Abstract

Amid the increasing challenges of globalization and digitalization, environmental awareness is often overlooked. Waste Library, as a community service center, took the initiative to raise this awareness through effective visualization using poster art, with a program led by lecturers from Telkom Purwokerto Institute of Technology. The aim of the program is to develop the graphic design skills of staff and volunteers and improve the effectiveness of their visual communication in conveying environmental messages. The method involved a series of interactive trainings using Canva as the main tool, with ability evaluations conducted through pre-survey and post-survey as well as statistical analysis of participant feedback. The training results showed a significant improvement in graphic design understanding, where 82% of participants showed increased competence; 76% have become more proficient with Canva, and 79% feel more confident in concept visualization. The conclusion of the program is that the graphic design workshop has successfully increased the technical ability and confidence of Waste Library staff and volunteers in using modern graphic design tools, as well as showing how interactive and visual approaches can be effective in educating and raising environmental awareness.ABSTRAKDi tengah tantangan globalisasi dan digitalisasi yang meningkat, kesadaran lingkungan sering kali terabaikan. Limbah Pustaka, sebagai pusat pengabdian masyarakat, berinisiatif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran ini melalui visualisasi yang efektif menggunakan seni poster, dengan program yang dipimpin oleh dosen dari Institut Teknologi Telkom Purwokerto. Tujuan dari program ini adalah untuk mengembangkan kemampuan desain grafis para staf dan relawan serta meningkatkan efektivitas komunikasi visual mereka dalam menyampaikan pesan-pesan lingkungan. Metode yang diterapkan melibatkan serangkaian pelatihan interaktif menggunakan Canva sebagai alat utama, dengan evaluasi kemampuan dilakukan melalui pra-survey dan post-survey serta analisis statistik dari feedback peserta. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman desain grafis, dimana 82% peserta menunjukkan peningkatan kompetensi; 76% menjadi lebih mahir menggunakan Canva, dan 79% merasa lebih percaya diri dalam visualisasi konsep. Kesimpulan dari program ini adalah bahwa workshop desain grafis telah berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan teknis dan kepercayaan diri staf dan relawan Limbah Pustaka dalam menggunakan alat desain grafis modern, serta menunjukkan bagaimana pendekatan interaktif dan visual dapat efektif dalam mengedukasi dan meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang “Urgensi Pembentukan Badan Peradilan Khusus Penyelesaian Perselisihan Pemilihan Gubernur, Bupati, dan Walikota dalam Menghadapi PILKADA serentak tahun 2024” bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan mengenai penyelesaian perselisihan hasil pilkada dalam peraturan perundang-undangan yang berlaku dan Untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan mengenai urgensi pembentukan badan peradilan khusus penyelesaian perselisihan hasil pilkada. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode penelitian hukum normatif dan pelaksanaan dari penelitian ini mengumpulkan bahan hukum dari berbagai sumber guna mendapatkan suatu jawaban atas pokok-pokok permasalahan yang telah dirumuskan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyelesaian perselisihan hasil pilkada di Indonesia adalah berkaitan dengan lembaga yang berwenang menyelesaikan perselisihan hasil pilkada. Pembentukan peradilan khusus pilkada merupakan kebutuhan hukum karena lembaga yang berwenang seperti Mahkamah Konstitusi dan Mahkamah Agung tercatat pernah menolak menyelesaikan perselisihan hasil pilkada. Sehingga keberadaan Lembaga yang khusus menangani sengketa hasil pemilihan kepada daerah menjadi kebutuhan hukum untuk segera direalisasikan dalam menghadapi pilkada serentak tahun 2024. Urgensi pembentukan badan peradilan khusus pilkada dapat dilihat dari dua aspek. Pertama aspek faktor kebutuhan hukum (legal requirements factor), Kedua, faktor kebutuhan kelembagaan (institutional needs factor), yakni urgensi dalam aspek kebutuhan kelembagaan ini erat kaitannya dengan efisiensi dan efektifitas penyelesaian perselisihan hasil pilkada saat ini di Mahkamah Konstitusi, sehingga keberadaan Lembaga penyelesaian perselisihan hasil pilkada sangat urgen untuk segara direalisaikan.

Abstract

Mempertahankan kualitas sebuah brand adalah hal yang mutlak dilakukan oleh perusahaan penyedia barang/jasa. Di era konsumerisme seperti saat ini, peluncuran sebuah produk tidak dapat lagi berdiri sendiri. Sebuah brand tidak akan bertahan lama jika tidak didukung oleh produksi tontonan yang menyertainya. Iklan televisi lebih lanjut berperan sebagai arena komodifikasi, dimana pesan iklan bukan lagi sekadar menawarkan barang dan jasa, melainkan juga menjadi semacam alat untuk menanamkan makna simbolik. Dalam hal ini iklan televisi Coca-Cola menampilkan penanda yang dapat dibaca dengan perspektif semiotika sebagai berikut: Produk global tidak lagi hanya dipandang sebagai komoditas luar yang memiliki sekat, tetapi sudah menjadi bagian dari kebutuhan sehari-hari dalam masyarakat umum dengan makna dan citra yang sesuai dengan karakternya.

