Abstract

This study aims to reveal some of the rights of children in public spaces by creating child-friendly public spaces after the description of children's rights in public spaces. Public space in urban areas has been transformed into a space for activities for urban communities such as the people of Tanjungpinang City. This study also reveals the variety of children's activities in the park, both with family and friends. This study also describes children's rights in their activities in public spaces by analyzing them with the eyes of a sociological study derived from various regulations regarding Child-Friendly Cities. This study uses a qualitative research method, where In obtained the informants through accidental sampling technique. The results of this study are expected to contribute ideas in dealing with urban problems in Tanjungpinang. They can also be an inspiration for families to be active in child-friendly public spaces. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap beberapa hak anak di ruang publik dengan menciptakan ruang publik yang ramah anak setelah penjabaran hak anak di ruang publik. Ruang publik di kawasan perkotaan telah menjelma menjadi ruang aktivitas bagi masyarakat perkotaan seperti masyarakat Kota Tanjungpinang. Studi ini juga mengungkap ragam aktivitas anak-anak di taman, baik bersama keluarga maupun teman. Kajian ini juga memaparkan hak-hak anak dalam beraktivitas di ruang publik dengan menganalisisnya dengan kacamata kajian sosiologis yang bersumber dari berbagai regulasi tentang Kota Layak Anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, dimana In memperoleh informan melalui teknik accidental sampling. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangsih pemikiran dalam menghadapi permasalahan perkotaan di Tanjungpinang. Mereka juga bisa menjadi inspirasi bagi keluarga untuk aktif di ruang publik ramah anak.

Abstract

The tension between persistent cultural traditions and the relentless onset of global modernity represents a fundamental challenge for contemporary social structures. This research addresses the problem of structural fragmentation and “cultural lag” in traditional societies as they navigate the pressures of rapid urbanization and digital connectivity. The study aims to evaluate the mechanisms of social adaptation and the renegotiation of kinship authority within transitioning communities. Utilizing a multi-sited ethnographic methodology, the research integrated participant observation and semi-structured interviews across rural ancestral homelands and urban migrant settlements. Results demonstrate that traditional social structures are undergoing a process of “re-functionalization” rather than simple erosion, with a 66% surge in digital kinship maintenance serving as a vital bridge for trans-local sociality. Findings indicate that while physical households are nuclearizing, traditional authority persists through the hybridization of meritocratic status and hereditary lineage. This research concludes that social adaptation is a proactive negotiation where tradition functions as a strategic resource for navigating modern precarity. The study provides a scalable blueprint for “culturally-embedded” policy design, asserting that the future of social resilience lies in the successful synthesis of inherited ontological security and modern technological tools.

Abstract

Digital technologies have profoundly reshaped contemporary social life, altering patterns of interaction, identity formation, and cultural transmission across societies. From an anthropological perspective, these transformations cannot be understood solely through technical or economic explanations, but require attention to meaning, practice, and power embedded in everyday digital engagement. This study aims to analyze social transformation in the digital age by examining how technology functions as a culturally embedded social environment that mediates relationships, values, and symbolic expression. The research employs a qualitative design grounded in interpretive anthropology, combining digital ethnography, semi structured interviews, and analysis of online cultural artifacts to capture lived experiences within hybrid online offline spaces. The findings reveal that digital platforms reconfigure social organization, redistribute cultural authority, and intensify reflexive identity practices while simultaneously sustaining elements of cultural continuity. Digital interaction emerges as a site of negotiation where tradition and innovation intersect rather than as a force of unilateral disruption. The study concludes that social transformation in the digital age is best understood as a dynamic and context dependent process shaped by human agency and cultural interpretation. These results highlight the continued relevance of anthropological approaches for interpreting technological change and offer insights for research on digital society.
