Abstract

This research analyzes three news items on the Kompas.com site related to the installation of Puan Maharani's billboards installed around the Mount Semeru evacuation using the Appraisal Theory. Appraisal theory is relate about an interpersonal system in linguistics that focuses on negotiating social relations about one's assessment of something. This study used qualitative documentation as research design. For data collection techniques used reading and searching for news techniques, selecting research data news according to the formulation of the problem and research objectives, then conducting a language analysis of news taken from Kompas.com using appraisal which focus on attitude. Then the data are processed to be able to classify appraisal attitude according to the category. So the writer found as many as eight data including the appraisal attitude of the affect category found there were two data. As for appraisal attitude in the judgment category, six data were found. So from the three news reports, a negative assessment was found from the public because they discussed morality and the normality of Puan's billboards at Mount Semeru refuge. Those many thought that Puan wanted to increase her popularity and electability for the 2024 general election by taking advantage of the disaster situation. Abstract

The female characters struggle in The American Heiress is very interesting to be analyzed because the story tells about the sacrifice love which containing of contestation desired multicultural identities. This study is aimed to analyze the struggles of female characters to get symbolic capital which focus on Cora Cash and Charlotte symbolic struggle to be the new Duchess. To support this study, the practice of theory by Pierre Bourdieu is used as a concept of the symbolic struggle which involved to the contestation each character. This study applies qualitative research study. The result of this study is Cora Cash and Charlotte are done the struggle, they have different amount of the capital which Cora is more accomplish all of the capitals than Charlotte. It can be seen by the movement of Cora’s position is different before and after she goes to England. Her first coming to England she is the new comer, she tries to show her strategy until she gets the symbolic capital as the wife of the Duke.

Abstract

This research aims to discover the responses of student in Lamongan folklore character education values. The folklore is the title Panji Laras Liris and Mbok Rondo Barang Danureksa, which was famous as the Lamongan legendries for a banning marriages between men from Lamongan and women from Kediri and prohibition for eating catfish. Most of in several Lamongan part is belief about this folklore. This research employed descriptive qualitative research methods, using data collection technique are observed the student in reader respons after read the folklore, and choose from ten students in C class in 9th at one of the Junior High Schools in Turi. Based on the results from interviews and reader responses, several factors impact the reader's manifestation of social function after reading literary works, including the knowledge of literature, reading experience, and individual attitudes toward daily life to face the milenials era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the politeness strategies used by English Study Program student. The student is first semester in study process. In completing this research, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive method and the theory of Brown and Levinson. From this study, the researcher found four kinds of politeness strategies used by the English Study Program student, those are bald on record, positive politeness, negative politeness and Off-record. The factors influence the politeness strategy used by the main ss are the payoffs and social variables. Furthermore, sociological variables also affect the use of politeness strategies used by students, which are social distance, relative power and rank of imposition.

Abstract

This research analyzes news item on the Kompas.com site related to radicalism and intolerance in education by teacher religion evaluation, to analyze about the news is applied Appraisal Theory that focuses on negotiating social relations about one's assessment of something. This study used qualitative documentation as  research design. For data collection techniques used reading and searching for news techniques, selecting research data news according to the formulation of the problem and research objectives, then conducting a language analysis of news taken from Kompas.com using appraisal. Then the data are processed to be able to classify appraisal attitude according to the category. The result study shows the appraisal include projecting source, attitude, graduation, and heterogloss. Finally, the interpersonal meaning concern in graduation focus which imply force intensifier and focus sharpener.

Abstract

This study aims to knowing the Effectiveness of Teamwork Tournament in teaching student’s speaking. This research used Quantitative method which is Quasi-experimental. The subject of this research was 8th grade at Mts Putra Putri Lamongan. The writer chose 8th A consisted of 17 students as the experimental class and 8th B consisted of 16 students as the control class. The data was gathered throught Pre-test and post-test. The result of this study showed from T-test the value t-table =2.039. Because t-count is greater than t-table (4.126>2.039) at significance level of 0.05. There is significant effectiveness of Teamwork Tournament learning method in teaching students’ speaking. The result of mean score for the experimental class is 84.00. and, the mean score for control class is 79.50 it was concluded that there was difference meanscore between the experimental class taught by using Teamwork Tournament and conventional class in teaching students’ speaking. So, the conclusion of this study, The Teamwork Tournament method in teaching speaking was success categories.

Abstract

Pengajaran yang responsif budaya merupakan suatu metode yang menggunakan perbedaan etnis siswa sebagai sumber motivasi dan sumber belajar guna meningkatkan relevansi dan efektivitas pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran mengenai pendekatan pengajaran yang responsif budaya yang diajukan oleh Geneva Gay, yang melibatkan delapan karakteristik CRT seperti memvalidasi dan menegaskan, komprehensif dan inklusif, multidimensi, memberdayakan, transformatif, emansipatoris, humanistik, normatif, dan etis, serta pendekatan yang diusulkan oleh Ladson-Billings yang meliputi tiga komponen CRP yaitu prestasi akademik, kompetensi budaya, dan aspek sosio-politik. Kegiatan ini berbentuk pelatihan yang membahas strategi-strategi pembelajaran atau pengajaran yang berbasis tanggap budaya, khususnya ditujukan kepada calon guru (mahasiswa PLP FKIP Unisla). Abstract

Salah satu permasalahan yang dialami oleh siswa kelas yakni metode pembelajaran yang disampaikan guru dengan metode ceramah dan dilanjutkan mengerjakan latihan soal. Melalui upaya pendampingan kemampuan menulis dengan menggunakan mind mapping diharapkan pembelajaran lebih menarik, efisien, dan efektif. Hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdi di kelas XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 1 Karangbinangun Lamongan menunjukkan belum pernah menggunakan mind mapping dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pelatihan pendampingan ini bertujuan untuk memperkenal konsep mind mapping pada siswa, sehingga mendukung belajar siswa secara efekti dalam mempelajadi teks ekposisi dalam Bahasa Inggris. Metode yang dilaksanakan yakni melalui tahap survey, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dalam pendampingan ini menunjukkan 85% siswa telah mampu membuat mind mapping sesuai petunjuk dan arahan pengabdi, dan 15% masih belum sepenuhnya memahami konsep dan langkah-langkah pembuatan mind mapping yang menarik. Abstract

This dedication aims to improve the ability of parents in storytelling techniques to their early age children, this form of dedication is an effort to introduce character education and instill moral values ​​in children through storytelling. This training activity is carried out in the form of an interactive workshop between speakers, parents, and teachers at Surya Baru Kindergarten and Melati Early Kindergarten in Plosogeneng district, Plosowahyu Village, Lamongan. The dedication was carried out on August 21, 2024. The methods implemented in this dedication are 1) conducting a survey of the dedication location, 2) analyzing problems, 3) planning a dedication concept, 4) training activities in the form of interactive workshops, 5) monitoring and evaluating dedication activities. The results obtained from this dedication are that parents can apply good storytelling techniques to their children. Thus, it is a step to instill character education in children from an early age which has a long-term impact as human beings who are virtuous. With this dedication, parents gain insight into the importance of fairy tales so that they can play a more active role in children's character education.
