Abstract

This study examines the social capital of impoverished students who possess limited economic resources. To thrive in school, these students heavily rely on strong social capital. Social capital is crucial for impoverished students as it enables them to interact effectively with teachers and peers. The study was conducted in four high schools located in Temanggung, Cilacap, Purbalingga, and Kebumen Regencies, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The study respondents were students from impoverished families, selected through a simple random sampling method, comprising 30% of the impoverished students in those schools. The findings revealed that a significant majority of the respondents exhibited high social capital. This was evidenced by the extent of their social networks, which encompassed close relationships with peers from both their own and other schools. Consequently, they felt accepted and integrated within their social groups. Furthermore, these students adhered to prevailing social norms within their school and peer circles, further facilitating their acceptance. Impoverished students also managed to gain the trust of both their friends and teachers. This was exemplified by their frequent involvement in assisting classmates with school assignments. However, despite possessing these positive social attributes, they were rarely allowed to hold specific positions within the class or organizational structures. Additionally, they were seldom selected to represent the school in various competitions.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the form and function of earth almsgiving in Pekuncen Village, Jatilawang District, Banyumas Regency. This research includes qualitative research using a phenomenological model approach to find answers to a phenomenon. The findings show that it is not known when the earth almsgiving tradition was carried out in Pekuncen Village, because they carry it out based on instructions handed down by their ancestors. In its implementation, Pekuncen Village's earth almsgiving consists of several rituals which function as the most dominant symbols to show affection and gratitude to Allah SWT for the earth which has given life to the community. The ritual of giving alms to the earth is applied in several forms, namely pilgrimages, traditional ceremonies, offering rituals, and shadow puppet show entertainment. Earth alms has several functions, namely a religious function, an educational function, a togetherness function, a cultural preservation function, and an entertainment function Abstract Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk dan fungsi sedekah bumi di Desa Pekuncen, Kecamatan Jatilawang, Kabupaten Banyumas. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan model fenomenologi untuk mencari jawaban dari suatu fenomena. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa tradisi sedekah bumi yang dilaksanakan di Desa Pekuncen tidak diketahui kapan awal mulanya, karena mereka melaksanakannya berdasarkan petunjuk yang diwariskan oleh nenek moyang. Dalam pelaksanaannya, sedekah bumi Desa Pekuncen terdiri dari beberapa ritual yang berfungsi sebagai simbol yang paling dominan untuk menunjukkan rasa kasih sayang dan rasa syukur kepada Allah SWT atas bumi yang telah memberikan kehidupan bagi masyarakat. Ritual sedekah bumi tersebut diaplikasikan melalui beberapa bentuk yaitu ziarah, acara slametan, ritual sesajen, dan hiburan pertunjukan wayang kulit. Sedekah bumi memiliki beberapa fungsi yaitu sebagai fungsi religi, fungsi edukasi, fungsi kebersamaan, fungsi pelestarian budaya, dan fungsi hiburan.

Abstract

This study explains the relationship between peer interaction and religiosity level with student achievement motivation. This research was conducted using the survey method at SMA Negeri 1 Wangon. The population of this study were X and XI grade students totalling 715 students. Sampling using simple random sampling technique. The number of samples in this study were 392 students (52% of the total population). The results showed that the correlation value of Kendall's tau on the peer interaction variable was 0.270 with a significance value of 0.05. While the level of religiosity variable shows the correlation value of Kendall's tau of 0.315 with a significance value of 0.05. Based on the results of the study, there is a positive relationship between peer interaction and achievement motivation and a positive relationship between religiosity level and achievement motivation. Students‘ social interactions with peers can increase students achievement motivation. Peers provide social support to students to achieve, thus encouraging students to increase their achievement motivation. Meanwhile, the level of religiosity can also increase students' achievement motivation. Religiosity that provides positive values for students can increase student achievement motivation.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menjelaskan hubungan persepsi peran gender dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif berupa survei di salah satu SMA di Banyumas, Jawa Tengah. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 715 siswa. Teknik sampel yang digunakan yaitu teknik simple random sampling dengan jumlah sampel yaitu 392 siswa. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan kolerasi tau kendall b. Hasil penelitian tidak terdapat hubungan yang positif antara persepsi peran gender dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa. Nilai p value atau signifikasi sebesar 0,162 menunjukkan bahwa hubungan kedua variabel tersebut tidak signifikan, karena p value 0,162 > α -0,071 pada taraf signifikasi 99% (0,01). Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena peran sosialisasi di sekolah memperlakukan semua siswa sama tanpa memandang persepsi peran gender, sehingga siswa tertanam kesetaraan gender bahwa setiap siswa memiliki kesempatan yang sama untuk berprestasi.

Abstract

This study explains the differences in student perceptions of female smokers. The students who were respondents in this study were 2018 students at the University of Palangkaraya and IAIN Palangkaraya. This research was conducted using a survey method with a simple random sampling technique. The number of samples taken was as many as 192. Methods of data analysis using a cross table and Chi Square. There are two research results obtained first, there is no difference in perceptions of female smokers between Palangkaraya University students and IAIN Palangkaraya students. The chi square value is 1.34 and the significance value is 0.24, indicating the relationship between the variables is not significant. Second, there is no difference in perceptions of female smokers between male and female students. The chi squared value of 0.44 and a significance value of 0.50 indicate that the relationship between variables is not significant. Based on the place of study and gender, there is basically no difference in perception. Women who smoke have a negative perspective compared to men who smoke. This is because there is a culture that has been attached to the idea that smoking for women is a very despicable and inappropriate thing.