Abstract

The cover of Tempo weekly magazine is known to be bold, critical, and sometimes controversial with its hidden meanings that are intentionally inserted (subliminal messages) in all fields (social, political, economic). This study was conducted to analyze the meanings and messages contained in a sample of three covers of Tempo magazine editions of 13, 20 and 27 May 2018 which featured terrorism cases, through three elements of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics, namely ground, object, and interpretant. The methodology used in this research is qualitative interpretative using semiotic analysis method. The results of this study are that the meaning of the sign that appear on the cover are closely related to acts of terrorism, prisoners who take hostage at the Brimob Mako detention house, a small child who is a suspect in a suicide bombing with his family, and students who stabbed Brimob intelligence officers in Kelapa Dua.The conclusion of researcher's interpretation when looking at the cover illustration is to disclosure  a series of terrorist acts in the May 2018.

Abstract

The creation of works of art by artists always involves forming a narrative that they want to convey to the audience. The narrative depends on the artist's interest in the chosen theme and how the theme is articulated through visual elements. Usually, narratives in works of art are realized through metaphorical forms that describe the idea or message to be conveyed. On the other hand, materials in the creation of works of art are often considered as supporting elements that complete the metaphor. This research aims to explore how materials in works of art can form their own narrative, not just as complementary objects. Materials are also entities that contribute to the overall meaning of the work. By analyzing the relationship between material and narrative, this research provides insight into how material can be interpreted as a visual language. Materials have narrative potential, revealing more than their function in the formal structure of the work of art.

Abstract

Penggunaan infografis banyak dilakukan dalam menyajikan informasi dalam bentuk visual, sehingga audiens dapat lebih memahami informasi yang disajikan. Infografis umumnya digunakan pada media poster untuk mempermudah penggambaran informasi. Namun belum banyak buku, khususnya buku untuk anak, yang menyajikan infografis di dalamnya sebagai kombinasi media penyampai pesan. Penelitian ini menjabarkan penggunaan media infografis pada Buku Why? World History Seri Country Greece yang diterbitkan di Indonesia oleh PT. Elex Media Komputindo, sebagai salah satu media penyampaian pesan tentang edukasi sejarah negara Yunani. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kecenderungan konten yang digunakan pada buku tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data kajian pustaka dan dokumentasi objek dalam bentuk foto. Hasil penelitian ini adalah buku Why? Seri Country Greece menggunakan infografis secara konsisten dalam menyampaikan informasi yang kompleks mengenai sejarah Yunani. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penggunaan infografis sebagai kombinasi media komunikasi visual dapat menambah daya tarik untuk menyampaikan informasi edukasi sejarah Yunani.

Abstract

The Indonesian religious-themed horror film industry, as exemplified by Kiblat, Siksa Neraka, and Sijjin, leverages religious symbols to evoke fear and tension, presenting a stark contrast between sacredness and horror. However, this approach has sparked public controversy, with many perceiving it as a desecration of religious sanctity, leading to protests and boycotts that underscore the tension between artistic expression and religious values in Indonesian society. Furthermore, the portrayal of women in these films' posters often reinforces patriarchal stereotypes by depicting them as victims or objects of violence, perpetuating narratives of female subordination and hindering progress toward gender equality. Through Stuart Hall's Representation Theory, this study analyzes the visual and ideological construction of religious symbols and female figures in Indonesian horror film posters, exploring their denotative and connotative meanings to understand the genre's role in shaping social discourse on religion and gender within Indonesia's cultural context.

Abstract

Kaliori Village, located in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, is renowned for its rich arts and culture. Despite its cultural prominence, certain local potentials, such as the Serayu River, remain underdeveloped as tourism assets. This study aims to design a mascot as a branding strategy to enhance the Serayu River's image and promote it as a tourist destination. The method used included consultation, field observation, and collaborative design processes involving local communities and stakeholders. Results show that the "Bebek Bawor" mascot effectively embodies the cultural identity of Banyumas and contributes to increased brand awareness through its application in promotional materials and strategic placements. The conclusion highlights the significance of integrating cultural representation with modern branding techniques to develop sustainable tourism while fostering community participation.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of sculpture as a medium for documenting political, social, and cultural transformations at the Lima Gunung Museum. The sculptures in this museum not only represent visual beauty, but also function as symbolic reflections on socio-political issues. Case studies of works such as Gus Semar Gunung, Cocot Kencono, Cicak vs Buaya, and Sinar Hati Gus Dur present critiques of phenomena such as pluralism, the post-truth era, power conflicts, and cultural acculturation. Through an aesthetic analysis approach based on AA Djelantik's theory, this article shows how sculpture can be a documentation tool that preserves historical narratives visually, conveys universal social criticism, and triggers dialogue with audiences. Documentation through sculpture provides an important contribution to understanding the dynamics of Indonesian society and politics, making art a bridge between aesthetic values ​​and social messages.

Abstract

This study proposes an in-depth analysis approach to the visual resemblance of human facial characters within the context of designing 3D facial characters titled "Sibling Reflection." The analysis method employed involves a visual comparison approach, identifying and analyzing anatomical features and expressions of human facial characters. Principles of facial proportions, eye shapes, noses, mouths, and other anatomical details are explored to establish a reference foundation for the design of 3D facial characters. Guided by the data from the analysis of human facial characters, the subsequent step involves the design of the 3D facial character " Cerminan Bersaudara " using Blender software, with the goal of achieving a high level of visual resemblance. This design process encompasses iterative iterations, in-depth evaluations, and adjustments by design experts and animators. Through the proposed approach, this research aims to generate a 3D facial character design that approaches the level of visual resemblance achieved by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The successful achievement of the expected visual resemblance in the design of the 3D facial character " Cerminan Bersaudara " is expected to have a positive impact on the audience's experience, particularly in the consumption of 3D character-based entertainment content
