yang berfungsi untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman peserta baik sesudah maupun sebelum diberikannya modul. Dari peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan ini, diketahui bahwa 80% dari peserta memahami materi yang diberikan pada akhir sesi.

Abstract

Salah satu teknologi saat ini yang banyak digunakan untuk menghasilkan pendapatan yaitu teknologi penyambungan material logam yang biasanya disebut pengelasan (welding). Salah satu contoh produk hasil pengelasan yang kini punya pasar (market) dan menjadi opsi berwirausaha yaitu kanopi rumah. Namun, produk hasil pengelasan lain yang dapat dikomersilkan masih banyak seperti rak sepatu, tiang lampu dan lain-lain. Semakin berkembangnya Kota Balikpapan dengan masifnya pembangunan kawasan perumahan dari tahun ke tahun menjadikan permintaan produk hasil las sangat tinggi. Dengan demikian, untuk memenuhi permintaan pasar yang begitu besar terhadap kebutuhan keahlian mengelas, maka perlu dilakukan pelatihan kepada masyarakat terkait pemanfaatan teknologi pengelasan ini. Dalam hal ini, masyarakat yang menjadi sasaran kegiatan pelatihan dan unjuk kerja teknologi pengelasan yaitu salah satu kelompok masyarakat yang terdapat di Kelurahan Karang Joang. Karang Joang sebagai salah satu kelurahan di kecamatan Balikpapan Utara menjadi salah satu daerah yang memiliki pembangunan perumahan yang sangat tinggi utamanya di wilayah jalan Batu Ratna KM. 11. Terdapat kurang lebih 9 perumahan yang saat ini masih melakukan tahap pembangunan yang terbentang sepanjang ± 3 KM. Olehnya itu, tingkat kebutuhan akan produk hasil las sangat tinggi. Mitra yang akan dijadikan pada kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu kelompok Pengurus Mushollah Baitussalam Karang Joang KM. 11 yang terdiri dari 20 orang anggota pengurus. Mitra ini dipilih karena anggota pengurus belum memiliki pemahaman dan keterampilan terkait teknologi pengelasan. Selain itu, potensi usaha produk hasil las untuk di kawasan ini sangat tinggi. Mitra diberikan bekal penyuluhan teori teknologi pengelasan dan kewirausahaan. Selain itu mitra berkesempatan unjuk kerja mengelas dan berhasil menghasilkan produk hasil las berupa tiang lampu dari bahan pipa carbon steel sebanyak 15 batang.

Abstract

To identify the GT of traditional wooden boats built at PPU, an investigation of the GT on the boat is carried out. The GT of the North Penajam Paser traditional wooden ship was identified using domestic regulations issued by the government through the Ministry of Transportation, PM No. 45 of 2021 and PP No. 85 of 2021 concerning PNBP of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation. Before being operated, every ship must be measured to determine the length, width, depth and tonnage of the ship in accordance with the ship measurement method. According to Law number 20 of 1997, "Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) is all Central Government revenue that does not come from revenues taxation". ship data studied for determining gross tonnage, Lpp: 17.76m, LoA: 21.90 m, Lwl: 19.06m, B: 4m, H: 2m, T: 1.40m, Cb: 0.50. Calculating ship tonnage or calculating gross tonnage and net tonnage has two methods, namely the empirical method and the analytical method. The analytical ship GT value is 14.16 and the empirical ship GT is 14.79. The total amount of PNPB on ships based on analytics is IDR 5,600,704.74. The total empirical PNPB amount is IDR 8,43,031.01. The difference between analytical and empirical PNBP is IDR 242,327.01. The difference between GT based on analytical and GT empirical methods is 0.63. the comparison level between the two methods is 4%.

Abstract

Naval grade plate is designed for shipbuilding due to its strength. In the shipyard, old plates have been used because surplusage of the previous project. However, the mechanical properties of old plate compared to new plate have not been clarified yet. In this study, a comparative investigation shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) of old plate and new plate was performed. A spectroscopy test was used to obtain the chemical properties of the old plate and the new plate. Furthermore, tensile and hardness tests were performed to investigate the mechanical properties It was concluded that (1) the chemical properties of the old and new plates are almost similar and (2) the average value of tensile strength of the old-old plate, new-new plate, and new-old plate are 451.3, 487, 454,3 N/mm2, respectively. (3) then, the average hardness test of HAZ of old plate, new plate, and weld metal are 73.2, 78.3, 83.2 HRB, respectively. From the results, it can be concluded that using old plates for shipbuilding is still reliable.

Abstract

Challenges in procuring wood as the primary material for ships have led to a decline in overall quality. Meeting the demands of shipbuilding often involves neglecting consideration for the quality and characteristics of construction materials. Additionally, the shipbuilding process commonly overlooks technical and operational aspects associated with construction specifications. Ship damages frequently result from the selection of wood types, sizes, and ages that do not meet construction criteria or fall below the standards for achieving optimal construction. Many ship constructions are identified that fail to meet the requirements for ensuring the safety and security of the crew, ship, and cargo during operations. This research aims to numerically assess the transverse strength of fishing vessels operating in Penajam Paser Utara using Ansys software. Survey results indicate an average size of fishing boats in this area as 10 – 20  meters in length. 2.6 - 3.5 meters in width, and 1.6 – 2.5 meters in height. The stress analysis results from Ansys Workbench were recorded at 2.3402 MPa

Abstract

Semi-enclosed waters surrounded by islands such as Balikpapan Bay, whose waters are influenced by the dynamics of sea tides which affect current speed. Therefore, to understand the pattern and circulation of ocean currents in Balikpapan Bay, especially in the Wain River shipping channel, one way is by hydrodynamic modeling. The water area on the Wain River is an area related to shipping lanes as a shipping route at the Ferry Port. This research on current speed and direction aims to further research on maintaining the depth of shipping lanes due to sedimentation around the Ferry Harbor waters. Therefore, researchers conducted an initial study to create a simulation model of tidal current patterns using Mike 21 software with the aim of finding out what the tidal current patterns and current directions are in the waters of Balikpapan Bay as further data for maintaining the depth of shipping lanes. The data processing used is based on primary data in the form of current speed and direction, and tides and secondary data in the form of depth, current speed and direction, and tides, which are then validated using the RMSE method and to determine the type of tide using the Almilarty method. The results of this research are modeling tidal flow patterns and mapping changes in the morphology of the Wain River. The current speed at high tide ranges from 0.1 m/s to 0.4 m/s, while the current speed at low tide ranges from 0.1 m/s to 0.2 m/s. The depth of the waters around the Wain River is 1 m to 5 m. The tidal type in the waters of the Wain River is a mixed daily double bias.

Abstract

The graving dock gate is one part of the graving dock construction. the construction of the graving dock gate that is directly facing the sea must be able to withstand the load from the water at all times. by making modifications to the Gate construction, the design results are obtained which are quite optimal in terms of weight strength. the redesign of the graving dock Gate pt.barokah galangan perkasa cannot be separated from a problem where the previous construction design was too heavy and exceeded the required laden. Causing the graving dock gate to not be able to float when the water conditions are low. The main size of the graving dock gate pt.barokah galangan perkasa is 3 meters long, 46 meters wide, 7.32 meters high. the method used in this redesign process is to use the e application of the finite element method ANSYS apdl, while 3d modeling uses SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
