Abstract

Nutrient solution is an important factor for the growth and quality of hydroponic plants; however, the price is getting more expensive. Seaweed is abundantly available along tropical coast. The study was conducted to determine the best combination of extract of brown seaweed (Sargassum sp.) combined with coconut husk, lamtoro leaves, moringa leaves or African leaves that fit to the nutritional quality of AB mix as hydroponic nutrition for mustard plants. This research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Lampung. The design used was a completely randomized design with six replications. The treatments consisted of six types of treatment, namely AB mix nutrition, brown seaweed, seaweed and lamtoro leaf, seaweed and coconut fiber, seaweed and moringa leaf, seaweed and African leaf. Results showed that the organic nutrient solution extracting from the mixture of brown seaweed with lamtoro leaf or coconut fiber or moringa leaf or African leaf has not been able to fit the quality of AB mix nutrition for mustard plants in the hydroponic wick system. However, among those treatments, the best fresh weight of mustard was found on the treatment of the combination between brown seaweed and lamtoro leaf which was 51.08% from total fresh weight from control AB mix.

Abstract

Agro-industrial waste such as banana weevil, pineapple rhizome, and empty fruit bunches of oil palm has not been utilized properly, even though the waste can be processed into liquid organic fertilizer after extracting the beneficial microorganisms contained in it. This research aimed to observe and study soil organisms’ activity after applying plant extract suspensions and compost types. The research was conducted at the Integrated Field Laboratory and Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The treatments were designed in a 3 × 3 factorial design in a Randomized Block Design with three replications. The first factor was the plant suspension extracts derived from banana weevil, pineapple rhizome, and oil palm empty fruit bunches, while the second factor was the compost in the form of solid compost and liquid compost. The results showed the activity of soil organisms in the form of respiration, soil microbial carbon biomass, soil microbial population, and mesofauna population, which was applied to a suspension of plant extracts from pineapple rhizome, given the highest yield. Furthermore, the bacterial phosphate dissolution index and the diversity of soil mesofauna applied to liquid compost were higher than those of solid compost or without compost. There was no interaction between the application of plant extract suspension and the compost types on the soil organism’s activity.

Abstract

AbstractPinching and dormancy breaking chemicals (DBC) application are potentially used to regulate the growth of plant. This study aims to evaluate the growth response of ‘Crystal’ guava (Psidium guajava L.) seedling in response to pinching and DBC application. This experiment was carried out in the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Lampung from March to June 2021, with a randomized completely block design (RCBD) with 2 factors (pinching and DBC) and repeated four times. The results showed that pinching could reduce the increase of height of guava seedling. The combination of pinching with DBC could significantly increase the number of new emerging leaves, branches, and shoots as well as the length of new shoots. The leaf area on new emerging leaves was not affected by pinching and DBC factors. The application of DBC to non-pinched plants inhibited vegetative growth and precisely increased generative growth, as indicated by the increase of the number of flowers produced. The most recommended treatment to improve the vegetative growth of guava plant seedlings was a combination of pinching and KNO3 40 g L-1.Keywords: 'Crystal' guava, KNO3, vegetative growth, pinching, dormancy breaking chemicals. AbstrakPinching dan pemberian zat pemecah dormansi berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai pengatur pertumbuhan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevalusi respon pertumbuhan bibit tanaman jambu biji (Psidium guajava L.) 'Kristal' terhadap perlakuan pinching dan pemberian zat pemecah dormansi (ZPD). Percobaan ini dilaksanakan di lahan Laboratorium Lapang Terpadu, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Lampung dari bulan Maret hingga Juni 2021, dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial (pinching dan ZPD) yang diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa teknik pinching dapat menurunkan pertambahan tinggi tanaman jambu. Namun hal ini justru dapat memperbaiki pertumbuhan bibit jambu. Kombinasi pinching dengan ZPD dapat meningkatkan jumlah daun, cabang, dan tunas baru serta panjang tunas baru secara signifikan. Luas daun baru tanaman jambu tidak dipengaruhi oleh faktor pinching dan ZPD. Pemberian ZPD pada tanaman yang tidak dipinching menghambat pertumbuhan vegetatif, sebaliknya meningkatkan pertumbuhaan generatif dengan indikator peningkatan jumlah bunga yang diproduksi. Perlakuan yang paling direkomendasikan untuk memperbaiki pertumbuhan vegetatif bibit tanaman jambu adalah kombinasi antara pinching dan KNO3 40 g L-1.Kata kunci: jambu biji ‘Kristal’, KNO3, pertumbuhan vegetatif, pinching, zat pemecah dormansi

