Abstract

Abstract

Kutawaru Village is a coastal village in Cilacap Regency with significant potential for local food innovation based on mangrove resources. The Kutawaru Independent Community Group (MAMAKU) had not previously utilized mangrove fruits, particularly Rhizophora mucronata, as food products. This community empowerment program was conducted through socialization and hands-on training on processing mangrove fruits into flour and derivative products such as cookies. The program applied an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, focusing on local natural assets in the form of Rhizophora mucronata mangrove vegetation surrounding the partner area. The results showed an increase in community empowerment, reflected in improved knowledge and practical skills in mangrove fruit processing. Participants’ understanding increased from 38.5% with no understanding, 53.8% with limited understanding, and 7.7%  with sufficient understanding to 100% of participants being able to understand and independently practice mangrove fruit processing.

Abstract

Bending testing is a method used to evaluate the quality of welded joints; however, the limited availability of Universal Testing Machines (UTMs) can hinder testing and educational activities. This study aims to evaluate the performance of a simple bending test apparatus based on its ability to generate loading data, measurement result consistency, responsiveness to welding parameter variations, and preliminary alignment with data from previous studies. The tests utilized low-carbon steel specimens (6 mm thick) welded via the SMAW method using 3.2 mm diameter E7016 electrodes at current settings of 110 A and 120 A. Testing employed face-bending and root-bending configurations, with four specimens tested for each. Maximum loads were recorded using a load cell integrated with an HX711 module and Arduino, and subsequently used to calculate bending stress. Analysis was based on mean values, standard deviation, the coefficient of variation (CV), and visual inspection for cracks in the Heat-Affected Zone (HAZ). Results indicated bending stresses ranging from 553.8 to 794.7 MPa. Mean face-bending stress increased from 599.70 MPa at 110 A to 729.45 MPa at 120 A, while mean root-bending stress rose from 632.73 MPa to 740.63 MPa. CV values ranged from 2.45% to 10.86%. Comparisons with previous research revealed deviations of 50.17% at 110 A and 43.72% at 120 A. The findings demonstrate that the apparatus is capable of generating quantitative data and capturing changes in bending response; however, direct validation against a standard UTM is still required to determine measurement accuracy.

Abstract

Agricultural mechanization is a key strategy for boosting rice cultivation productivity while addressing labor shortages in the agricultural sector. However, most rice transplanters used in Indonesia are imported products that do not fully align with local paddy field characteristics and entail relatively high investment costs. This study aims to analyze the design process of a rice transplanter tailored for the jajar legowo planting system, utilizing the VDI 2222 method and SolidWorks-based 3D modeling. The analysis covered user requirements, design concept selection, machine dimensions, seedling tray configuration, the *jajar legowo* planting system, and material selection. The results indicate that the optimal design concept features a six-row planting configuration with a frame size of 1085 mm × 1472.6 mm, six seedling trays measuring 218 mm × 600 mm, and a material combination of galvanized steel and stainless steel—balancing structural strength, corrosion resistance, ease of manufacturing, and cost-efficiency. Implementing the jajar legowo system with a planting distance of approximately 20 cm is considered conducive to planting efficiency and compatible with rice cultivation practices in Indonesia. Overall, the design process yielded a rice transplanter model with the potential to be developed into a functional prototype, serving as a more economical local alternative that meets the specific needs of Indonesian farmers.

Abstract

The ever-increasing demand for electrical energy drives the utilization of renewable energy as a sustainable alternative source. Wind energy is one such potential renewable energy source. As a region situated on the southern coast of Java, Cilacap Regency possesses relatively stable wind characteristics, making it a promising location for the development of wind power plants. This study aims to analyze the wind energy potential in the Cilacap region using the Weibull distribution. The Weibull method was employed to determine the shape parameter (k) and scale parameter (c) based on wind speed data. The analysis results indicate an average wind speed of 6.225 m/s in the Cilacap region especially Teluk Penyu Beach, with Weibull parameters of k = 2.972 and c = 6.973 m/s. These values reflect wind characteristics that are relatively stable and favorable for the development of small- to medium-scale wind power plants. The calculated wind power density (WPD) indicates that the coastal area of Cilacap is suitable for harnessing wind energy as an alternative energy source.

Abstract

Semi-automatic water purification machines are urgently needed by the people around the Sitopong river, Cilacap Regency. Required application and testing of the YF-S201 type water flow sensor based on Arduino Uno. This is done so that the application of the water speed sensor in the river water purification machine can be maximized. The research method used is a literature study related to Arduino Uno and conducting experiments. The experiments were carried out in the form of testing the water flow velocity sensor, carrying out the process of calibrating the water flow sensor. Sensor testing was carried out 10 times after calibration. Based on the calibration results, an average volume of 329 ml was obtained from the desired volume of 330 ml so that an error of 0.3% was obtained. Whereas at the desired volume of 600 ml, the average volume of the calibration results is 598 ml, it can be seen that an error of 0.3% is obtained at a volume of 600 ml. Function test on the water filling process with 10 trials obtained an accuracy of 99.6% for a 330 ml volume bottle and 99.6 ml for a 600 ml volume bottle.
