Abstract

FAD are an environmentally friendly fishing tool that is very effective, because it collects fish around it very quickly to be caught. So far, fishermen in Jayapura City had difficulty finding schools of fish because they don't have FAD. This is because there is no good and correct knowledge regarding making FAD. So training has been carried out on making FAD and increasing understanding for fishermen in Hamadi Village, Jayapura City. The method used is 1). Location Observation, 2). Presentation of FAD material, 3). Focus Group Discussion (DKT). The results obtained are: 1). Making buoys for fishermen who understood before the training was 25%, 75% didn't understand, after the training those who understood 91.67% didn't understand 33.33%. 2) Making anchor ropes before training, 33.33% did not understand, 66.67% did not understand, after training 95.83% understood, 4.17% did not understand. 3) Making attractors; Before the training 16.67% understood, 83.33% did not understand, after the training understood 87.50% did not understand 12.50%. 4) Making sinkers before training which did not understand 95.83%, understood 4.17% after training which understood 100%, did not understand 0%.

Abstract

Parrotfish is the speciesLeptoscarus vaigiensis. Leptoscarus vaigiensisis a species of fish found in Muris Besar Village's waters, and it lives in seagrass meadow areas. This study aims to find parrot fish species abundance and distribution (Leptoscarus vaigiensis) in seagrass environments. Benefits from this research are anticipated to include supporting data and information, particularly for the fisheries industry in this water area, and significant information for preserving seagrass ecosystems as a specialized habitat for parrotfish (Leptoscarus vaigiensis). The Water Visual Census (UVC) is used to assess parrot habitat in the waterways. Direct observation at the research site is used to learn about and gather data about the object under study. Counting stationary points, transects, timed swimming at stationary sites, divers remaining in one location and surveying a specified radius for a certain amount of time are the major categories into which UVC methods fall. The research locations are Waipa Beach, Ugape Cape, Augara Beach, Muris Besar Village, Demta District, Jayapura Regency, Papua. The highest abundance value is at station 1, with an abundance value of 1,300 ind/m, while the lowest is at station 2, with an abundance value of 700 ind/m. Leptoscarus vaigiensis has a species distribution with a morality index value between 0.33 and 0.50. The distribution of parrotfish (Leptoscarus vaigiensis) in seagrass ecosystems is categorized as comparable according to the criteria for distribution patterns. Keywords:DistributionParrotfishMuris Besar VillagerAbundanceSeagrass beds

Abstract

The population of Thunnus albacares yellowfin tuna from the Scombridae family is very abundant in North Papua Waters (WPP 717). This study aims to analyze the parameters of population dynamics based on the long-weight relationship and condition factors on Thunnus albacares in Demta Coastal Waters, Jayapura Regency. Fish data collection uses passive and active fishing methods using gill nets, handlines, and long line fishing through fishing activities by traditional fishermen during April - June 2022. Data analysis uses analysis length-weight relationship and condition factor. The results of this study found that the population structure of yellowfin tuna (T. albaceras) was very diverse in the waters of North Papua, with a negative allometric growth pattern (b < 3), i.e. the growth of body length was faster than weight. The condition factor averaged 1.1302 with a maximum of 1.4718 and a minimum of 0.7028. Where in the gonadal maturity period morphometric adaptation occurs, weight growth becomes faster and body length becomes slower.

Abstract

Abstract

The waters of Yapen Timur in Yapen Islands, Papua are semi-open waters with high potential natural resources. Recent research on chemical and biological parameters more specifically of nutrient concentration and phytoplankton abundance is still very limited. The study aimed to observe the concentration of nutrients (nitrates and phosphates), and their relation with the abundance of phytoplankton in Yapen Timur waters, was conducted on January 5Th to February 5th, 2016. Using explorative method and purposive sampling method, with 15 sampling points. Data analysis using Spectrophotometer at wavelength 545 nm for nitrate and 885 nm, whereas for phytoplankton abundance use APHA equation. Spatial distribution of nitrate, phosphate and phytoplankton abundance using kriging-method equation and Software Ermaper 7.0. Nitrate concentrations were found to be between 0.2 mg - 0.7 mg / l, phosphates ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 mg / l and the abundance of phytoplankton ranged from 49,682 to 139,490 ind / l. The correlation coefficient analysis indicates the relationship between nitrite and phytoplankton of 0.3947, phosphate and phytoplankton of. 0.0068. The concentration of nitrate and phosphate at the observation site indicated that the water quality belongs to the oligotrophic waters, the abundance of phytoplankton is high and there is no blooming in certain species, and the relationship between the nitrate and phosphate concentration is positively correlated with the abundance of phytoplankton at the observation site.