Abstract

AbstrakNutrisi organik untuk budidaya sistem sumbu hidroponik merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi kendala mahalnya harga pupuk anorganik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode ekstraksi terbaik antara metode air hangat, air dingin, dan fermentasi kemudian menentukan waktu fermentasi terbaik dari unsur hara organik campuran rumput laut, sabut kelapa dan daun kelor yang diharapkan memiliki kandungan nutrisi organik yang mendekati dengan formula nutrisi anorganik. Penelitian ini terdiri atas 2 percobaan: (i) percobaan pertama meneliti jenis metode ekstraksi, dan (ii) percobaan kedua meneliti waktu fermentasi terbaik. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan faktor tunggal dan diulang sebanyak 6 kali. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa unsur hara organik yang dicampur dengan rumput laut, sabut kelapa dan daun kelor belum mampu menyamai unsur hara campuran AB Mix pada budidaya tanaman sawi secara hidroponik. Bobot segar tanaman sawi pada sub percobaan metode ekstraksi menunjukkan bahwa metode fermentasi menghasilkan 11,28 g atau 52,22% dari bobot segar tanaman hasil perlakuan nutrisi AB Mix yang mencapai 21,60 g. Bobot segar tanaman sawi pada sub percobaan waktu fermentasi menunjukkan bahwa fermentasi 20 hari menghasilkan 1,83 g atau 50,8% dari bobot segar tanaman hasil perlakuan hara AB Mix yang mencapai 3,60 g. Waktu fermentasi terbaik diperoleh pada 20 hari fermentasi.Kata Kunci: anorganik, bahan segar, metode ekstraksi, waktu fermentasi Abstract Organic nutrition for the wick hydroponic system is an alternative solution to overcome the high cost of inorganic fertilizers. This study aims to determine the best extraction method between warm water, cold water, and fermentation, then determine the best fermentation time from the organic nutrient mixture of seaweed, coconut husk and Moringa leaves which are expected to have the same organic nutrient content as the inorganic nutrition formula. This study consisted of 2 experiments, the first experiment examined the type of extraction method and the second experiment examined the best fermentation time. The experimental design used was a randomized block design (RBD) with a single factor and was repeated 6 times. The results of this study indicate that the organic nutrients mixed with seaweed, coconut husk and Moringa leaves have not been able to equal to the AB-mix nutrients in hydroponic mustard cultivation. Fresh weight of mustard in the extraction method sub-experiment showed that the fermentation method was only able to produce 11.28 g or 52.22% of the fresh weight of plants produced by AB Mix nutrition which reached 21.60 g. Fresh weight of mustard plants in the sub-experiment of fermentation time showed that 20 days of fermentation was only able to produce 1.83 g or 50.8% of the fresh weight of plants treated with AB Mix nutrients which reached 3.60 g. The best fermentation time was obtained at 20 fermentation days.Keywords:  inorganic, fresh weight, extraction method, fermentation time

Abstract

Pemupukan nitrogen sangat dibutuhkan khususnya pada tanaman sayuran daun.  Pupuk sumber nitrogen yang sering digunakan para petani adalah urea. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis terbaik pupuk urea terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman kailan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Rumah Kaca dan di Laboratorium Lapang Terpadu, Fakultas Pertanian ,Universitas Lampung.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Oktober 2018-Januari 2019.  Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 5 perlakuan tunggal dosis urea.  Dosis urea (u) yang digunakan adalah tanpa urea (u0), 150 kg/ha (u1), 300 kg/ha (u2), 450 kg/ha (u3), dan 600 kg/ha (u4).  Setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 4 kali sehingga terdapat 20 petak satuan percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian urea memberikan pengaruh nyata dalam meningkatkan lebar daun, lebar tajuk, bobot basah tanaman, dan bobot kering tanaman.  Dosis urea 300 kg/ha (u2) menunjukkan hasil yang paling tinggi dalam meningkatkan lebar daun, lebar tajuk, bobot segar tanaman, dan bobot kering tajuk tanaman dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya.

