Abstract

Biovina MSME products received directions from BPOM to re-test products that will be registered with BPOM. It was only after Biovina repaired the raw materials used that were drier and only re-tested because the previous materials were too old so that the results did not meet the requirements (not standardized). Because of this situation, Inventors always help MSMEs in meeting their needs so that they can still be worthy of CPOTB. Assistance is carried out so that problems can be overcome. The purpose of this program is to improve the process of providing quality raw materials with BPOM standards with a good drying process. Good products from standardized raw materials by improving and offering new products in the form of capsules and dryers that are fast and feasible according to BPOM standards. The specific target and purpose of this assistance is the process of making a large Biovina dryer power source and the electricity often goes out so that the raw materials are not good. Through this assistance, electricity from solar power is made with a size of 2x1 meters so that it can reduce electricity expenditure every day so that drying and the quality of raw materials and products increase and improve. A stable power source certainly improves the drying and processing process according to BPOM standards and the form of products in capsules registered and certified at BPOM and ready to use which are marketed online or on the website. The implementation methods that will be applied to this program are counseling, training, mentoring and evaluation of the aspects that cause the problems of the SMEs. The outputs of this program include Biovina products in the form of capsules that have been packaged in bottles and boxes that have been registered with BPOM and the results of the activity are published through Sinta 5 accredited journals.  Keywords: Solar Energy;  Drying; Quality Improvement; Product; Biovina. Abstract

The haematological effects of dried Gedi (Abelmoschus manihot L. Medik.) leaf infusion during the postpartum period remain unclear. This study evaluated its effect on the haematological profile of postpartum female Wistar rats. Six female Wistar rats were assigned to a control group or a dried Gedi infusion group (n = 3 each). The infusion was prepared from 2 g of dried leaf powder in 200 mL of boiled water and administered ad libitum for 34 days. Blood samples were collected 14 days postpartum and analysed for WBC, RBC, HGB, HCT, PLT, MCV, MCH, and MCHC. No significant differences were observed between groups for any haematological parameter (all p > 0.05). These findings indicate that dried Gedi leaf infusion did not produce detectable adverse changes in the haematological profile of postpartum female Wistar rats under the conditions of this study.

Abstract. Pandiangan D, Silalahi M, Dapas F, Kandou F. 2019. Diversity of medicinal plants and their uses by the Sanger tribe of Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 621-631. The Sanger tribe is an indigenous tribe in Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi, who still continue to use traditional medicinal plants. The objectives of this study were to document the diversity of medicinal plants and their general uses by the Sanger tribe in the selected villages of Sangihe Islands and to identify plants that have anti-cancer potential. The study was conducted with ethnobotanical approach using survey and interviews among 90 respondents selected from 9 study villages located in 3 sub-districts of Sangihe Islands. The study showed that 118 species of medicinal plants belonging to 47 families had been used by the Sanger tribe to treat 39 different types of diseases. Thirteen (13) species each were used for treating fever and ulcers, 12 species in the treatment of poisoning, 10 species each for cough and kidney diseases, 8 species for each of the diabetes mellitus and cancer or tumors, and 7 species each for itching, hypertension, physical injury and blood circulation disorders. For other diseases, the number of plant species used as medicines varied from 1 to 6. Leaves were the most predominantly used part for medicinal purposes as this was used in case of 73 species, followed by stems (37 species), roots (29 species), flowers (25 species), fruits (20 species) and seeds (17 species). Twenty percent (20% of the recorded medicinal plants were consumed directly and others after different methods of processing and preparation, such as boiling (51%), crushing (15%), roasting (2%), soaking (16%) and pasting (7%), and a species can be used more once. A utilization of Dischidia nythesiana as medicines for cancer/tumor by the Sanger tribe has not been reported before.

Abstract

Abstract. Silalahi M, Nisyawati, Pandiangan D. 2019. Medicinal plants used by the Batak Toba Tribe in Peadundung Village, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 20: 510-525. Research of the medicinal plants by the Toba Batak ethnic has limited, even though the globalization and modernization resulted to degradation of the local knowledge. The objectives of this study were (i) documentation of medicinal plants used in the traditional therapies by the Batak Toba tribe of Peadundung Village, North Sumatra, Indonesia, and (ii) analysing the data by quantitative ethnobotanical tools such as use value (UV), cultural significance index (CSI), relative frequency of citation (RCF) and informant consensus factor (ICF) to determine the cultural importance of medicinal plants in order to develop a tool for their conservation. Semi-structured interviews with 41 identified respondents was the methodology employed for qualitative data collection. A total of 149 medicinal species of plants, belonging to 131 genera and 55 families, were recorded in the study which are used in the treatment of 21 categories of ailments. Plants with the highest UV were Eurycoma longifolia (UV=3.44), Curcuma longa (UV=2.67) and Zingiber officinale (UV=2.60). Eight species, namely Curcuma longa, Eurycoma longifolia, Allium cepa, Psidium guajava, Aleurites moluccanus, Piper betle, Citrus hystrix and Uncaria gambir were found to be having the highest RCF value of 1.00. Eurycoma longifolia (CSI=126), Curcuma longa (CSI=112) and Zingiber officinale (CSI = 105) emerged as the culturally most significant medicinal plants. Thrush and aphrodisiac use categories received the highest ICF of 1.00 each because the informants agreed of using only a single species for each of these categories. Eurycoma longifolia was used as an aphrodisiac whereas Averrhoa carambola was used against thrush. All these important and significant plants suffer the greatest harvesting pressure, hence their conservation should be given priority.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The corelation cell specialization with IAA (indole acetic acid) content  of Catharanthus roseus cell culture by the addition of tryptophan has been done. This research is part of a strategy to increased the catharanthine content. One strategy used is the addition of tryptophan as a precursor treatment. IAA was other compound of the effect of the addition of tryptophan. Research was conducted in the laboratory using MS medium with tryptophan 50-250 mg/L. The cell morphology observations made by Halogen Nikon microscope and documented with a digital camera Nikon DXM 1200F. The results showed that cell morphology is essentially the same for each treatment. The differences seen is the presence of more the long cells in the treatment of tryptophan. The longest ratio is the treatment of 150 mg/L tryptophan at day 14 of culture. Changes in cell morphology relationship more long (run specialization) has something to do with the IAA content after treatment tryptophan. The highest IAA content equal 214,79±0,90  µg/g dw  was occurred at day 14th after being treated tryptophan 150 mg/L with 75% long cells or cells specialization. The relationship between the content of IAA specialized cells showed a positive correlation of 0.80 or 80% of each other. Key words: Cell specialization, IAA content, catharanthine, tryptophan, Catharanthus roseus ABSTRAK   Hubungan antara spesialisasi sel dengan kandungan IAA (asam indol asetat) kultur sel Catharanthus roseus dengan perlakuan triptofan telah dilakukan.
