Abstract

The world pandemic of COVID-19 which caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a very infectious and contagious. Lopinavir and ritonavir is recommended based on guidelines from National Health Commission of China as an antiviral therapy for COVID-19. Both lopinavir and ritonavir inhibit the 3CLpro enzyme’s action, which its role in replication also release of viruses. As protease inhibitor in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), both lopinavir and ritonavir’s target is a symmetrical bag of C2 where does not exist in 3CLpro enzyme of corona virus. This literature review is needed to determine the outcome of using lopinavir and ritonavir in order to find a conclusion that can be used as a basis for intervening drug administration in patients of COVID-19. A method of narrative review was used in this study which was carried out by searching on Pubmed and Science direct. After doing abstract screening and title based on the inclusion criteria, 13 articles were left to be analyzed. These articles were analyzed using predetermined clinical outcome parameters, namely duration of hospital stay, composite event, clinical symptom score, time to achieve negative RT-PCR, duration of mechanical ventilation, and all-cause mortality. Based on all reviewed articles, the majority of clinical outcome parameters showed that the outcome was no better than standard care or other drugs. From this review, it can be concluded that lopinavir along with ritonavir provide no better clinical outcomes than standard therapy or other drugs in COVID-19’s patients.

Abstract

Tuberculosis was a cause of global morbidity and mortality. Sumenep Regency has a high number of TBC cases, namely in 2017 were 1,627 people and 1,709 people in 2018. The difficulty in overcoming them is mainly due to the public and drug managers' understanding regarding drug side effects. Therefore, it is necessary to increase their literacy regarding this matter. This research aims to analyze the influence of Focus Group Discussions on farmer group members' understanding of the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis. It also analyzes the understanding of community health center drug managers regarding the side effects of TBC drugs and how to deal with them. A quasi-experimental design, with a pretest – posttest design, was carried out on 49 members of the Bungbungan village farmer group and 39 community health center drug managers in Sumenep. The results showed that the farmer group understanding scores before and after the intervention were as follows: 6.02±1.19 and 6.69±1.46. for drug managers were 14.67±2.41 and 18.36±1.65. Conclusion The Focus Group Discussion had an impact on increasing understanding of the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis for farmer groups, and for community health center drug managers it had an impact on understanding the side effects of TBC drugs and how to deal with them.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the leading causes of death from infectious diseases worldwide. Indonesia ranks as the country with the second-highest number of TB cases after India. TB awareness training and medication adherence support for village health cadres are strategic steps to enhance their capacity in supporting TB treatment. This study aims to analyze the impact of TB awareness training and medication adherence support on improving the knowledge of village health cadres. A pre-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design was conducted involving 50 village health cadres in Bluto Subdistrict, Sumenep Regency. Data were collected using questionnaires administered before and after the training. Analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test. There was a significant increase in the knowledge scores of village health cadres regarding TB (pretest: 3.50 ± 1.65; posttest: 5.64 ± 2.70; p<0.05) and anti-TB drug side effects (pretest: 7.66 ± 4.07; posttest: 15.04 ± 3.11; p<0.05). The training also successfully enhanced the cadres' understanding of TB symptoms, prevention, and treatment, including drug side effects. TB awareness training and medication adherence support significantly improved the knowledge of village health cadres, making them more competent in supporting TB control efforts at the community level.

Abstract

The incidence of cancer continues to increase annually, yet public awareness of early symptoms remains relatively low. A previous study in one of the sub-districts in Kenjeran showed that around 40% of housewives had never performed BSE (Breast Self-Examination) as an early detection effort for breast cancer. This study aimed to determine the effect of pharmacist-led education and demonstration on improving community knowledge and quality of life in cancer prevention and awareness efforts. This study used a pre-post test group design experimental method and was conducted on October 7, 2020, at the Kejawan Lor Futsal Field. The intervention was carried out through education and demonstration methods in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Measurements were taken using questionnaires assessing two variables knowledge and quality of life through pre-tests and post-tests. The results show that knowledge scores increased significantly, from an average of 44% to over 86% after the intervention. Similarly, quality of life scores improved from 33–55% to 83–88% in the post-test. These findings indicate that educational approaches accompanied by demonstrations are effective in raising public knowledge and awareness about cancer prevention. This intervention also has a positive impact on improving the respondents’ quality of life. Therefore, similar programs should be continuously implemented, especially in communities with limited access to health information, such as those in the Kenjeran District.
