Abstract

The total number of broiler chickens in Sukoharjo district was 9,134,244, with the overall provincial production in Central Java reaching 225,048,936. The quality indicators of broiler meat include water content, soluble protein and cooking shrinkage of the meat. The research was conducted in a modern market located in Sukoharjo district from Superindo, Transmat, Lottemart and Hypermart markets. Samples taken were breast part and sampled using the RAL method. The observed variables were drip loss, cooking loss, soluble protein and fat lavels.The data were analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT). The results of the study on broiler meat in different markets were found to be significantly different (P < 0.01) for dripping loss, cooking loss and soluble protein. However, no difference was observed in meat fat content (P > 0.05).The findings of the study indicate that the quality of broiler meat in modern markets in Sukoharjo district has an impact on drip loss, cooking loss and soluble protein, but not to any significant extent on fat lavels.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the administration of turmeric meal in rations on broilers in the starter phase. This research was conducted on a Ngawi Regency, East Java broiler farm. The search time lasted 2 weeks. Penelitian dirancang dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola searah. The study was designed using a RAL unidirectional model. The treatment applied was the administration of turmeric meal in broiler chicken rations with three types of doses, including P0: Without the use of turmeric meal (100% Feed BR-11 / control), P1: Turmeric meal 1% + BR 11 99%, P2: turmeric meal 2% + BR 11 98%. The results of the digestibility study were observed from three variables: ration consumption, daily body weight gain, and ration conversion. The results showed a significant difference in mean (P<0.05) in ration consumption, a significant difference (P<0.05) in body weight gain, and a significant difference (P<0.05) in ration conversion. The study concluded that adding turmeric meal to the broiler feed ration in the start-up phase had a real effect on feed consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa SMK N 2 Sukoharjo dalam budidaya hijauan pakan dan pembuatan agen hayati (Mikoriza dan Trichoderma). Metode yang digunakan meliputi pre-test, penyampaian materi teori, praktik langsung, post-test, dan pendampingan. Sebanyak 50 siswa mengikuti pelatihan ini. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada pemahaman siswa tentang konsep hijauan pakan, jenis tanaman pakan, dan peran agen hayati dalam pertanian. Praktik pembuatan Trichoderma menjadi momen penting yang meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman peserta. Evaluasi post-test menunjukkan bahwa 84% siswa dapat menjelaskan kembali fungsi agen hayati dan 78% merasa percaya diri untuk menerapkan ilmu tersebut secara mandiri. Program ini dinilai sangat bermanfaat oleh mayoritas peserta dan berpotensi direplikasi di sekolah lain.

Abstract

By identifying and resolving these problems, research can make a greater contribution to the use of cassava peel as quality and safe animal feed, and can provide clearer guidance for livestock practitioners. This research aims to determine whether the use of MA-11 can affect the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in cassava skin, so that it can provide additional information regarding the quality of fermented and unfermented cassava skin. This research was designed using a Randomized Random Design (RAL), which consisted of 3 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment given to cassava skin was P0: Cassava skin fermented with MA-11 0 ml, P1: Cassava skin fermented with MA-11 as much as 1 ml, P2: Cassava skin fermented with MA-11 as much as 2 ml. The research results showed that the average KcBK value was P0: 60.57%, P1: 65.08%, P2: 66.98%. The mean KcBO value obtained was P0: 67.20%, P1: 69.47%, P2: 71.22%. The conclusion obtained in this research is that the cassava peel fermentation process using probiotic MA-11 for 14 days with different levels has a very significant effect on the digestibility of dry ingredients and has a significant effect on the digestibility of organic ingredients that have been carried out.

Abstract

The purpose of the Community Service activity is to introduce rabbit meat to the public as well as to provide knowledge and skills about rabbit meat nuggets with a combination of katuk leaves as a form of innovation in processed rabbit meat. The method of carrying out this activity includes counseling and the practice of making rabbit meat nuggets combined with katuk leaf flour as well as packaging training and marketing strategy training. Prior to counseling and practice, participants were first given a pre-test to determine the level of knowledge and understanding of members of the PKK Rt 03 Rw V about rabbit meat and its processed products. After the counseling and practice activities were completed, the participants were given a post test which was intended to determine the increase/absorption of knowledge and skills provided by the service team from Bantara Sukoharjo Univet. The target participants were 20 members of the PKK Rt 03 Rw V group. The results obtained were that the participants were very enthusiastic in participating in the activities both during counseling and during practice and assistance in the production of nuggets. The average pre-test score of the participants was 48 and the average post-test score was 88.5. The conclusion from this community service activity was that there was an increase in skills in the PKK group by 84.38%.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the effect of maggot oil (Hermetia illucens) supplementation in rations on the performance of laying hens, especially on the variables of feed consumption, egg weight, egg production, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). Maggot oil is an alternative fat source that is rich in essential fatty acids and has the potential to improve metabolic performance and chicken productivity. This study used an experimental design with several levels of maggot oil supplementation and one control group without treatment. The results of the analysis showed that maggot oil supplementation did not have a significant effect on egg weight and FCR values, so it did not change the efficiency of feed utilization or the weight of eggs produced. However, maggot oil supplementation had a significant effect on increasing daily feed consumption and egg production. Chickens that received maggot oil showed an increase in appetite, which was likely due to increased feed palatability due to the fat content in maggot oil. This increase in consumption then had an impact on high hen day production (HDP), indicating that maggot oil was able to encourage higher egg production. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that maggot oil has the potential as an alternative feed additive that can improve the performance of laying hens in terms of egg productivity and feed consumption, without reducing the efficiency of feed conversion or the quality of the egg weight produced.

