Abstract

Background: Neonatal death is a condition responsible for babies' deaths during the first month after birth (0-28 days). Low birth weight (LBW) conditions are the leading cause of neonatal death. Nutritional needs during pregnancy can reduce the risk of LWB neonatal death. One way to avoid it is to take iron-folic acid tablets during pregnancy. Health conditions must be monitored during pregnancy to reduce the risk of neonatal death by conducting four ANC. East Java is one of the largest contributors to LWB neonatal death in Indonesia 2019-2021. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the relationship of LWB neonatal death with the coverage of iron-folic acid tablet pregnancy and four ANC in East Java. Methods: This study used an observasional analytic study design with 38 cities/regencies in East Java. The Pearson correlation test was used to analyze secondary data from the East Java Health Report for 2019-2021. Data processing was done using SPSS 18. Results: The results of this study show that the neonatal death rate in East Java continues to decrease from 2091-2021. The the coverage of iron-folic acid tablet pregnancy was largest in 2019 (92%) and lowest in 2020 (88.5%). Four ANC coverage was the largest in 2019 (91.2%) and the lowest in 2020 (90%). There was no significant correlation between iron-folic acid tablets of pregnant women coverage and cases of neonatal death from LBW in 2019 (p = 0.504; r = -0.112), whereas there was a significant correlation between four ANC coverage and neonatal death cases due to LBW in 2019 (p = 0.001; r = -0.497). Conclusions: The coverage of iron-folic acid tablets was not associated with the incidence of LWB neonatal death but with four ANC coverage. Educating people about the importance of four ANC during pregnancy is essential to prevent neonatal death.

Abstract

Background: One of the dangers of midwifery or pregnancy is the mortality of pregnant women with hypertension. By managing midwifery difficulties and health services for pregnant women, efforts may be made to prevent and manage the mortality of pregnant women with hypertension (K4). The management of midwifery difficulties and prenatal care services (K4) reduced in East Java Province in 2021. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to map out the disease's spread and explain how maternal mortality is related to hypertension and its causes. Methods: In 38 East Javan regions and cities, maternal mortality was examined. In order to assess the secondary data from the East Java Health Profile in 2019–2021, this study used the Pearson correlation test. Furthermore, SPSS applications were used to analyze the data. Results: There was a relationship between maternal mortality with hypertension in 2021 and the coverage of midwifery complications (p = 0.000), as well as between the coverage of prenatal care services (K4) and the death of pregnant women with hypertension in 2021 (p = 0.000). Conclusion: The treatment of midwifery problems and the availability of prenatal care services (K4) were factors in the deaths of pregnant women with hypertension. A program of interventional actions that must be carried out while paying more attention to pregnant women's health, particularly for those with hypertension, was required.

Abstract

Background: The city of Tasikmalaya experienced a significant increase in cases of Dengue in 2020. This was evidenced by the incidence rate of Dengue, which was 229 per 100,000 people, and the Dengue mortality rate of 1.42%. The implementation of Dengue surveillance in the Tasikmalaya City Health Office faced delays in reporting suspects, cases, and Larva-free rates. Tasikmalaya City Health Office needs a surveillance system that can detect cases early to ensure timely reporting. Objectives The aim of this study is to design the development of a recording and reporting system for Dengue surveillance in the Tasikmalaya City Health Office. Methods: This study employed a qualitative research design with an action research approach for system development. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with officers and manager of Dengue surveillance. Secondary data were obtained through document studies on the surveillance forms used. The data analysis was conducted descriptively. The development design of the Dengue surveillance system was created using a Data Flow Diagram. Results: The types of information needed for the development of Dengue surveillance include the number of suspects, cases, and deaths from Dengue Fever on a weekly basis based on person, place, and time; trends in suspects, cases, and deaths from Dengue on a weekly basis; as well as the monthly Larva-free rates. The required data consist of suspect/case data and Dengue death data from weekly reports by primary health centers; a recapitulation of the number of suspects, cases, and Dengue deaths; Larva-free rates; and the population reported monthly by the primary health centers. Conclusions: The Tasikmalaya City Health Office aims to improve Dengue surveillance by implementing weekly data processing and analysis activities, weekly reports from primary health centers, and biweekly meetings. This will improve workflow procedures and monitor the increase in Dengue cases.
