Abstract

Several factors influence nurses' preparedness in handling disaster victims. This study aims to identify the factors associated with nurses' preparedness to manage Central Sulawesi disaster victims. Conducted between April and July 2023, this cross-sectional quantitative study involved 124 nurses from Undata Hospital, Anutapura Hospital, Madani Hospital, Bhayangkara Hospital, and Dr. Sindhu Trisno Hospital, selected through total sampling. Preparedness was measured using the Disaster Preparedness Evaluation Tool (DPET). At the same time, knowledge, attitudes, and experiences in disaster management were assessed with the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Disaster Management (KAP DM) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi-square and linear regression tests. The chi-square results indicated significant relationships between preparedness and knowledge (p=0.004), attitude (p=0.045), length of service (p=0.037), participation in disaster training (p=0.004), and experience in disaster management (p=0.028). At the same time, education level showed no significant relationship (p = 0.075). Linear regression revealed that knowledge had the strongest influence on preparedness. The study concludes that knowledge, attitudes, length of service, disaster training, and disaster management experience are key factors affecting nurses' preparedness. It is recommended that emergency nurses regularly participate in disaster-related training to enhance their ability to provide timely medical assistance, thereby reducing disaster-related mortality.

Abstract

Background: The rise in Covid-19 related deaths has led to the implementation of vaccination. Despite this effort, some of the population remains reluctant to get vaccinated, citing various reasons for their hesitation. The objective of this research was to examine the various factors affecting covid-19 vaccination acceptance. Methods: This study adopted a cross-sectional design and was conducted between October and December 2022. This study looked at various independent variables such as sex, education, occupation, family income, health insurance, social assistance, history of Covid-19 infection, and information from the health worker. The main variable of interest was vaccination acceptance. The research involved a group of 133 people. Research data is collected by sending surveys to participants while adhering to Covid-19 health guidelines. The research data was examined using chi square test and logistic regression. This study received ethical approval from the Ethics Committee at Palu Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health in Indonesia number: 0089/KEPK-KPK/VI/2022. Results: Most of the individuals were involved in favor of accepting the Covid-19 vaccine, with a percentage of 83.5%, whereas only 16.5% declined it. Among the different factors considered, age was found to be the most significant in determining vaccine acceptance compared to having social assistance and information from health workers. Conclusion: Vaccine acceptance varied by age, prioritizing older individuals due to their heightened vulnerability to the Covid-19 virus. It is crucial to further investigate how different factors such as socio-demographic characteristics, vaccine’ knowledge, and trust in the healthcare system interact with each other.

Data were analyzed using the chi square test with a 95% confidence interval. Result and Discussion: The chi-square test results showed that the p value for knowledge was 0.047 (p value < 0.05), and the p value for family support was 0.01 (p value < 0.05). The results of the regression test showed that the significant value for family support (0.001) was smaller than long suffered (0.004) and knowledge (0.031). Abstract

Introduction: Stunting is a serious concern for children globally, including in Indonesia, often caused by ongoing malnutrition problems. There are numerous factors associated with stunting. This research aims to analysed multiple factors related to stunting in toddlers. Methods: This research utilized a case-control approach. The research was conducted in the Marawola District from Juni to August 2024. A group of 128 toddlers were part of the study, with half of them classified as cases and the remaining half as controls. Variables in this research included maternal characteristics (education, occupation), toilet ownership, exclusive breastfeeding practice, complete immunization, and stunting. Data was collected using questionnaires and direct measurements (anthropometry). Data analysis involved univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, as well as multivariate analysis using linear regression with 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: The results from the research were indicated a strong correlation between education (p = 0.038), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.012), and complete immunization (p = 0.008) with the occurrence of stunting. In particular, it was identified that complete immunization has the highest impact on stunting compared to the others variables studied. Conclusion: A significant association was observed between education, exclusive breastfeeding, complete immunization, and the likelihood of stunting in toddlers. It is crucial to introduce targeted interventions that prioritize the provorsion of proper nutrition, education, and enhanced healthcare accessibility to reduce the prevalence of stunting among toddlers.

Abstract

Introduction: The Sigi Regency has long struggled with a high rate of stunting among children in Central Sulawesi. There are multiple factors that play a role in contributing to this issue. Objective: The goal of this study is to examine the various factors that impact stunting in toddlers. Method: To conduct this research, a Case-control study was utilized in the Marawola Health Center Working Area in April and May of 2025. A total of 78 mothers with toddlers participated in the study, providing information through surveys and observations. The data was then analyzed using the Chi Square test with a confidence level of 95%. Result and Discussion: The results revealed that education, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization, and toddler weighing all played a significant role in the prevalence of stunting among toddlers (p value < 0.05). However, factors such as occupation, income, and access to Integrated Health Service Post did not show a significant correlation with stunting (p value > 0.05). Conclusions: It is crucial to take a comprehensive approach to health education, promote exclusive breastfeeding, conduct vaccination campaigns, and regularly monitor the growth of children in order to effectively reduce the prevalence of stunting in young children.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally, with 17.9 million deaths in 2019, of which 85% were caused by stroke and coronary heart disease (CHD). In Indonesia, CHD accounts for 26.4% of all deaths; therefore, controlling risk factors is a priority. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between modifiable risk factors (smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle) and the incidence of CHD. Methods: This analytical study used a cross-sectional design with accidental sampling and was conducted at the Heart Polyclinic of the Undata Hospital, Central Sulawesi, in August 2025. A total of 112 respondents aged ?35 years who sought treatment were included in this study. Data were collected through direct measurements (blood pressure, height, and weight) and questionnaires assessing smoking habits, lifestyle, and medical histories. Ethical approval was obtained from the Health Research Ethics Committee of Poltekkes Kemenkes Palu. Data analysis included univariate, chi-squared (95% CI), and logistic regression tests. Results: Among 112 respondents, 56 (50%) were diagnosed with CHD. There was a significant association between CHD and smoking (p < 0.001), obesity (p = 0.004), hypertension (p = 0.001), and lifestyle habits (p = 0.031). Logistic regression analysis identified smoking as the strongest predictor of CHD (odds ratio [OR] = 16.626; p = 0.009). Conclusion: Smoking, obesity, hypertension, and lifestyle were significant risk factors for CHD, with smoking emerging as the main determinant. Preventive strategies should prioritize smoking cessation, weight control, hypertension management, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