Abstract

Salah satu nutrisi hidroponik populer adalah nutrisi AB mix, tapi harganya semakin mahal, sehingga diperlukan alternatif nutrisi organik berupa ekstrak daun lamtoro yang murah, mudah didapat, dan kaya nutrisi untuk tanaman sawi yang ditanam secara hidroponik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh konsentrasi ekstrak daun lamtoro yang tepat sebagai substitusi nutrisi AB mix pada tanaman sawi yang ditanam secara hidroponik NFT. Penelitian dilakukan dari Januari sampai dengan Februari 2023 di Kebun Lapang, Kota Sepang Jaya, Bandar Lampung. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 faktor tunggal jenis larutan nutrisi berupa P1 = 100% AB mix (Kontrol), P2 = 75% AB mix + 25% ekstrak daun lamtoro, P3 = 50% AB Mix  + 50% ekstrak daun lamtoro, dan P4 = 100% ekstrak daun lamtoro. Data dianalisis dengan analisis varians (ANOVA), dan pemisahan perbedaan rata-rata Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nutrisi AB mix masih menjadi nutrisi yang terbaik dalam menunjang pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman sawi dibandingkan ekstrak daun lamtoro terhadap bobot segar tajuk, luas daun, indeks panen, bobot kering daun, bobot segar akar dan jumlah akar.

Abstract

Tanaman pakcoy banyak diminati karena serat dan vitamin yang dikandungnya baik untuk kesehatan, mudah dibudidayakan dan memberikan prospek bisnis yang cerah bagi petani. Upaya yang dapat diterapkan dalam meningkatkan produksi pakcoy adalah dengan memberikan tambahan nutrisi melalui pengaplikasian pupuk organik cair dari air cucian beras dan meningkatkan kesuburan media tanam dengan penambahan pupuk kandang ayam dan arang sekam padi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan media tanam dan pengaplikasian poc cucian beras terhadap pertumbuhan produksi tanaman pakcoy. Penelitian ini dirancang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang menggunakan dua faktor dan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah pembuatan media tanam yang terdiri dari tanah (T0), tanah dan arang sekam (T1), tanah dan pupuk kandang ayam (T2). Faktor kedua adalah pemberian konsentrasi air beras yang terdiri dari 0% POC cucian beras (A0), 25% POC cucian beras (A1), 50% POC cucian beras (A2), 75% POC cucian beras (A3), 100% POC cucian beras (A4). Data yang diperoleh dinalisis melalui uji homogenitas ragam menggunakan uji Barlett dan aditivitas data diuji dengan uji Tukey. Data dianalisis dengan analisis ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT 5%. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi perlakuan antara kombinasi media tanam dan pemberian konsentrasi POC dapat meningkatkan hasil produksi tanaman pakcoy. Kombinasi media tanam tanah dan pupuk kandang ayam (T2) dan konsentrasi POC 25% menunjukkan hasil terbaik pada seluruh variabel pengamatan

Abstract

Carrots (Daucus carota) are quite popular vegetables because they have a lot of nutritional content that is very good for health. To produce good quality carrots, it is necessary to carry out good pre-harvest and post-harvest activities, so that the nutritional content of carrots can be maintained properly. However, it should be noted that many pre-harvest and post-harvest activities are not right, resulting in poor quality carrots. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to find out the right pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest activities to maintain the quality of carrots. This review is sourced from various journals, books and relevant articles. Pre-harvest activities that need to be considered include providing the right nutrition, determining the time of harvest and good harvest handling activities. Proper post-harvest activities can produce long shelf life and maintain the nutritional content of carrots. Regular consumption of carrots can maintain body health because the nutritional content of carrots is good for the body.  Keywords: fertilization, storage, shelf life, health, production