Abstract

Corn tumpi is a byproduct of corn milling and is abundant in Indonesia, accounting for 8–15% of the total weight of ground corn kernels. However, its use as animal feed is hampered by its high crude fiber content, which reduces digestibility. MA-11 and EM4 are types of inoculum containing microorganisms that can produce fiber-degrading enzymes. Therefore, they can be used as inoculum in the fermentation process to overcome this obstacle and hopefully improve nutrient digestibility. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fermentation using MA-11 and EM4 on the digestibility of dry matter and organic matter in corn tumpi. The design used was a one-way RAL with three treatments, each replicated eight times. The treatments were P0: corn tumps plus molasses and urea (control); P1: corn tumpi fermented using MA-11 with the addition of molasses and urea; P2: corn tumpi fermented using EM-4 with the addition of molasses and urea. The observed variables include KcBK and KcBO.The collected data were analyzed using ANOVA; if the ANOVA indicated a significant difference, the DMRT test was carried out. The results indicate that corn tumpi fermentation can increase the average dry matter digestibility (KcBK) and the average organic matter digestibility (KcBO). The average value of KcBK is as follows: P0: 65.97%, P1: 74.03%, and P2: 70.92%. while the average value of KCBO is 61.47%; P1: 70.31% and P2: 65.77%. This study concludes that fermentation using MA-11 or EM4 on corn tumpi can increase the values of KcBK and KcBO, and that the inoculum yielding the highest results in KcBK and KcBO is MA-11.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman larutan daun sirsak (Annona muricata) terhadap penurunan kadar lemak total dan kolesterol pada beef abomasum serta menentukan konsentrasi optimalnya. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, yaitu P0 (kontrol, aquades), P1 (larutan daun sirsak 5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), dan P4 (20%). Setiap perlakuan menggunakan 100 gram beef abomasum yang direndam selama 60 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perendaman dengan larutan daun sirsak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar lemak total dan kolesterol. Nilai rata-rata kadar lemak total tertinggi diperoleh pada kontrol (P0) sebesar 7,44 ± 0,039 dan terendah pada perlakuan P4 sebesar 6,15 ± 0,042. Demikian pula kadar kolesterol tertinggi terdapat pada P0 sebesar 179,40 ± 2,19 dan terendah pada P4 sebesar 122,74 ± 2,69. Konsentrasi 20% (P4) merupakan perlakuan paling efektif dalam menurunkan kadar lemak total dan kolesterol pada beef abomasum.  ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect of soaking beef abomasum in soursop leaf (Annona muricata) solution on the reduction of total fat and cholesterol levels and to determine the optimal concentration. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replicates, namely P0 (control, distilled water), P1 (5% soursop leaf solution), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), and P4 (20%). Each treatment used 100 grams of beef abomasum soaked for 60 minutes. The results showed that soaking in soursop leaf solution had a significant effect on total fat and cholesterol levels. The highest average total fat level was obtained in the control (P0) at 7.44 ± 0.039 and the lowest in treatment P4 at 6.15 ±0.042. Similarly, the highest cholesterol level was found in P0 at 179.40 ± 2.19 and the lowest in P4 at 122.74 ± 2.69. A concentration of 20% (P4) was the most effective treatment in reducing total fat and cholesterol levels in beef abomasum.

Abstract

Rice straw is one alternative feed resource that has potential for use as livestock feed under certain conditions. This potential is indicated by its abundant availability, while a large proportion remains underutilized. Unfortunately, disposal is often carried out by burning in agricultural fields, which leads to air pollution. This study was conducted to evaluate the fermentation of rice straw using different fermentors, namely MA-11 mixed with molasses and Starbio, and their effects on the physical and chemical properties of rice straw. The experiment employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and four replications: P0 (fermentation without probiotics), P1 (fermentation with 3% MA-11 mixed with molasses), and P2 (fermentation with 3% Starbio). The observed variables included physical characteristics (color, aroma, and texture) and chemical composition (dry matter and pH). The findings indicated that fermenting with MA-11 combined with molasses and Starbio enhanced both the physical and chemical attributes of rice straw silage. In terms of physical characteristics, the fermented samples displayed a yellowish-brown hue, a mildly acidic scent, and a somewhat rough texture. From a chemical perspective, the dry matter percentage rose from 91.97% (P0) to 92.37% (P1) and 92.37% (P2), although this change was not statistically significant (P>0.05). At the same time, pH levels showed a notable decrease from 6.25 (P0) to 5.50 (P1) and 5.75 (P2). Thus, it can be concluded that the fermentation of rice straw utilizing MA-11 along with molasses and Starbio significantly influenced the quality of rice straw following the fermentation. This suggests that the fermentation method can enhance the physical and chemical qualities of rice straw, thereby boosting its potential value as an animal feed component.

Abstract

Organic fertilizer is the result of microbiological activity in decomposing organic matter, and has slow release properties (slowly available) but can be available longer in the soil than inorganic fertilizers. The application of organic fertilizer also plays a role in increasing soil microbial activity, suppressing plant diseases, and increasing nutrient absorption efficiency, thereby maintaining or increasing soil and plant productivity. Organic fertilizer can be produced from agricultural and livestock waste through fermentation or composting, resulting in liquid or solid organic fertilizer. This type of research is a field experiment aimed at determining the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on the growth of Indigofera zollingeriana plants. The variables observed were branch growth, number of new shoots, leaves, and plant height. Based on the results of research on the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on the growth of Indigofera zollingeriana at various treatment doses (10 ml, 20 ml, 30 ml, and 40 ml), it can be concluded that the application of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of Indigofera zollingeriana affects the growth of the number of leaves but does not affect the growth of the number of shoots, branches, and plant height.
