Abstract

This experimental study aimed to find out the improving of Context Clues Strategy on Reading Descriptive Text Comprehension. This research was used one group pre-test and post-test design. The reason for conducted this research because students’ tend to used dictionary when they read English text in order to find the meaning of difficult word. However, they may not use dictionary or somes stuff then can help them to understand English text in joining examination. This condition makes students’ difficult to comprehend the English text because they faced different context. So, students should know about reading strategy to increase the reading comprehension without using dictionary or another instrument. One of the appropriate reading strategies to increase the students’ reading comprehension descriptive text ability is context clues. The sample of this research was the seven grade students’ especially class VII/D at SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK. The participants were 34 students. The step of research procedure are conducting pre-test, treatment, post-test and data analysis. The data analysis by using table categories. The data analysis showed there is significant improving of using Context Clues Strategy on reading descriptive text comprehension. The finding also proved that in the pre-test students mean score was only 39.11 and post-test score was improved to 71.11 and standard deviation of pre-test score was only 6.78 and post-test score was 12.08

Abstract

Grammar error is one of the difficulties experienced by students in the writing process. This study conducted in order to investigate the grammatical errors in writing descriptive text made by the students of English Department of FKIP USI. This research aimed to know the grammatical errors that happen in writing class made by students of the second semester. In this study, the writer used Qualitative analysis, while the general pattern or the research design used by the researcher is a case study. This study found that the students make the grammatical error in writing descriptive text. Population taken in second semester of English student department. Purposive sampling is used in taking sample from the population. The researcher uses document papers as the instrument. The finding of this study showed that there are 6 types of grammatical error found namely: tenses, preposition, articles, voices, morphological, and verbs errors; the dominant grammatical error found is tense errors which has total occurrences of 75 (26.31%) specifically the use of past tense; the reason why students‟ made dominant error in using specifically past tense is the students‟ are lack of understanding the linguistic features of descriptive text. Based on the result, it is figured out that the students still have difficulties in applying grammatical structures in writing. In order to avoid the students in making another grammatical error, the researcher has suggested taking out remediation based on each problematic area of grammatical error categories

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the significant effect of using KWL Method in reading skills of grade X of SMA Swasta Al Washliyah 2 Serbelawan. This research used quantitative method approach. Population of this research was grade X with one class which consists of 23 students. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The technique analysis data by using formula. The result of this research was obtained tcount=10,86 > ttable= 1,717 at the significance level ɑ=0.05 and degrees of freedom (df)= 22, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted and implies that the students taught by using KWL Method achieve a better score. It means that there is significant effect of using KWL Method in Reading Skills of Grade X at SMA Swasta Al Washliyah 2 Serbelawan. Because the using KWL Method as a method for learning English to reading ability. KWL Method a variety of features, including a dictation function, which makes it easier for students to learn and understand English as reading skills. The students should from a habit of reading by using KWL method to improve their reading skills

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the application of YouTube videos to improve students' ability to write procedural texts and to determine students' perceptions of the application of YouTube videos. Data was collected by giving pre-test and post-test. The population of this study was 198 people and the research sample was students of class X OTKP SMK Prama Arta Bandar Huluan Private School year 2022/2023. The researcher took 1 class as a sample of class X OTKP SMK Prama Arta Bandar Huluan which consisted of 33 students. The sample was taken using saturated sampling. The results showed that the students' ability to write procedural texts using YouTube videos on the pre-test and post-test differed significantly. The t-test value is greater than the t-table. That is t-value (1.782) > t-table (1.756) and sig. (2-tailed) lower post test scores 0.000 <0.05. This shows that the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It can be concluded that the application of YouTube videos is effective in improving students' ability to write procedural texts. While the average score of students' perceptions of using YouTube videos was 81. This indicated that students gave very positive responses or agreed that YouTubevideos were useful and could improve their ability to write procedural texts

Abstract

This research was aimed at investigating to improve students’ in writing ability using Instagram as media. at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. The problem of the research is Does the use of Instagram as a Media can improve students writing skills in descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar for the academic year 2022/2023 ?. The objective of the research is to find whether the use on Instagram as a Media can improve students’ writing skills in descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar for the academic year 2022/2023. The research was quantitative research. For the data collection, there were pre-test and post-test. The population of this research 360 students’ in research academic year 2022/2023 with of 36 students’ was the sample. The data analysis was at tenth grade students’ stared from scoring pre-test and post-test and finding the different mean of the score. Based on the data analysis, the writer finding pre-test students’ mean score only 60,75 and after the treatment, the writer used to post-test to know students’ improve writing ability score. The result of the test found the average of the pos-test mean score test was 81,03. The teachers may try to take advantage of the use of Instagram as media to be utilized in their classroom activities to conduct an effective and interesting learning atmosphere in the classroom. So the students’ felt comfortable and enjoyed to learn so that gives a good impact on writing English skills

Abstract

The objective of the study is to know whether using instagram caption can improve students writing ability in SMA Swasta Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar. This research used quantitative with true experimental method approach. Population of this research was tenth grade with 6 classes which consists of 200 students and the sample of this research was 30 students in one classes. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The technique of analyzing data by using SPSS version 26.0. The result of research was Tcount(15,310) > Ttable(1,699) at the significance level α = 0,05 with the degrees of freedom (df) = (30-1=29) for each class so the degrees of freedom is 29. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The Instagram caption can help improve students' writing skills because the results of data analysis show that there are significant . The Instagram application using the caption can be used as a media in improving students' writing skills. After being implemented in tenth grade of SMA Swasta Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the influence of the ability in mastering dialogue on students speaking comprehension at SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar in the academic year of 2022/2023. This research was classified as a true-experimental study. It involved 64 students from two class, as the experimental class 32 students and as the control class 32 students. The experimental and control class was students taught using essay test form story Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic. (SPSS 26.0). The result of the research shows that the testing hypothesis of post-test score is 86,56, shows that tcount (0,970) > ttable (2,188) at the significance level a = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (df) = 11. H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it means that the influence of the ability in mastering dialogue is significant on students speaking comprehension at SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar

Abstract

Pelatihan penerapan konsep dasar pedagogik bagi guru SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi profesional dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif, inovatif, dan berbasis teknologi. Pelatihan ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Persiapan dilakukan dengan analisis kebutuhan dan perancangan materi. Pelaksanaan mencakup pemaparan konsep pedagogik, strategi pembelajaran interaktif, serta praktik mengajar melalui simulasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi dan diskusi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang lebih variatif, seperti diskusi kelompok dan pemanfaatan teknologi. Meski masih terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu dan perbedaan tingkat pemahaman peserta, pelatihan ini berdampak positif terhadap profesionalisme guru dan kualitas pembelajaran di SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo
