Abstract

The urgency of this research is due to the problems being faced by Indonesia regarding the destruction of nature and the lack of human awareness of the relationship between humans and nature, which is an important factor behind the destruction of nature that is happening today. The author uses eco-ELT theory as an approach that integrates environmental issues into English language learning. The subject of this study is narrative text in the English textbook "English for Nusantara" for junior high school grade 9. This study requires the creation and implementation of an English textbook that employs the Eco-ELT approach and qualitative methods. According to the findings of this study, natural disasters, shelter, animals, and the earth can all be used to depict the environment. The English textbook "English for Nusantara" contains materials relevant to the Eco-ELT program, which is aligned with five types of interventions: material, experiential, cognitive, and emotional, all of which conceptualize the relationship between humans and nature.

Abstract

The development of the era and the development of literary science make novels not only fictional. The novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang by Nuril Basri is written based on the reality that occurs in the real world, so it can be called a biographical novel. Starting from human existence in facing a series of extreme problems that arise in real life, then reproduced by the author into a biographical novel. The purpose of this study is to describe the author’s struggling value in writing the novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang. To reveal these values, the theory on the aspect of struggle values will be utilized. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with Abrams' expressive criticism approach to the sociology of the author. The data collection technique used is documentation study. While the data analysis technique is qualitative data analysis. The results of the study show the values of struggle: persistence, patience, never giving up, and the responsibility of a novelist in conducting research to reproduce true stories into literary works in the biographical novel genre.

Abstract

This research is about the resistance of life characters from political exiles and student activists in 1998 contained in the novels Pulang and Laut Bercerita by Chudori (2012, 2017). The focus of this study is the Foucault (2012) discourse analysis which focuses on resistance characters in fighting the New Order regime. This study aims to examine the patterns of resistance through discursive formations in archeological reading. The steps of analysis are; to mark it based on existing discourse, link the lines of text with the sequence, observed the rupture, interpretation of the meaning. The results of the study show that Chudori's novels have patterns of resistance that cannot be separated from the New Order regime that once ruled Indonesia. This is based on the discursive formation that occurs in the text that describes if the power of the New Order regime is very strong.

Abstract

Desa Banyuurip merupakan daerah pedesaan yang memilik UMKM Desa yang cukup bervariatif dan berPemanfaatan signifikan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji manfaat yang dimainkan media sosial dan E-commerce dalam meningkatkan penjualan produk menengah dan kecil UMKM didesa Banyuurip. Kajian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kontektual dan pelatihan dalam rangka mencapai tujuan belajar dengan cara pendampingan dan pelatihan usaha secara langsung berupa penyampaian materi terlebih dahulu dan dilanjutkan pelaku UMKM mengunggah produk-produk yang dihasilkan oleh para UMKM di Desa Banyuurip. Hasil pengabdian ini adalah adanya pemahaman mitra tentang pemasaran melalui social media diantaranya; mampu membuat toko pada salah satu marketplace dan mempromosikannya melalui social media milik pribadi masing-masing.

Abstract

The lack of vocabulary mastery often becomes an obstacle in writing, whereas vocabulary determines how skilled a person is in language. It is also supported by qualified grammatical skills so that the writing is directed and by existing rules, producing readable and coherent writing content. This study aims to describe pupils' essay writing skills and the link between grammar competence and vocabulary mastery. The study is ex post facto. The sample in this study is 104. The research data were obtained through three instruments: an essay text, a grammar mastery test, and a vocabulary mastery test. The data analysis technique used is product-moment correlation and multiple regression. Mastery of vocabulary and grammar together has a considerable impact on English Education students' essay writing skills; grammar competence considerably impacts English Education students' essay writing abilities; and vocabulary knowledge substantially impacts English Education students' essay writing abilities. It implies that mastery of vocabulary and grammar significantly impacts students' essay-writing abilities at Universitas Islam Lamongan.