Abstract

The development of the globalization era has caused many changes, one of which is the increasingly sophisticated technology. Social media is a phenomenon as a result of technological advancement. It can be accessed by all groups, including teenagers. The growing level of social media use among teenagers can affect various aspects of their lives, including academic and non-academic achievement motivation. This study aims to find out the relationship between social media access and student achievement motivation. This study uses a quantitative method in the form of a survey. Data was obtained through questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique uses Kendall’s correlation. The results of the study show a positive relationship between social media access and student achievement motivation. The p value or significance of 0.002 indicates that there is a substance relationship between the two variables because the p-value is 0.002 <α 0.05 at a significance level of 99% (0.01). Social media is a factor that influences motivation for student achievement. This can happen because of imitation behavior towards positive content on the accounts they follow regarding achievements. Social media helps students to get learning materials and makes it easier to get information about competitions.

Abstract

This study explains the relationship between family support and perceived success with high school students' achievement motivation. The method used was a survey in one of the high schools in Banyumas. The population was 715 students from tenth and eleventh grade. In this study, the sample amounted to 392 students who were determined using simple random sampling technique. The results revealed that the Kendall's tau correlation value on the family support variable was 0.13 with a significance value of 0.05. Meanwhile, the perceived success variable showed a Kendall's tau correlation value of 0.28 with a significance value of 0.01. These results indicate a positive relationship between family support and achievement motivation and a positive relationship between perceived success and achievement motivation. The ability of families to provide support can increase children's potential to achieve and achieve success. When parents provide optimal support, it can increase children's achievement motivation because children feel fully supported and valued. On the other hand, perceptions of success also contribute to increasing students' achievement motivation. The perception of success that students believe can provide encouragement to develop their potential so that it has implications for increasing student achievement motivation.

Abstract

Poor students are often considered students with difficulty achieving in school due to limited resources. Some try to study in their favorite schools, dominated by upper-class students. This study aims to describe the efforts made by poor students to achieve in their favorite schools. The qualitative research method involves interviewing poor students who excel with teachers at their favorite schools. The study results show that they are motivated to achieve and utilize the available learning facilities. They borrow books from the library and download books from the internet to learn. They also utilize free tutoring facilities that can be accessed online. Saving is their way of fulfilling learning facilities. They have a habit of practicing learning discipline at home by utilizing their free time as much as possible. The results of this study can change the negative stigma regarding poor students who are identified with laziness, helplessness, indiscipline, and failure. This study can provide insight into the efforts of poor students to develop resilience and achieve high academic achievement despite facing economic challenges.

Abstract

This article examines the reproduction of cultural authority within the Sambas Malay culture, emphasizing the distinctions in the utilization of songs for performing dhikr or barzanji in broader terms. This issue is approached through a multidisciplinary lens that integrates aspects of cultural studies, ethnomusicology, and symbolic capital. This research is qualitative because it explores the complex relationship between the dhikr practices of the community, resulting in narrative data. The data was collected through interviews and participant observation, which included engaging with the dhikr participants during their rituals and practices. The process of data analysis occurs in three distinct stages. Initially, data reduction is conducted to arrange the data in a more structured manner. The second point presents the reduced data thematically in a table that includes images, text quotes, and snippets of dialogue. Data verification was conducted to reach conclusions. The process of interpretation involved restating and reflecting on the data in light of the prevailing socio-cultural context. The findings suggest that the dichotomy acts as a means for dhikr practitioners to recreate cultural authority, aiming to reshape the Sambas Palace's influence over those who engage with traditional songs. This reproductive process occurs through inversion and reinforcement.

Abstract

Sektor pertanian memegang peranan penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat, terutama di negara agraris seperti Indonesia. Kabupaten Majalengka pada tahun 2018 memiliki luas lahan pertanian sebesar 50.408 hektar (Badan Pusat Statistik, 2022). Seiring dengan pembangunan, pada tahun 2020 lahan pertanian di kabupaten ini banyak yang beralih fungsi menjadi kawasan industri. Total luas areal produksi pertanian pada tahun 2021 adalah 50.323 hektar lahan pertanian (Badan Pusat Statistik, 2022). Kegiatan alih fungsi lahan yang terjadi di pedesaan merupakan hal yang umum terjadi. Alih fungsi lahan di pedesaan biasanya melibatkan tokoh masyarakat. Tokoh masyarakat juga turut berperan dalam pelepasan lahan pertanian. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini meliputi: 1) Strategi apa saja yang digunakan tokoh masyarakat dalam melepaskan lahan pertanian yang dialihfungsikan menjadi kawasan industri di Kecamatan Sumber Jaya, Kabupaten Majalengka? 2) Bagaimana implikasi dari strategi tokoh masyarakat dalam melepaskan lahan pertanian yang dialihfungsikan menjadi kawasan industri di Kecamatan Sumber Jaya, Kabupaten Majalengka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif, sumber datanya adalah tokoh masyarakat di Kecamatan Sumber Jaya dan masyarakat terdampak alih fungsi lahan. Strategi yang dilakukan masyarakat meliputi strategi komunikasi personal dan struktural; strategi kultural dan keagamaan; strategi persuasif berbasis relasi sosial; dan strategi tokoh masyarakat sebagai mediator. Kemudian, implikasi dari strategi tokoh masyarakat dalam alih fungsi lahan adalah, tokoh masyarakat terkesan membiarkan, sehingga menimbulkan ketegangan setelah lahan dilepas; masyarakat kehilangan mata pencaharian sebagai petani karena lahannya telah dijual; terjadi degradasi ekologi dan ketidakseimbangan fungsi spasial yang berdampak.
