Abstract

Marble is a superior natural resource in Tulungagung Regency, which is utilized for various types of crafts and building construction materials. Apart from all its benefits, marble processing also leaves waste that has an impact on the marble industry and the surrounding community. Marble shards, gravel, and powder are residues from marble waste. The purpose of this study is to create products made from marble waste to optimize material supplies. The design of this product can not only meet the demands of the community for environmentally friendly products but will also indirectly impact the sustainability of the marble industry in Tulungagung. By using a qualitative approach, this study uses design development and material exploration methods, all of which aim to make marble waste a raw material for product design. Through the experimental method applied to explore marble waste, its potential has been revealed as a new alternative for raw materials for making products in the marble industry. The exploration process uses marble waste, namely marble shards, gravel, and powder that have been sorted and other supporting materials such as water and white cement, to obtain the ideal formula in terms of strength, aesthetics, and ease of production. Challenges such as inconsistent material textures, varying hardening times also arise during the process, but instead open up opportunities for innovation in design approaches and production techniques. This research attempts to reduce waste while utilizing the unique characteristics of various types and proportions of marble waste. This collaborative effort with local craftsmen has resulted in interior decoration products, adding value to marble waste, strengthening the local economy, and maintaining the sustainability of the marble industry in Tulungagung.

Abstract

Basal Stem Rot (BSR), caused by Ganoderma boninense, is one of the most destructive diseases affecting oil palm plantations in Southeast Asia. Early detection of this disease is crucial to prevent its widespread transmission and to maintain plantation productivity. This study proposes an image classification approach using ensemble learning with three Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures: DenseNet161, ResNet152, and VGG19, to detect BSR-infected oil palm trees through aerial imagery captured by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The dataset used consists of 7,348 annotated images classified into two categories: healthy and unhealthy. Experimental results show that the DenseNet161 model outperformed the others, achieving a validation accuracy of 91.75% and a validation loss of 0.0307. The ensemble CNN approach demonstrated improved classification accuracy and holds significant potential for implementation in automated and precise plant health monitoring systems. This research provides a valuable contribution to AI-based agricultural technology, particularly in disease management for oil palm plantations.

Abstract

Rasio keuangan seperti Return on Assets (ROA) dan Return on Equity (ROE) digunakan sebagai indikator utama profitabilitas.

Abstract

This article delves into the practical strategies employed to engage communities effectively in participatory design, utilizing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology drawing from Scopus and ScienceDirect databases. Analyzing 14 selected articles and incorporating an additional five, we identified explicit statements addressing challenges and strategies while exploring implicit insights into community engagement approaches. Thematic analysis categorized eight challenging areas for designers: community heterogeneity, age groups, gender and priority segments, economic and social factors, physical environment, education and literacy, cultural nuances, and mental/physical health. The insights gained emphasize the importance of adaptable and inclusive approaches for designers involved in participatory design. The review signifies the need for skill development, highlighting flexibility and inclusivity as pivotal factors when choosing approaches.

Abstract

This article investigates the integrated approach of the Simultaneous Importance-Performance Analysis (SIPA) model and the modified Kano model to evaluate and prioritize service attributes for telecommunication companies in Indonesia. The study is based on the demographic profiles and usage patterns of 74 respondents. The results demonstrate that the SIPA and Kano models can provide valuable insights for identifying priority areas and effective strategies for improving service quality. Specifically, the SIPA model helps to compare competitor performance and identify important service attributes. In contrast, the modified Kano model facilitates a dynamic cycle of service attribute evaluation to inform managerial strategies. This article contributes by highlighting the potential of the proposed approach to offer valuable insights to telecommunication companies seeking to enhance their service offerings and remain competitive in a constantly evolving market.

Abstract

Community murals, as participatory public art projects, express local identities and cultural influences within society. Situated in the heart of Yogyakarta, the community mural in Suryatmajan tourist village conveys a visual message about unity in diversity while promoting a multicultural ideology. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the signs on these community murals as visual representations of multiculturalism. Employing Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, this research decodes the signs and layered meanings in four murals placed at the different entrance gates. These murals visually represent four distinct cultural influences, from local to global: Javanese, Chinese, Japanese, and American (popular culture). These cultural influences are identified through images of prominent figures or icons associated with each culture. They generate denotative and connotative meanings for each mural according to its story. As a manifestation of community engagement, the diversity in this mural representation reflects social conditions, cultural history, and residents' preferences. These murals also demonstrate the community's tolerance for cultural differences and foster multiculturalism. By prioritizing the value of harmony (guyub), Suryatmajan tourism kampong emphasizes unity in cultural diversity as a mural narrative. This research concludes that the community mural in tourism kampong is more than simply decoration; it serves as a collective expression, attracts tourists, and fosters multiculturalism within the society.

Abstract

Traditional tableware reflects significant symbolic and aesthetic values that help maintain cultural identity in the era of globalization. However, the shift towards modern products has reduced the role of traditional tableware, leading to a decline in people's understanding of its cultural significance. The study analyzed the literature that highlights the role of traditional tableware in various cultures, focusing on its spiritual, social, and ecological aspects. Using a systematic approach, this study identifies sustainable education and design-based preservation strategies that uphold the symbolic meanings of traditional tableware. Our methods include the analysis of literature and cross-cultural perspectives of different ethnicities. We highlight the importance of integrating traditional tableware into modern education and design to strengthen people's connection to their cultural identity. Our findings suggest that cultural preservation can be enhanced by promoting aesthetics, revitalizing symbolic values, and adopting an ecology-based approach that supports the sustainability of local cultural identity. The study proposes a conceptual framework that guides cultural preservation strategies in the face of the challenges of globalization, offering practical implications for education and product design relevant to modern society.
