Abstract

This service aims to increase students' knowledge and skills in writing descriptive paragraphs by using AI in the learning process. The implementation of the service involved 30 students in English lessons by combining several methods, namely lecture, demonstration, simulation, and discussion methods including preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The descriptive paragraph writing results of the students before and after the training on the use of Quillbot were evaluated, and with the use of Quillbot, their writing showed improvement in expressing ideas and developing paragraphs logically and systematically, quality in grammatical aspects, and more structured. Questionnaires filled out by participants during the implementation of the activity showed that many students had not utilized Artificial Intelligence so far in any case, especially related to learning activities. Through this training, students have the ability and knowledge from experience in using AI in writing descriptive paragraphs.

Abstract

This research focused on developing a teaching guidebook for the Speaking for Daily Activities course based on the Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories System (FIACS). The guidebook was designed to provide practical teaching mechanisms that helped speaking lecturers monitor and reflect on classroom interactions, addressing the absence of a reliable reflection tool in guidebook form. FIACS categorized classroom interaction into three types: Teacher Talk (TT), Student Talk (ST), and silence or confusion. The research employed the ADDIE model, consisting of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate stages, to develop a FIACS-based teaching guidebook for the Speaking for Daily Activities course. The study was conducted in the English study program and involved speaking lecturers as the participants. The guidebook was designed to assist lecturers in monitoring and reflecting on classroom interaction patterns through observation sheets, coding procedures, scoring systems, and reflection guidelines. The implementation and evaluation results indicated that the guidebook functioned effectively as a structured reflection tool, although revisions were needed to provide a more detailed interaction-frequency matrix. Overall, the FIACS-based guidebook proved useful in measuring and balancing Teacher Talk (TT), Student Talk (ST), and silence in speaking classrooms.

Abstract

Creativity plays a crucial role in innovation, problem-solving, and both individual and societal advancement, enabling individuals to generate novel ideas, develop effective solutions, and approach challenges with adaptability. The SCAMPER technique is used to foster creative and innovative thinking, providing a structured method for idea generation and refinement. SCAMPER encompasses seven creative strategies: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to Another Use, Eliminate, and Reverse. This study examines students' perceptions of SCAMPER in developing creative writing skills within English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes. A qualitative case study method was employed, involving second-semester students from the Informatics Engineering Study Program enrolled in Intermediate English courses. Data collection methods included semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, providing insights into students’ experiences with SCAMPER in writing procedural texts. The findings reveal that the SCAMPER technique enhances creativity, cognitive flexibility, and innovation in writing, enabling students to produce varied and explorative texts. Furthermore, the approach supports critical thinking and deeper idea exploration. Although some students struggled with adapting to the creative thinking process, the overall response to SCAMPER was positive, highlighting its potential as an effective tool in ESP learning environments.

Abstract

The increasing volume of household waste has occurred in parallel with population growth and rising household activities. Limited public knowledge regarding household waste management has resulted in waste being disposed of without further processing, leading to environmental pollution. At the same time, the intensive use of chemical fertilizers has contributed to declining soil fertility and increased production costs for smallholder farmers due to rising prices of non-subsidized fertilizers. This community service program aimed to empower the Sumber Tani Farmer Group in Arjasa Village, Jember Regency, through training on the production of eco-enzymes from household organic waste as a strategy to improve soil fertility and enhance farm cost efficiency. The program was implemented using a participatory approach (learning by doing), consisting of three main stages: preparation and coordination, implementation (counseling, demonstrations, and hands-on practice), and evaluation. Conducted from August to October 2025, the activity involved 30 members of the farmer group. The results demonstrated an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in processing organic waste into eco-enzymes and applying them to agricultural land. Overall, the program successfully promoted farmer self-reliance in the provision of liquid organic fertilizers, reduced dependence on chemical inputs, and supported the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural systems.ABSTRAKPeningkatan volume limbah rumah tangga terjadi seiring peningkatan populasi dan aktivitas rumah tangga.
